Not what I would consider a security camera

From the initial opening of the box I have been disappointed. The packaging makes no sense. I cut the tape on the bottom to slide the cover off the box and it would not come off. So I opened the top of the cover to push the box out. It was stuck for some reason. After giving a little force the inner box opens at a angle that caused it to get stuck in the outer sleeve. As soon as you free it up, everything in the box comes falling out as the tp angled portion will open at the hinge when you finally get it far enough slid through the sleeve. The packaging is poorly designed. I try and open boxes in a way that IF I need to return, the box is still usable.
Sadly, this may be the highlight of my experience with this "security" camera.
I have had this set up in my drive way to test and configure for the last 4 days. So far it has taken 38 pictures. Not one of them have me getting in nor out of the car. None show the car pulling out nor in. There are 38 random shots with no "movement" that would have caused the picture to be taken.
As a test I set this up by the pool, this would/should catch the dogs running in the yard, the mower running, people in the house coming out to the pool. I set it on the table with the best view of everything in the back yard with sensitivity high. It took one picture of nothing. No dogs, no people, no mower. Just a empty back yard.
I have played with the sensitivity levels. No change.
The app really has very little to adjust. Quite honestly the app needs a lot of work to make it user friendly.
One of the reasons I set it up in the driveway was to see how often and how many pics would be taken to better identify which plan I would want to sign up for. The driveway is a great location because there is some movement within 100 feet that would be a great test of the camera. With the number of shots taken, I would need to go with the elite tier. But I can not justify it since the camera is not catching any movement.
To give an idea of the lacking of motion detection, a service man showed up yesterday and walked right past the camera with no detection whatsoever. I picked him up coming through the gate on one of my wired cams.
If you are looking for a trail cam, this would probably work quite well. But using it to "capture" an intruder just isn't going to happen.
Some other notes:
- I charged the battery to 100% before setting the cam up. It has reported at 29% charged while being in direct sunlight daily since day 2.
- The camera on day one showed zero LTE signal until I power cycled 2 times.
- The app would not pick up the cameras setting until day 3 update
- The pricing plans are not very affordable
- I have yet to get an alert for motion, just alerts for random pictures.
- I got a few black and white night vision shots during the day
As for the pictures, they are pretty clear, a little on the dark side. So the camera does a very good job with photos.
Solar charging seems to be lacking for some reason. I have stabilized around 29% battery.
Motion detection has been very poor.

Did you try to download the 10-second video the camera recorded for each detection? Simply touch the photo of your choice and pick the “Full HD” option in the top right corner. Let the camera transfer the video, and you will soon be able to see the action. As for the battery, we will soon release an energy-efficient mode. Good camera for off grid but lacks flexibility

This is a good camera for those places where you don't have WiFi and want to have a security camera to monitor a very specific piece of equipment in a not too busy place. I'll break this review in to two parts the first being the hardware and the next being the app and subscription/service.
Hardware
It's built high-quality and seems durable. It does work well standalone as an off grid solution to take snapshot photos when it detects movement but I found mixed results with the movement/AI like you get with other camera systems where there are things detected that I don't need ok want to see which is a BIG DEAL when your data plan is limited by how many photos you get each month. It's easy to use, you literally don't need to do anything other than turn it on, make sure it's updated/has good LTE signal with the indicator lights near the battery under the lid that seals it up from water and the elements. In terms of design, I would say it's good but you'll want to make sure it has a clear view of the sky for most of the day otherwise I could see there being issues with it being able to charge fully/consistently. For me, it worked great on an open/exposed wall watching some equipment and seems to stay charged. I didn't particularly care for the mount at all, in fact it was very difficult to mount/drill in to the wall and because of the design and you really have few adjustment options so you have to make sure you plan the view/mount ahead of putting a hole in the wall. For the mount I'd rate it zero stars mostly because the bolt is part of the mount making it super difficult to do high up on a ladder and frankly dangerous. The solar panel is not adjustable so again another item I didn't care for at all because it really limits where/how you mount it. Outside of that the camera's photos work well but I had trouble getting the live video going consistently in fact so inconsistent I'm not sure I'd pay for that option. Image quality was good but no where near as good as my Lorex system at home but it does have AI/notifications for alerts for specific events. Not sure what good the SD card is because you have no control over how it uses it and what it stores on the card or has stored on the card. You can view images it's captured on it later though.
The App/Software
The app is easy to use and navigate. Notifications work well when events are detected and you can control how notifications are displayed based on events. Live view was spotty and didn't work half the time for me. You can download photos but I didn't see options to download video segments so in that regard it does NOT work like a conventional security camera where it records constantly. There's also a delay between the event and you receiving notifications. Obviously there are many things that impact how much delay there is but if monitoring real time is critical then this might not be for you.
Subscription
The pros are there's a free option you can fall back to but it's very limited and you can just pull stuff off the SD card but then that makes this camera really no different than a trail camera. Cons are you cannot add your own sim card and you cannot connect it to Wifi (obviously it wasn't designed with that in mind as it's an off grid solution). Plans are very limited in terms of what you get considering an unlimited data sim card from a carrier really would cost no differently than the top tier plan so the subscriptions make zero sense to me. For me, it's not the cost but what you get out of the service just is very limited where there's a set number of photos and a limited amount of video viewing time. For monitoring parked equipment this would probably work great but if you're using these to actually monitor property in a remote but busy area this would definitely not work. I actually wanted to use this on the farm to watch livestock and alert for vehicles that approach but this system turns out would absolutely not work for that use case which is extremely disappointing. For specific use cases, this system is great but outside of that you may not get what you're expecting.
Overall, it's a good camera and does work off grid, which is awesome and can be a great solution for monitoring in remote places where there's no wifi or power. It falls short for me in too many areas because there's little flexibility in terms of data plans and zero ability to use it as a real video security system. In some ways a trail camera would work about the same except some of those have better quality stills at night than this system did. There's no spotlight which I think would have been a welcomed feature if it could be configured to be set off based on specific events. So it's a mixed bag for me and definitely seems promising and like something that could evolve over time to be improved through software updates and maybe different plans down the road.

I returned it. I couldn't even test it too much. In order to livestream you must purchase the minutes...40minutes for $20....not worth it. I called them to make sure i was understanding correctly and there's no other way to access the camera live, so i returned it.

Hello Vsdct, to be able to use the live streaming of the V300, you need to purchase the $20 plan that gives 40 minutes of full HD live video. Two minutes of live streaming are included during the 7-day free trial period. The details of the plans can be found via our website: https://www.vosker.com/vosker-security-plans-offered/. -KM

The Vosker - V300 Outdoor Wire Free 1080p Full HD Video Security camera offers all the features you would expect from wired security cameras, but without the cord! Offering Solar power recharging, LTE/Cellular connectivity, HD day or night, recording via SD card and cloud, the Vosker - V300 doesn't miss a beat.
I found the setup and use very easy and have been very pleased with the alerts and video/picture quality. Audio is great even in the windy area I am. I am using this unit to cover a blind spot on my property where my other cameras cannot cover due to wires and power needs. The connectivity with LTE/Cellular is helpful, but I was disappointed that it does NOT have Wi-Fi connectivity which seems a basic requirement for any connected device now days. The Vosker app is easy to use but has good options to establish the right alerts for your needs. Water resistant, but not waterproof.
PROS
- Vosker innovation, design, and brand
- Easy to set up
- Perfect of places you cannot connect to power or Wi-Fi
- App for iOS and Android is easy to use and can customize
- Picture and Audio quality is excellent
- Comes with everything it needs in the box
CONS
- Missing Wi-Fi connectivity (since I have this at my house, it seems pointless for me to have to pay for cellular plans)
- Cellular plans are required after the 7-day free trial
- Cellular plans are a bit spendy for what you get!

Frustrating design

I really wanted to like this camera and was excited about replacing another camera that I have on my garage. That camera relied on Wi-Fi and would frequently go down, especially in bad weather. Given how sturdy the V300 was supposed to be, I thought this would be a good option. However, I was disappointed.
First, as other reviewers mentioned, you can only install the camera into wood. This was not a big issue for me, but my problem was the lack of maneuverability or ability to adjust certain components like the solar panel. I think it would be great if there was some way to detach the panel so that it doesn’t have to be with the camera to charge the battery. In other words I’d like to be able to mount two components in different places because I have the camera under the roof line of my garage. That means it doesn’t get any sun and the solar panel is useless. Yes, I get it, I could mount it in a different location, but where I live that would require an architectural review and approval to mount to the side of my garage, which is something I wanted to avoid.
Second, I really can’t stand the app or the lack of options when it comes to viewing and storing what the camera captures. The app is difficult to navigate and often doesn’t work the way I expect it to. In fact, it even froze on me a couple times requiring me to force close it and start over.
The long and short of it is, multiple aspects of this camera and the components you need to use it don’t work well. There are better options out there, so I’d say save yourself the frustration.

I have a property that is fairly large and the far end doesn’t have any power or internet. I thought this would be a great way to keep tabs on the far end as well as see what kind of animals might come wandering in.
For me this just didn’t work out. First of all, the mounting for this camera is pretty limited. Because I wanted to put it higher up to get a good view of everything without obstruction, I had to put it in a tree. The wood screw didn’t really work out well with the irregular and rounded shape of a tree trunk. I ended up making my own mounting system from some tie down straps and scrap wood I had laying around.
Second, I really liked the idea of solar power so that I could get it to run a long time (hopefully indefinably) without having to charge it. For me it just didn’t work well. The lack of adjustability and the fact that I wanted to use it in an area with trees, meant that it might as well not have had any solar panel at all. I had problems keeping it charged and streaming for any amount of time.
Usability was only OK. You have to use the app and it’s a bit cumbersome, but I’ve also used a lot of other devices that were worse. The camera worked fine to actively monitor what was happening when I wanted to manually check things or if I got an alert and wanted to see what was going on right then. However, the motion didn’t really pick up much. I had a trail cam there and put it up for comparison and the trail cam caught detected a lot more than this did. I haven’t tested what the difference is and if I can evade the camera if I move super slow, or run super fast; but it missed a lot.
Maybe the fact that the area had a lot of trees and potential movement it threw it off, I’m not sure.
Put those together and the cost just makes this a bit unreasonable. Especially since you would have to use the live stream so much to actually see what is going on and can’t rely too much on it doing things on its own.
If the stars all aligned for you so that you could keep it powered and you need the LTE, then this may work for you, but it is more of a specific use solution rather than a universal solution that the LTE and solar panel would lead you to believe.

I was very excited to try this camera out. Living where I do I actually have a need for it as I have a lot of property, out buildings, and woods. I decided I would try it in two places to see how it would work before I wrote my review. The first place was where my property meets the neighboring farmers. I knew Id get some traffic from tractors, and animals, and this location offered good sunlight. I charged the battery overnight, set it up and...nothing.... I had full cell reception, but the camera wasn't connecting. Called customer service, and then it started to work ok. Not bad, glad it was up and running. I tried it here for about a week and had good results, pictures were ok, definitely good enough to see what was passing through. But not so clear that I could read a license plat off a car if I wanted to. I decided to move this camera into my woods at a creek crossing when I always see animals prints in the dirt and mud. I made sure I chose a spot that got ample sun during the day, but apparently not enough... it lasted about 5 days on the battery. But each day the battery would recharge up to around 40% or so, up until the last day, The it just went down no matter how sunny it was. Now its at 0. I will take the battery back inside today and fully charge it to see how it goes.
The downloading of HD videos is nice. This is a great feature, and the videos were very clear... But without a subscription (which I really don't want to pay). I'm not sure how useful this camera is. I would rather pay more up front and have no subscription then have to pay $10 or even $20 a month!!! I know this is the standard for cellular game cameras, but its frustrating to the regular customer.

The V300 is a rugged outdoor security camera that operates over LTE only. It has a built-in solar panel which charges a massive 14Ah battery pack. The ruggedness is obvious pulling this out of the box though the next thing you'd notice is the front seems to not use much space for the camera. Well, the camera lens doesn't really need that much space and what you have taking up front real estate is the motion detection module which claims a whopping 100ft of coverage. The camera will record video and audio and comes with a 16GB microSD card to store local recordings.
Out of the box is the camera, microSD, USB charging cable, battery, SIM card, and mounting arm. Setup is to first charge the battery (for about a day), the install the battery, SIM, and microSD cards. After installing the app, you'd activate the camera using the QR code. You can then configure/setup the monitoring that the camera will do. With the camera on, you get some status LEDs that give you coverage indication. You can also monitor this in the status in the app. Note, there is some delay between transferring updates (and it turns out, this includes photos and video) between the camera and the app. That said, it does have a livestream mode which gives you a bit more real-time view, though that will consume more power. The camera is surprisingly small, so despite the bulkiness that comes from being rugged and having a solar panel onboard, once placed high up, it's relatively unobtrusive.
There's a surprising amount of things you can configure in the app and you can even schedule monitoring. This is great as if you're using this for a jobsite, it's nice to pretty much have the camera be "off" during the workday. For one, that cuts down on the numerous inevitable false positive motion detection (you're working after all), alerts to your phone, and data plan usage that you'd be paying for once the 7 day intro period is over. Right now, scheduling isn't that great. Essentially, you can only set up one daily period. Picture quality is is mixed. At first, I thought it wasn't that great - and with the app, which is likely the primary way most people will view video and photos from this camera, it isn't. Maybe 720p, if that quality - just ends up looking a bit grainy. Turns out, this is an artefact of compression to go over the cell network. If you take a look at the video stored on the SD card, it's full HD! So, if there's something suspicious that you caught via the app, make sure to make a copy of the video from the SD card. It has night vision - just the normal IR based one, not that great, but enough that you can make out what's going on. . .at least within 10-30 feet of the camera. Further away, the camera can pick up motion and activate, but it's not that great unless whatever caused the trigger gets closer.
For what the camera is meant to be - outdoor security camera used where you won't have wifi and can't really run wires, this does a great job. A lot of the tradeoffs come from needing to optimize for battery power (if the battery gets too low, you'd need to either manually charge it or wait for it to recharge over solar) and optimize for LTE data plans. You do get some control over how much the camera will stream, but even in performance, it doesn't seem like you get full HD over the cell network. I think having color night vision, perhaps a lower motion detection range to help balance FOV and false positives, and more schedule configuration are improvements that would slot this as as solid five star device.

The Vosker V300 is an innovative, security camera well suited to off the grid use.
Included in the box is the camera itself, a mounting bracket, USB-C to USB-A charging cable, and a 16 GB microSD card. Before use it is recommended that the battery is fully charged. The lithium-ion battery can only be charged separate from the camera.
Unit has a rugged design with a considerable weight. Most of the weight is due to the 51.8 watt hour (14,000 mAh) lithium battery. Built in solar panel allows for long term outdoor surveillance. Camera boasts a 100ft motion sensor, night vision, and GPS tracker.
Bottom of the product has a 1/4”-20 tripod mounting screw, which fits the included mounting bracket. Dual ball joints on the mounting bracket allows for a wide range of motion when positioning.
Camera stores still images and video locally to the microSD card regardless of a paid plan. Images and videos are both 1920x1080 with a 90 degree field of view. Videos are 15fps. Video is blocky and highly compressed in both night and day modes, however still images are vastly clearer than video.
Included micro-SIM allows for the camera to stream telemetry data, images and video to the mobile app anywhere it has cell signal. Note a paid subscription is needed to see streamed media, yet status information is available regardless.
Mobile app has 5 pages. Account, status, settings, gallery, info. Upon camera setup, a 7-day elite plan trial automatically begins. During the trial period, still images were streamed to the app in a gallery. However, live video would not stream from the camera with the error message “no minutes remain”.
Overall, the Vosker V300 is a solid security camera for rapid deployment outdoors.

Vosker V300
This type of unit fills a specific need which has been only found using hunting cameras, which aren't very good, and with moderate resolution. I have a plot of land with a shed, no electric, no wifi and somewhere far from me. This works great as its self contained and the solar panel should prolong the battery life. The battery can be charged from my car bit would take awhile, so I will be buying 2 extra batteries which I can keep recharged and ready to exchange out. The solar panel does not appear to charge the batteries but only supplement them to increase charge life. There is a cellular modem built in, so a wifi connection is not necessary. There is however a monthly charge based on usage and storage. The unit only comes with a small 7 day trial subscription. None of the options for the subscription was unlimited so I can see this could get costly. Setting up was quirky, but Vosker customer service was good and got me up and running with a software update. Once I got everything working, the reception was good.
The unit is not small 5x3x4 inches, very angular and with an antenna and solar panel. It comes with a flexible sturdy mounting bracket, so securely mounting it was good, but 'hiding' it was not. It does stand out like something from 'StarWars'.
Setting up the unit was quirky for me as it would not obtain a signal. Vosker customer service was very helpful and after a software update, it started working. It requires an app which is easily downloaded, and intuitive.
Using the camera was ok. It is not like a home camera with very good resolution and speed. Connection to the camera takes about 20 seconds, and the resolution is moderate. Night vision is mainly b&w. Once connected it was responsive. You could not read an license plate or get face detail which would be difficult and with only the best home cameras, but this was not even close.
I found the motion detection acceptable although it seemed hard to trigger.
I will say it was one of the best cameras of its type but I guess they all have a long way to go for this specific market. So far battery life has been great, and maybe the solar panel is a big plus- time will tell.

16 GB MicroSD Card

The camera was mounted in a tree and pointed at a locked gate. The nighttime pictures were clear and a great quality. I was able to read the license plates of all cars pulling up to the gate after hours.
Installing the application was a breeze and set up completed without a problem.

I installed this camera a few days ago to monitor a remote building site. So, far the camera has been terrible. It loses connection constantly in spite of showing 4 to 5 bars of signal strength, having a full battery, having the latest firmware downloaded, and having purchased both live video streaming and the Elite package year of service. The camera was trial run for 48 hours, with two calls needed to customer service for lost signal, before installing in on a tree in the desired location, in full sun. Customer service assured me the trial run issues were solved and we would have no further issues with the device so we mounted it, made sure it was working, and left. The customer service agent seemed to lack any understanding of the intended use of their product as each time you call she will say you need to have the camera, "handy." Well, it's up a tree 400 miles away in a woods, so it's not exactly handy. The foreman on our job site has already had to climb up to turn the camera off and back on for me. That solved the issue for about 30 minutes before it lost contact with my phone again. Also, I was promised a call from someone higher up in customer service who could hopefully help either solve the problem or process a refund. No one has called. Worthless camera unless you or someone else can constantly re-set it on site and you want to call Vosker every day for tech support. The few moments the camera was connected the photo and livestreaming image quality was really good. Too bad it's useless for its intended application.

The Vosker V300 is a great security solution for the open outdoors. I love the ability to check on my property from just about anywhere. No more having to worry about how to check on your cabin, farm, etc. The V300 is a great security camera option when you don't have wifi service in your home/area.
The initial setup is a breeze. Before actually setting things up, make sure you charge the battery outside of the camera with the included cable to a full charge. Once charged, you can proceed with initial setup. Download the app, follow the instructions, choose from the different services offered, and you are up in running immediately. The camera comes with a SIM card pre-installed, and even a micro SD card to get you started.
So far, the Vosker V300 has been very reliable. I get instant notifications/photos as soon as it senses motion. The images are clear, and the live video streaming is also great. Night vision is not bad. You can see enough to get you by. A mount is also included to make placement a breeze. Just find a spot where you can screw in the mount, mount the camera, and you're good to go. The camera has a solar panel on top to keep the battery charged, which is incredible.
If you are in the market for cellular camera, the Vosker is definitely a great option. Plan prices start at $10/m.

Competent but unpolished security camera

While I was not familiar with Vosker, the V300 has several features nice features. The camera is cellular only (no wired or wifi option; nicely built (including external antenna); large battery with solar recharging; competent motion detection and ships with sim card.
Initial setup was not as smooth has my wifi cameras and required contact with technical support. The unit ships with an installed multivendor sim card which to my knowledge can only be activated by Vosker. Their plans are reasonable but fairly limited and range from $10 per month to $20 per month for a single camera. I am curious if a foreign sim such as a Google Fi data only sim would function but was unable to test this possibility and could not find information supporting this possibility. The units ships with a micro sd card which contains firmware and is removable. It was hidden in the plastic packaging and I initially could not find it and assumed that I need to supply one. The battery must be charged by an included proprietary charger (which USB-C most of my chargers would not supply the correct voltage which seems to be only 5V higher amperage). Solar charging seems to sustain the charge with moderate use, but it was quite sunny in the testing period.
The app is unpolished and some of the buttons get hidden when in the gallery view requiring a restart of the app. The gallery displays thumbnails which must be clicked to initiate a full hd video down load which takes over a minute despite good signal. I assume the videos are saved locally and only uploaded to the Vosker server and then to the app if requested to save battery life and data. This can be quite annoying compared with wifi cameras which may be routinely stored in the cloud or have access to faster upload which is not intermittent (as the cellular connects seems to be with my unit). This process makes a quick review of motion videos quite tedious. The video quality is quite compressed (H.264) 1920x1080 at `5 FPS only 1.6 MB for a 31 second video. A car tag would be difficulty to read unless slow moving and fairly close to the shot so positioning is crucial if that is your application. Overall mixed impression but certainly could improve with better data plans and app in the future.

Good day, Lorax. We hope you are well. We thank you very much for taking the time to review our camera, we truly appreciate it. We also appreciate your feedback concerning the features which you found problematic/lacking on the application and the camera itself. Concerning the SIM card itself, please note that the camera comes with two pre-activated SIM cards already inside which will automatically detect the best signal and prioritize that network. Therefore, there is no possibility of replacing the SIM cards inside with a foreign SIM Card. Thank you!-EM
