Everything about this drive suggested that it would be a great solution to the storage issue with my laptop. HOWEVER, this drive has been nothing but an absolute nuisance, and complete an utter garbage. Initially I was thinking possible user error, as the drive just wasn't showing up at all, so I shut my laptop down and removed and reinstalled the drive. Upon restarting my PC the drive was showing and formatted no problem. Since this has been done I have encountered further issues with this drive such as it randomly not responding, going into read-only while copying or downloading files, and my personal favorite, where the drive does not even show up after a cold boot, or botting for the PC from a full shut down. At first I assumed it was a BIOS issue, but after further investigation I found that not even BIOS could find the drive until the PC was rebooted. In order to download anything to this drive, I have to shut down the PC, and then restart just to get the drive to allow me to write anything to it, and hope that whatever I am downloading to it, goes quickly before the drive decides to not allow anything to be written to it. I also noticed in Task Manager that when downloading something, active time would show anywhere between 7% to 15%, then out of nowhere would jump to 100% for roughly 5 seconds, then drop to 0% where the download would stop and say that the specified drive was not found. I could NOT recommend this product to ANYONE even if I was being paid to do so.

Will need a heatsink, but Stable and Fast

This SSD has enough performance to handle the PC gaming. An excellent add-on for PC builders. Installation is easy enough, however a heatsink is necessary to prevent damage to the product or the PC. Not including a heat sink makes this product cheaper, but creates the hassle of having to find a compatible accessory thus prolonging the experience. Not a bad but it really depends on how soon you want to use this. Whenever you choose to get a heatsink and install it, the performance of the SSD is well worth the wait. It booted and blended well with my PC, no issues with recognition. Having more storage frees up my computer and makes uploading and downloading faster, not just for gaming. Games on the SSD run smooth, fast and clear. I haven't had any desyncing issue or loss of data in the time that I've installed the SSD. Overall I love the option of saving my games on a different drive so that I don't slow my processing speed on my default folders. If I ever build another PC, I will make sure to get this one again.

It didn't work with our Dell XPS 13 9370 laptop even if it was supposed to be compatible. We installed the WD software but it couldn't detect the drive. Ended up returning this and buying another WD drive with higher specs and that worked. Could have been a dud, or could have been just the model.

My Acer Nitro latpop was running out of memory, so I was on the hunt for more space. With so many different options, brands, etc. it was a bit difficult choosing the right one. I read through forums, reviews, and just about anything else that could lead me towards the right direction. The opportunity came up to get my hands on the new D_BLACK SN770 1TB Internal PCIe Gen 4 x4 Solid State Drive, and I jumped on it. With the great reputation that WD's Black series memory devices has, and the countless numbers of great reviews, this solid state drive does not disappoint. On my Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop, things get a bit more complicated when wanting to do internal mods. This is the newer model that did not have the small popout compartments, so I had to take the bottom half of the laptop off in order to get the D_BLACK SN770 1TB Internal PCIe Gen 4 x4 Solid State Drive in. On an actual desktop pc, it would have been SO MUCH easier. At least if would have had I installed it in my Aurora R7. Aside from that, installation is simple. Now for the good part... the D_BLACK SN770 1TB Internal PCIe Gen 4 x4 Solid State Drive is incredible! The writing speeds are super fast! You have to love solid state drives... no noise or any of the drawbacks of hard disk drives. The D_BLACK SN770 1TB Internal PCIe Gen 4 x4 Solid State Drive has been extremely reliable and stays pretty cool. For the money, you cannot beat the D_BLACK SN770 1TB Internal PCIe Gen 4 x4 Solid State Drive. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for more memory.

Going on two weeks and the serial number is not valid for registration. Sent pictures and escalated the issue. This is a repeat offence. as the same thing happened to another Black WD m.2 sold at best buy. No warranty without a proper serial number and registrations.

This hard drive worked perfectly in my laptop. I was needing to add some additional storage to my gaming / graphic design laptop, and this hard drive filled this need quite well. Installation was quick and easy. It was a simple matter of opening up my laptop, inserting this drive at about a 45 degree angle into the appropriate slot, pushing downward to seat it fully into the slot, and then using a small screw to hold it into place. My laptop recognized it right away, and I was able to rename and format it using Windows Disk Management utility. The drive is fast, and my games load quite quickly. Being a solid state drive, it doesn't impact my battery life as badly as a traditional, spinning hard drive would. This is good as I like to work from coffee shops, and I don't always have ready access to an electrical outlet. 1TB of space offers plenty of room for both a handful of casual games and the image assets that I need for my design work. I installed my graphic design applications on my boot drive, and I use this drive to store my background images, logos, and project files. I wish the drive were just a bit bigger, as I'm probably going to fill this within the next year or so. When that happens, I'll probably either replace this with a higher capacity drive or supplement it with an external hard drive. I am quite pleased with this hard drive and would recommend it to anyone looking for some fast, secondary storage.

Ample size and speed from Western Digital Black

This Western Digital Black NVME hard drive is blazing fast and offers ample disk space in one of the easiest PC upgrades out there. If you are stuck with a laptop that only comes with 256GB hard drive, which most sub-$700 laptops come with, this is a cheap way to increase size and have blazing speed opening games, apps, multitask, and video editing. Doing a clean install of Windows 10 on this NVME disk is super easy. Windows 10 will install based on your computer serial numbers. Installation was simple. Absolutely saw no lag or delays in opening up games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Valorant was not a problem. Creating 4K videos for upload onto Youtube is great now that you don't have to find a secondary space to store your raw videos while you edit it. You can edit it straight on the main C: drive with this installed. If you have the luxury of having a spare PCIe slot for a secondary NVME SSD, than this is a no brainer. Will be much smaller than a 1TB spinning disk drive. Overall, definitely either upgrade your small hard drive or add to expand your storage with his super fast hard drive from WD Black.

Nice budget drive. Not for PS5

Pro: -Price -Performance Con: -Doesn’t meet spec for PS5 This NVMe is a good choice for someone looking at a more budget friendly drive. Even though it’s at a lower price, it’s still fast as expected, and should meet the needs for all but the heaviest of tasks. The specs don't meet the requirements for the PS5 so it’s not recommended to be used for that. I didn’t have any issues with the initial installation. It was recognized right away and all it needed was to be initialized. Nitpicking, but it doesn’t look like the clean black labeled back like it is on the package, but rather a black bare pcb. It doesn’t really matter since it’ll likely be covered up by the heatsink anyway. A heatsink should be used for Gen 4, since it can get hot, especially under heavy usage. Performance wise, it doesn’t have the fastest speeds, but for gaming or light content creation, this should be fine. I can play games while recording a video in OBS without any encoding errors. Editing video shouldn’t be a problem with smooth playback and didn’t have any stuttering or hitch in the rendering.
