Wow! I never thought ide see a fast hard drive but here we are. This has been amazing for long term game, video, and archival storage. The only gripe I have is that it can get pretty noisy under read/write

For my first PC I ran with a WD Blue 1TB drive and that has endured 10 years of software installations and two complete PC builds, it truly is a marvel of endurance, and I'm quite satisfied with that original drive. This model being part of the more 'enthusiast' gamer audience seems to boast a marginally larger memory cache which may be useful, but the big draw is I feel its price relative to other traditional hard drives is quite competitive. As I use it right now it has not failed to become my big storage drive, I'd be content with another one of these down the line for further long term storage.

Top notch HDD, if you need large capacity more than speed then a WD HDD is always the way to go. Their warranty support is the best as well so if anything does go wrong they're easy to work with.

I was an IT pro for about 20 years. Now retired, I have several home computers. Almost exclusively, I rely on WD Black hard drives for reliability and longevity. I'm not a gamer, but do a lot of video editing of large files. I've never lost any data due to mechanical failure. SSD's are great, but I still rely heavily on mechanical hard drives, and WD Black is the one I look for when I need an additional drive. They last a very long time!

For mass storage that didn't need an SSD, this is the product to get. Might not be the fastest out there but faster then most other HDD and low price per TB make it a good buy.

Great drive with 4TB off storage. Only complaint is the clicking it makes some times. Even had the drive replaced under warranty and still had the same clicking on the new drive. Very audible. My office/pc gaming room is dead quiet and this clicking is annoying until I get a game or music playing.

    Really Sketchy Sounding Drive

I've got 12 1TB Blacks from 2008 that I've run in my server and have racked up over 50-65k hours on them. The drive with 65k hours is now finally starting to drop out of the system occasionally. However, they have exceeded my expectations by far, and I've been very happy with them. I bought two of these 4TB models to replace my aging 1TB drives. The first one arrived with the shipping box torn wide open, with no padding inside and a very clear imprint of where the box had been thrown against something hard enough to imprint the same marks into the inner hard drive box. That drive racked up 11 CRC errors on the first few hours I ran it, so its getting returned. The second drive I bought now has 700 hours on it so far, no problems with it. It is making a very loud clunking sound every 5 seconds though, which is really unsettling to listen to. According to Western Digital, this is normal, and is actually a feature they call PWL- Preventative Wear Leveling. I don't trust it, and will be keeping a redundant backup of everything on the drive.

I’ve been building PCs for almost 11 1/2 years and normally when I run into a major issue I go to the geek squad to double check my work and I took my PC in and it was a problem with one of my M.2 memory sticks, and my OS. I told the technician that my mechanical hard drive was OK and that there was nothing wrong with it. He called me back and said yes the mechanical drive was bad, and that they sent it off to be worked on turns out that mechanical drive was OK but it made me realize that I needed another hard drive so I went and I bought another one. These hard drives were hard and they last a really long time, if you’re using them on a daily basis, so I totally recommend the western digital product .

After looking over several types of hard drives I landed on this one to upgrade my 1TB to a 4TB and after transferring all my data to this one I still have over 2.5tb left. Installing is easy as well if you’ve never changed one before!

This drive is one of the best HDD for gaming and storage. I use it for all the latest games without any issues. With PC game pass, I am able to load lots of games using the 4TB available and not worrying about space anymore. The speed is good and doesn’t affect the games. Worth the purchase especially compared to price to the SSD drives for the same amount of space.

Replaced a failed drive in one of our 16' printers with this and it has worked flawlessly. Lots of read/writes off this every day and it has worked great. As fast as a standard HDD can be. Even though this is priced at the higher end of HDDs it is still VERY affordable for the storage you get, along with the great specs and reliability.

This hard drive works well and is just as fast as any solid state drive I've owned. Plenty of room @ 4TB, and im using it simply as extra storage for games and other software. However, it was on sale and I found it much cheaper than Best Buys sale price which was a bit upsetting after I already bought it on here.

Awesome Internal HDD. It does the job and I have stored my Skyrim mods inside of this thing with no issues. Does not come with the wires to plug in to the PC bay if you don't have one already.

The drive works good haven’t had any issues the only thing is it can be quite loud depending on what case you have but if you need something that works and gives you speed and performance without being an SSD or non memory express this this is the way to go

Super happy with it! Was in need for another hard drive solely to store my games, and I haven't experienced any problems with it. My games run with ease just like it have when they were installed on a SSD. Glad I got the 4TB it provides more than enough space for what I use it for.
