It's hard to be overly excited about reviewing a water filter. Hence the 4 stars. It works, I've been using these filters for almost 5 years. it's easy to load and takes a little finger strength to unload so your young kids may not be able to just undo it willy nilly, which is a good thing if you think about it...but that's more the design of the fridge and placement of the filter, I suppose. As far as taste goes, after the requisite gallon you run through and throw out after a new filter it's all I drink. Tap where I'm at is okay but filtered fridge water is better and yes you can tell the difference. I have this product on subscription because it's convenient and cheaper, like air filters a sub is the way to go.

Sure, I could have bought the less expensive water filters, but they didn't meet all the filtering needs. For me, more is better and it's worth paying the difference. This model is rated NSF/ANSI 42 and "establishes the minimum requirements for non-health-related contaminants (chlorine, taste, odor and particulates) that may be present in public or private drinking water." It's also NSF/ANSI 53 which "establishes the minimum requirements for the certification of POU/POE filtration systems designed to reduce specific health-related contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), that may be present in public or private drinking water."

Take old one out, out new one in. Easy to change out. Not much else to say really.

Works great in getting fresh cool water for my family

Works as advertised. I highly recommend to use the brand named filters. I used alternatives that fit, however they damaged my filter/reservoir had to have it replaced. Once I did I have had no issues and they fit perfectly no issues installing or removing other than a little muscle but no issues.

Easy to install water filter and keeps my water fresh.

At first, it puzzled me as the one I was replacing had on one O-ring at the top, while this one had two O-rings at the top. Also, the locking dial was skinnier. I actually went an ask for a return and refund. But after thinking about it for a moment, and comparing the two, I concluded that it ought to fit even with 2 O-rings because the length and shape of the filters were a pretty close to a twin match. So I gave it a try. It slid in easily, and locked down effortlessly, quickly, and securely. I am impressed and very happy, I quickly canceled the return and refund. And apologize for my earlier misjudgment. It's a great product, and it works beautifully. Thank you.

I have used this filter before and it works great. However, they are a little bit pricey. Due to the price of the name brand, I tried buying a replacement filter from a large, chain store and use their "store branded" filter, in order to save money. The package said it fit my Samsung model, but when I tried it, it leaked water and I was afraid it would damage the connection to my refrigerator. I took it back and went back to this model of filter. This Samsung branded filter fits like a glove and the water tastes great. We are on a well, so the filter really makes a difference. For two adults, on a well water system, we get about 6 months use out of one filter. I would recommend this product, even at this price point.

I debated on whether to get a Samsung filter or some aftermarket but after hearing some people say that it took more than 4 or 5 gallons on an aftermarket filter to get clear water, I decided to go with the Samsung. About 4 gallons is recommended after installation and prior to drinking. Installation was quick and maybe just a small dribble of water, if any. Make sure to match the exact filter with you refrigerator so that you have an exact fit; not all Samsung filters and refrigerators are interchangeable. The price is a bit high but I would recommend an OEM filter as apposed to an aftermarket based on what I have heard and my experience.

I am back paying for the brand name filter for my Samsung fridge. I tried other filters (ordering from discount filter sites and Amazon), but the taste and smell of our County water was not as good as it is when I use Samsung brand. I do not want to smell any chlorine, and few filters do a great job with Cl. Very satisfied with the Samsung, but they are a bit more expensive.

It was time to replace the water filter for my Samsung refrigerator(according to the panel display) and I had a choice to either use the manufacture's one or a generic one. I chose the manufacture's one this time,a little more expensive than the other,but probably next time I will try the generic.My reasoning was that the refrigerator was fairly new and I wanted to use the suggested filter for the sake of maintaining the warranty but I suspect the other would work as well,as I have been told by friends who have a similar type of appliance that's what they use without any problems.
