This in conjunction with a new processor was to be his big expense Christmas gift. This drive was replacing a 1 TB hybrid drive which has functioned perfectly fine for almost a decade, but is definitely showing its age in regards to speed when loading and playing new games and programs. i also tried a sandisk 1tb SSD that refused to boot from a new power up (i have left a review for that as well). I performed a clean install of windows on the drive and it was running absolutely beautifully, until i turned off the PC. the next time we booted it up, it would not load windows and the drive was not detected. I repeated this process 6 times all with the same result. I quick swapped his original hybrid drive into the system and boom it started right up with zero issues. I am not sure if the unit i got was defective or if there is just something about this generation drive not being compatible with the motherboard on initial start. It is very odd. Numerous restarts during the install and same day usage of it when i first installed it was fine. The problem would ONLY occur if there was a full power down and power up of the system. The only BIOS settings that were changed was what boot drive to use after using the WIN install media, so if there is a specific BIOS setting i need to change to go from old school spinning drive to this SSD, i would love any help i can get. Oddly, i have built over a dozen PCS all with SSD or NVME boot drives and not one of them has experienced this issue.

This drive is fast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Windows 10 loads in about 2 seconds and thats a lot quicker. Everything I do in windows is a lot faster. Didn't know if Best Buy sold the pcie adapter so picked one up somewhere else and installed this in my extra pcie slot and loaded windows up pretty quick and just runs like a new desktop. I was using a ssd sata drive and on a certain drive benchmark was averaging 4500 points and with this drive it is now averaging a little over 18,000 points.

Very fast drive worth the money

This is by far the fastest drive I have ever had or even used of anyone’s! My old computer took hours just to install windows10 while with this drive I could install it within 10-15minutes! Boot times are also very very fast we’re talking 10 seconds cold boot if that! Would recommend to anyone to buy that’s looking for a new drive.

I've been using WD for over 20 years and they are the only storage manufacturer I trust with my information. This SSD is easy to install as it's a m.2 so there's just nothing to do. Just insert into the m.2 slot, screw it down to the mounting screw and you're done. Load speeds are great and since there are no moving parts, super quite operation. Will I buy another? Most likely, I have a second m.2 slot.
