Customers are saying

Customers praise the BLACK SN750 500GB Internal Gaming SSD PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe for its performance, affordability, and ease of installation. Many reviewers highlight the fast boot times and ample storage capacity for the price. While some users noted that the drive can get warm under heavy use and may have compatibility issues with older systems, the positive feedback on speed and value outweighs these concerns. The overall experience is largely positive, making it a popular choice for gamers and other users.

Had to return this to store as I could not get windows to install on the drive. Still unclear as to why, I do not believe the MB is defective as it read the drives in both NVME slots. Nonetheless they fair to accept a windows install.

It works fine as an SSD, but when trying to use the WD clone tool to clone my operating system to it, when trying to boot from the resulting disk the boot would blue-screen saying some .sys file was missing/corrupt. I never had issues cloning to Samsung drives.

    I am no guru but my daughter is a gamer so this drive seems to fit the bill. She is running a Win10 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060-3GB Video card, Intel Pentium G4600 on an AsusTek Strix B250H Gaming motherboard. Old drive: WD Blue 250GB Internal SSD Solid State Drive - SATA 6Gb/s 2.5 Inch ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2 x64 (C) 2007-2018 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World : https://crystalmark.info/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/s [SATA/600 = 600,000,000 bytes/s] * KB = 1000 bytes, KiB = 1024 bytes Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 555.808 MB/s Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 499.828 MB/s Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 393.911 MB/s [ 96169.7 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 235.938 MB/s [ 57602.1 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 216.623 MB/s [ 52886.5 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 195.709 MB/s [ 47780.5 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 28.039 MB/s [ 6845.5 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 55.751 MB/s [ 13611.1 IOPS] New Drive: WD BLACK SN750 500GB NVMe Internal Gaming SSD - Gen3 PCIe, M.2 Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 3456.906 MB/s Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 2569.214 MB/s Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 941.199 MB/s [ 229784.9 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 823.136 MB/s [ 200960.9 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 318.192 MB/s [ 77683.6 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 241.825 MB/s [ 59039.3 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 44.173 MB/s [ 10784.4 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 121.927 MB/s [ 29767.3 IOPS] You can see this is a much faster drive. I did not have any luck with Acronis True Image WD Edition cloning software I download from WD’s website. For some reason her computer would not boot to the cloned image. Maybe it was just her machine, as others I have read had success. I ended putting a fresh install of Win !0 on the drive and copying over needed docs. I did notice that the two other SSD drives on her computer ran at 16° C and 23°C and this new drive was at 43°C. Not a problem in the large tower, but in a laptop you want to make sure you have ample cooling. Running PCMARK 8 Home Conventional 3.0 benchmark test I found the overall score was pretty close. It went from 3388 to 3326 which is weird that it went lower (both better than 66% of all results), however the fps went from 69.99 to 78.11. Not bad for a Pentium G4600 processor in my opinion. My daughter plays games like Overwatch with no lag at all. For the time I press the power button to login screen it is about 18 seconds. All-in-all you can’t go wrong with this drive. Fast, no sound and ample storage for the price. Hope this review helped you out. Cheers!

I have been using SSD drives for a while and they hardly impress me anymore. Yes, they are all faster than Hard Drives, even the hybrid ones but it is starting to feel they are all the same, with very few exceptions. The WD SN750 is one of those exceptions that got me excited again. I have a gaming laptop with 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, hexa-core Intel Core i7, running Windows 10. It has enough power for most of my games and video editing/processing, except for the drive. Even after using a 480GB drive from Samsung, I was not getting what I wanted and I have no patience waiting games or files to load. That is, until I installed this SSD drive. I had never experienced this kind of performance consistently from an SSD drive, not even on my even more powerful gaming PC also using an SSD drive. This is not a SATA drive. Instead, it is compatible with the faster M2 interface. To be fair, I also have a 970 EVO SSD in my laptop. It performs very similarly but I felt the SN750 was better under some circumstances as explained below. I ran PCMark 8 and it showed just 2 points slower than the 970 EVO on the storage side but Final Fantasy benchmark took exactly the same time to load with either drive. Only once did it show a .02 (20.55 x 20.53) point difference against the SN750. To me, that was a tie. Here is where it becomes interesting; those tests were run right after the laptop was turned on. After playing a couple of games, I ran the same tests and the SN750 outperformed in every category. It seems that it runs cooler than the other does. It comes with a heat sink and probably uses less power too. That keeps it cooler and makes it perform better overall. To me, that was the real test and it explains why I said earlier that I had never experienced this kind of performance consistently from another SSD drive until now. Again, I do not trust benchmarks alone. Performance was equally impressive when running Adobe Premiere Pro. If you edit videos, this is the SSD you should have. My only criticism is that it does not come with a software to clone non-WD drives unless you buy it from them. Fortunately, I had a free cloning tool that worked without a problem. With that kind of performance and a five-year warranty, I would recommend this drive to anyone who plays game or does serious video editing. You will not regret the extra money you might pay for this premium SSD drive. It is worth every penny. WD got it right.
