    Good for 2 years, than randomly dies

    Had this soundbar system for 2 years now and tonight when I went to watch a movie it simply will not power on. Tried every solution provided by support and it seems like the unit simply failed. Now I'm left with a dead eyesore in front of my TV and looking into a more reliable company and product to produce my sound

    It's ok just not what I was looking for. At its highest sound it's ok and that's what I was looking for around mid range of volume not at the max...(room size 14X14). keeping it for a few days since movie night is near and see what the other family members weigh in and have to say... maybe back to the store for this one.

    The system looks nice and it's easy to install. However, the sound quality is really bad, I decided to return it because of that. Doesn't make sense to have a 5.1 this bad. Rather have a stereo system with better quality for the same money.

    First sound bar I have purchased and wasn't sure what to expect. Sounds ok, but is very frustrating when it doesn't turn on automatically with DIRECTV remote when I turn on TV.

      Thanks for taking the time to post a review. There's a few things that might be able to help fix your issue. Some remotes are universal and you may be able to program the remote you're using to operate the soundbar. You could also connect this Sound Bar to your TV using HDMI ARC. ARC uses a technology called CEC, and when your TV powers on ARC will use CEC to power on the Sound Bar on automatically. VIZIO

    To say I'm happy with my purchase is an understatement. My current surround system is a Bose Lifestyle 28 Series II so my expectations were that I wanted something that sounded just as good. My Bose system sounded fantastic but being 12 years old and no HDMI connections it is time to retire it. The bezels on TV's now are so small that the internal speakers face the rear of the TV and project the sound out of the back which makes it very hard for me to hear in a large room. That issue has been solved with the sound bar. I can hear better at a lower volume now. The Vizio 38" SmartCast 5.1 channel Sound Bar sounds (to me) just as clean, crisp, full, and solid sounding as my Bose system. I was pleasantly surprised that such a compact system filled my 20' X 30' hardwood floor, vaulted ceiling living room with sound. I haven't tried to blast it to see if the system and especially the sub woofer bog down or not but I don't really feel the need to. It just sounds good! Setting the system up literally took 20 minutes from opening the boxes to filling the room with clean, crisp sound. The versatility of the settings on the sound bar is nice too. I was easily able to dial in the sound to my liking. Other reviews are correct in stating the display on the remote needs back lighting but that was not a deal breaker for me. I caught this on sale on BestBuy.com for $229. As I write this review it s $249 and worth every penny if you ask me. I was however unable to connect my sound bar via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to my phone or router with the SmartCast app after a few attempts. But honestly, I didn't spend more than 10 minutes trying. That's something I'll mess with later. I would expect systems of this sound quality to be twice the price of this system. I was impressed!
