    Football... is... amazing!

Spent $399 on the Sony ht-ct790 and was extremely disappointed. I bought the soundbar for one reason and one reason only... football. I don't have an optical connection on my TV, but I do have coax digital. I hooked this bad boy up to it and wow... just wow. The back speakers are the winner. If you're looking for a soundbar just for football... can't beat this. $100 cheaper than the Sony and blows it out of the water. I don't write reviews often, but when I do, trust them. 5.1 value at a 3.1 price

I shopped extensively for a sound solution and this has proven to be an excellent choice. If you watch any form of films on your tv, actual 5.1 sound is a big jump from more standard 3.1 type of sound you normally get from midrange sound bars. I use the ARC connection on my TV and this sound bar to pass through 5.1 sound from all the TVs apps, as well as from a Blu-ray player inputting to the sound bar then to the TV from the other direction. The ARC ports are designed for this, and it works well. The TV and disc player are both smart Samsung units, but there's no issues running audio through the Vizio bar. Value: This unit gives you good sound that will fill even a large living room, with actual real rear channel sound, a solid amount of settings/customization options, a full slate of cables, a remote, a wireless woofer, and includes nice connectivity as well as a pleasing design that will fit most living rooms. I think for the price, beating this combination of features will not be an easy task for other products in this range. As such if you like getting your money's worth you will probably be pleased buying this in my opinion. Make sure you get this D0 model, not the older one (C0). Criticism: Nothing is perfect, my constructive criticism after a month of use are things others have mentioned that would improve this otherwise great sound bar. The remote needs lights on or you cannot see the display, so you can't adjusting settings in the dark with the TV as illumination. The unit communicates using a row of vertical LED lights along the left edge of the main speaker. It gets the job done but a real display would be a big improvement. Connecting with the VIZIO phone app/remote proved difficult, didn't work in Bluetooth w/ IPhone 6 at all. The connectivity backup for this is WIFI, my sound bar did not put out the necessary WIFI signal until I manually upgraded its firmware at the Vizio website using a USB flash drive. Others have experienced this, I hope that helps someone. The rear speaker wires are very long, which is great. They are however not the thinnest and black. They run from the subwoofer which communicates to the main speaker wirelessly, keep those black wires in mind for designing your placement. There are nice input/output options, but another HDMI input to allow the sound bar to function as a full modern audio hub would be a great addition. Overall: I'm very pleased with the sound from this Vizio bar, at this price range this is by far in my opinion the clear value winner, giving you 5.1 audio, features, and solid audio that is normally reserved for products costing quite a bit more.

    Excellent Quality, Easy Set-Up

I purchased a 55" Samsung 4K and, because I wanted them to match, purchased a Samsung soundbar with it. The TV is fine, but the Samsung sound bar was awful. My wife and I took turns getting down on the ground with our ear to the subwoofer asking each other "Is this thing on?" So we returned it and decided to TRY this Vizio soundbar, mostly for comparison. The subwoofer shakes our apartment. Exactly what I was looking for. I'd like to point out that this Vizio device generously includes all the wires you need (and spare ones that you probably won't) and is extremely conveniently and thoughtfully laid out. It took some time getting it installed on the wall, but after that, dialing it in was a breeze. I'm a big fan of the remote itself which has a nice little screen on it, leaving the soundbar very simplistic and modern. Well worth the money, and well worth the very positive reviews it has received. It's hard for me to imagine that spending twice this much would result in perceptibly better home theater audio. Definitely worth it.

When I upgraded my main TV to 4K, I moved my old TV up to the bedroom. It's definitely an above average bedroom TV, but as with all TVs, the factory speakers just don't sound very good. This 5.1 surround sound bar is a huge improvement. Good price too. Highly recommended.

    Great system

Bought this speaker system a few days ago. Setup was good. Speakers are mounted. It took a few tries to get the app to sync up with the soundbar. Once It synced up it was good. I programmed the system with my logitech harmony home hub and added it to my google cast wireless home grouping. Turned off the Tru volume feature that acts as a sound limiter or balancer. Once the tru volume feature is turned off the system comes alive. It is loud and clear. I set the individual volumes, treble, bass and balances for my living room and man does it sound good...

Am hard of hearing and even with my hearing aids in tv sound was muffled and music from my mp3 was a little flat. Hooked up system to tv first and could understand it perfectly, even without hearing aids. Music is great also hearing sounds that have been missing for years wish had purchased this when it first came out set up was a breeze took all of 20 minutes from opening box to it running.

Simple and Inexpensive Way Into Real 5.1 Sound

I looked for a long time before going with this system. I own one of Vizio's new P-series TVs, so the new SmartCast series of soundbars seemed like the perfect compliment to my TV. The rear satellite speakers are wired and connect to the wireless subwoofer. I have the subwoofer placed in the back of the room and the cables that are provided for the speakers give you plenty of length to route them as needed. The sound is great and I don't think you can do any better for this price. I was looking at home theater in a box systems, but I did not want to mess with all of those wires and a Blu Ray player that wasn't 4K. With this soundbar connected to my TVs HDMI-ARC port I can get 5.1 sound from everything connected to my TV. The soundbar has Google Cast built into as well and you can download the Vizio SmartCast app to your phone or tablet to adjust the settings or power it on (an actual remote is included as well). For me, simplicity won out in the end. I knew I could have gone for an AV receiver and speakers for $100-$200 more and I would likely have had better sound and support for more audio formats, but I just did not have the room for all of that stuff. I'm very happy with what I get from this and it just acts like a part of my TV.

    Great sound, great buy!

I researched many makes, models and brands before purchasing this. I already own the Vizio M50-C1 4K TV so the matching brand was an extra bonus when setting it up. Every cable under the sun was supplied with the system but a single HDMI cable and running to the ARC/HDMI port on the TV was all it needed. It mutes the TV speakers when the system is on and turns them back on when the system is off. But the sound is what really impresses me! This system replaced a Bose 3-2-1 GS that at the time I paid $1,000 for and really, there is no comparison. This system rocks!! I was first amazed when I ran the "speaker test" from the remote. It literally filled the room. Then listening to any channel I had on or movie that I played was just far superior to the old Bose system. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! My only gripe (and it's not with the system itself) is with the SmartCast app. It is a great idea, if it worked. Have tried for two weeks but can't get the app to recognize and connect to the sound bar. Oh well, I have a great 4K picture and 5.1 sound so maybe I'll try again, when an updated version of the software comes out.
