WD - 1TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive

Drive installed easily in desktop as backup. Although box said backup software was included, it was not and drive had to be recognized and formatted prior to use. Not unusual in today's marketplace where box or vendor descriptions are promised but rarely delivered. The drive performs correctly, is fast and quiet.

A great general purpose HD. Good option for a storage drive with an SSD boot drive. 1 year warranty though but it wasn't expensive so it is easily replaced if it goes bad. But I had good luck wit WD drives.

This drive replaced a failing Seagate 3 TB drive. That drive was about a year and a half old. I read a lot of good reviews about this one and a really bad 40% failure rate one about the Seagate 3 TB. This drive is cool and quiet. I'm using Linux Mint 17.2 KDE. I'm going to limit desktops to 1 TB drives from now on.

Best bang for your buck hands down. Great price. The 5400 RPM speed is ideal because it makes it as quiet as possible for a HDD and the slower speed allows it to last longer. Do not believe the hype about getting a faster speed HDD like a 7200 RPM. Faster speeds surely equals louder sounds and an expedited product life. I use the WD Blue 5400 in various sizes for storage drives in my computers and servers (that are not on all the time).

    I've always trusted Western Digital...

I cannot recall ever having a Western Digital drive just outright fail on me in my 20 years of using them. Can't say the same for others (I'll name no names here). I really like the WD Blue drives because they offer great performance per dollar. The Blues are what I use as my go to mass storage and backup drives in my main system which has an SSD OS drive. I am also currently using the Blue drive I bought here (thus prompting my review of it) to hold all of my game installs. It's plenty fast enough for my gaming needs. I'll admit I'm spoiled to SSD's for productivity uses, but these are not slow drives. I very much recommend them.

WD 1TB Internal Hard Drive Works Great

Had a Internal Hard drive that had a sudden unrecoverable crash. I had everything backed up on an old secondary drive but I bought the new WD 1 TB new drive. Drive works great - quiet and quick. The software to clone the new drive was ok, (and free) but not great. First of all there was only 1 small reference as to where to obtain the software and then they didn't mention that you needed to initialize the new drive before anything would work. I've done it all before so I got it done, but it is not SIMPLE. However the drive is great so far. The 1 TB mainstream drive is 7200 rpm but the bigger ones are 5400 rpm.

This hard drive is fast and has lots of storage. It was easy to install and came with all necessary parts. Instructions are included in the box. It is a good unit to upgrade a smaller hard drive.

    Purchased as PS4 HD replacement

I bought this HDD because I heard it was the best bang for your buck to replace your PS4 hard drive for more storage space. It requires removing the hard drive out of its external shell. It was easy to do. The added bonus is that you can use your former PS4 hard drive with this shell. So you still get to have an external hard drive along with the expanded hard drive space for your console. The result works as intended and well worth doing in order to optimize your cost and not have to waste good components.

Nice Hard Drive For A Home Computer

This hard drive is a good drive for casual games up to some 3D rendered games, and storage. While it doesn't have the speed of a SSD, it is a nice hybrid of speed and size.

7200 rpm is still pretty fast and dependable. This WD 1TB Blue has been a buy for every system I've built over the passed six years. What used to sell for around $200, you can get now for $60 is a huge selling point. These drives are great as a master or slave storage drive. Never had any of these fail on me. I don't recommend WD green drives (due to their very slow performance and non-stressful intended use and if you force them to run hard for gaming which will wear those drives down to corruption). My WD blues are still running after six years with no signs of slow downs or sector read/write errors. Will buy again! Kudos Western Digital.

Reliable Hard drive that I am using for back-up storage. Certainly the 7200rpm speed and RAM cache help speed up performance. However, it's important (if possible) to test each drive before putting them into daily use.

Picking out the best hard drive will ultimately depend on what you need it for. For the best laptops and game consoles, you’re going to want to pick up a 2.5-inch or external hard drive. But, if you’re looking for some archival storage for the best gaming PCs, you’re going to want to go for the fastest and most capacious hard drive you can find. We know, it’s confusing, but we’ve done all the heavy lifting and have brought you this list of the best hard drives. No matter what you need to do, you’ll find the best hard drive for your needs right here

My Hard Drive just crashed and I had to replace it with a new one. So I got the WD Mainstream 1TB internal HD and its just works like a smooth machine. I have the speed, and the capacity to store tons of pics and videos on my hard drive now. Great value for money!

I have used WD drives for over 40 years, both internal and external, and they have never failed me. I got this drive as a second disk for my new computer. I plan to install Linux on it, and configure the machine to dual boot. I chose this particular drive for its speed - 7200rpm. I know it will work in the configuration I plan, as I have done it before. I got it at a very good price during the Black Friday sale.
