It is really great that it can lie horizontally, which is why I bought it and how I use it, but at its core that's the only thing this fan has going for it. It only has 3 fan speeds, doesn't do anything remotely fancy like other fans in its price range, and in my opinion is quite loud in contrast to what others have said. So I guess you're paying for the option to go horizontal, and I guess that gives you a basic fan for $100. If you're specifically looking for a fan to lie horizontally, this is the fan for you. But if you intend to just use it like a tower fan, you can definitely get more for your money elsewhere.
