The easiest upgrade and it made accessing games so much less of a hassle! I should have done this sooner, but I did not realize how simple it was to add storage. Sony made accessing the port a breeze with a tooless removal for the outer shell. After that, one screw holds on the cover where the drive goes, plug the drive in, put it back together, turn on the PS5 and follow the on-screen instructions. You can then use the storage settings menu to quickly transfer your data from the small drive that it came with, to your much larger secondary drive! No more having to constantly delete games to sdd a new one!!

The most frustrating part of a PlayStation+ membership is the size of your onboard storage. This thing fixes that. Great SSD.

I’ve been using Western Digital storage products since I started using, upgrading, and building my own PCs since the early 2000’s, and I’ve always had a great experience with them. I’ve never experienced a sudden and unexpected drive failure (knock on wood), and they’ve always been very reliable. When the company pivoted into the NVME storage market from their traditional platter storage platform years ago, I didn’t hesitate to try them out and had a great experience with their NVME offerings inside my laptops and desktop PCs as well. So when I learned that WD is also offering official PS5-licensed drives with a 5-year warranty, I didn’t hesitate to give them a shot and I’m glad I did. The SN850P drive was very simple and easy to install. If this is your first time upgrading your drive on the PS5, there are plenty of tutorial videos online. The airflow-optimized heatsink looks cool and performs well. If you want to inspect what it looks like underneath the heatsink, you just take off the six T5 screws and peel the top heatsink cover off (see pic). I benchmarked the SN850P via CrystalDiskMark 8.0.4 before installation on my Windows PC, and it scored 5994.46 MB/s sequential read and 6326.89 MB/s sequential write. The rest of the stats can be viewed from my screenshot. What this means is that the SN850P lives up to its marketing claims and is fast and efficient. With the SN850P’s great performance, long 5-year warranty, and efficient and cool-looking heatsink, I was initially going to rate it as 5-Stars. I feel inclined toward a 4- or 4.5-Stars ratings, however, due to its current price. At $0.11/GB for the 2TB SN850P, it’s almost twice as expensive as other brand-name 2TB PCIe Gen4 x4 drives. Even the slightly older 2TB WD SN850X with a 5-year warranty is currently selling for $0.07/GB. If you got the coin, then by all means get the latest and greatest SN850P for the PS5 from WD. But if you’re price-conscious like me and want better value, then either wait for the price to come down or get the older Western Digital SN850X.

With how large games are on PS5 i need more storage ASAP. I was tired of having to delete and redownload games so bought this on sale and love it. Just as fast if not faster. So far had no issues with it and my main games that i actually do play often. Definitely been telling friends to buy one! Installation is also very easy and fast.

I love how much more space I have on my PS5. It took me barely 5 minutes to install this and have my system back together and connected to my TV. The speed is amazing and you see no dropoff from built in memory.

Got me the additional storage I needed since PS5 skimped on that. Can fit plenty of games, clips, whatever I want. Games load in faster than they did on the included hard drive space. I'm very happy.

The WD BLACK SN850P 2TB NVMe SSD for PS5 is a must-get upgrade. It's reliable, fast, easy to install, and should store games for as long as you own and use your PS5. This adds 2TB on top of the default 600GB of console storage. Furthermore, all PS4 games can be stored on an external SSD. So this is internal SSD essentially ensures your PS5 can download any game going forward.

This was perfect for expanding the memory in my PS5. Installation was super simple as well. This is much better than just connecting an external hard drive. You can install and play games with this internal memory expansion.

The WD - BLACK SN850P 2TB Internal SSD was easy to install in my PS5 & it works just fine. If you need that extra internal storage space, the WD BLACK SN850P 2TB is for you. I do suggest you watch a video or 2 before trying to install the chip yourself. You don't want to end up breaking your PS5 or the chip during installation.

Was a little frustrated that I was really limited at how many games I could have at once, but this was the perfect solution. Saves you a lot of hassle of being deleting and reinstalling games since you can have a lot of games at once. Super easy and fast to install.

I was very pleased with this product! I bought it over a year ago and I haven't had any issues. Super easy to install and starts working immediately! I was looking back at my order history to check the name brand for recommending to another gamer. So, since I was here I felt like giving this product it's Props!!! Oh and I still have tons of space left and I downloaded several games or more...!

Super easy! Had it installed, put back together, and formatted in about 3 minutes! I chose this one because it is officially licensed by/for the PlayStation 5. Plenty of storage as of right now, lol.

Setup took minimal time and required 1 small screwdriver. Simple instillation and, after a quick update, my storage increased. Download speeds have been fast and I’ve yet to notice any input or output delay from video games stored on it. I honestly wish I bought it sooner.

With games getting bigger & bigger, you'll definitely need a storage upgrade. I've noticed a lot of games generally load slightly faster sense I've installed them on this. Easy to install & use.

Easy to install. My nephew did it for me actually. Am able to access games stored on it the same as actual console SSD. Very quick transfer rate.

Simple and straightforward to install in the PS5. If you’re still apprehensive after reading the instructions, I’d recommend watching one of the many YouTube videos showing someone doing this in real time. Once installed, formats quickly and has its own storage capacity meter under system settings. Now I can have a great deal of games installed without worrying about running out of space. Fantastic upgrade.

There's nothing really too complicated about this M.2 SSD. It's not just PlayStation branding on a SSD. It takes away a lot of the guesswork with compatibility for the PS5 because it's made for the PS5. It's designed with a heatsink and fits inside the PS5 with no issues. What's impressive is the speed! Everything loads up so quickly! Unfortunately, if you're transferring games from an external drive to the SSD, it will only go as fast as the external drive, so it'll be MUCH slower and not indicative of the speed performance the SN850P delivers, so keep that in mind. Installing games after downloading them was noticeably quicker than the stock SSD the PS5 comes with. And playing them immediately after, I didn't experience any slowdown, not even after 2 hours of continuous gameplay of Spider-Man Remastered in 4K, 120Hz VRR. To get a better idea of the SSD's capabilities, I temporarily installed the SN850P on my desktop PC to run a CrystalDiskMark benchmark test on it. The results were surprising. Sequential Read: SEQ1M Q8T1: 7377.19 MB/s SEQ128K Q32T1: 7376.76 MB/s Sequential Write: SEQ1M Q8T1: 6693.06 MB/s SEQ128K Q32T1: 6695.91 MB/s Random Read: SEQ1M Q8T1: 4816.91 MB/s SEQ128K Q32T1: 88.99 MB/s Random Write: SEQ1M Q8T1: 4718.49 MB/s SEQ128K Q32T1: 300.34 MB/s The random write speeds are fantastic! So, not just for the PS5, it makes a great M.2 SSD for a PC as well. Be aware that the heatsink is just under 0.5" so you'll need the clearance. It's also slightly wider than the average M.2 SSD because of its heatsink design. I'd say about 1mm wider. Price competitively, will absolutely fit the PS5, and just incredibly fast, I can definitely recommend getting this SSD. I'd even go as far as recommending it for PC. The fantastic random write speeds make transferring a large size of a numerous amount of small files more speedy and less of a chore.
