Customers frequently mention the ample storage, strong performance, and ease of installation as significant advantages of the Blue 2TB PC Internal Hard Drive. The drive's affordability is also frequently praised. A small number of users noted the lack of an included SATA cable and some difficulties with the included cloning software.

This Western Digital Mainstream 2TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive is a very useful product that I have been using it for my desktop at home for years. Powered up immediately for the new install of windows 10 with plenty of storage left to input data - quiet and quick! Got a great deal on it when I bought it. Now I have 2 of the same size in my tower aside from 3 external hard drives (I shoot a lot of videos, pictures plus capture audio hence the huge amount of storage needed). Would buy another one at the drop of a hat! When I am choosing hard Drive Western Digital brand is a very reliable name I would like to choose. Thank you WD!

We Love Western Digital Drives

I’ve been using Western Digital drives for a long, long time. Western Digital creates drives in a number of price and quality ranges. Most of the time these drives are color-coded with blue, red, black, and so on, to show which range they are in. Maybe they thought this was too confusing for some consumers, so you can also find the exact same units with branding such as Mainstream.
When my son’s main hard drive began failing, we promptly ordered him a replacement blue 2TB hard drive. It comes with this Mainstream branding on it, but when you look at the specs you can see it’s a blue WD drive.
In the overall scope of Western Digital drives, blue is the home-use variety. It’s certainly reliable – we have many of our home systems with blue drives in them which have been going strong for years and years. On the other hand, blue is cheaper than the high-end drives used in mission critical banking applications. We just don’t need that kind of speed.
Installation is a breeze. Rather than risk dealing with corrupted data, we completely pulled the old drive out of my son’s system and put this new one in. We did a wholly fresh install of Windows on the new drive. Then we put the old drive into an external docking station and moved the data off that old drive and onto a new external drive. That way my son could poke through the old drive’s data at his leisure, safely, and get off any data files he might need. Plus now he would also have an external drive to use for backup purposes going forward.
He’s been using this new drive for nearly a month now and it’s working like a charm. I would expect no less. I have one of my own systems that has a Western Digital drive in it that’s in heavy use, now ten years old, and it just began developing bad sectors recently. So they are definitely workhorses.
Well recommended.
The one we got for this situation was the 2TB model. It has a 64MB cache buffer and a standard SATA interface.

I bought this drive to replace my failing 1TB in my 4 year-old PC. Installed easily and copied everything over, and then easy to swap to primary drive. Quiet and fast, and a great price for twice the space.

I bought this for a gaming computer I was building. I wanted to have a large capacity because of the large amount of games I have, and to have some room left over for the future. This drive has been nothing but reliable in the two months that I've had it so far. Not as fast as a solid state drive, but MUCH cheaper than one of those, and very dependable. The only thing I would have to say is that it is pretty pricey. Unless you REALLY need the 2TB, I would have to suggest going for the 1TB model, which is significantly cheaper. Either way though, WD is a good brand, very reliable, you really can't go wrong with a hard drive from them.

My power supply went out on my computer and I thought the hard drive crashed, so I went to get this drive. It's 2TB where my previous drive is only 1TB. I can't believe that I keep running out of space on the 1TB. I did discover the 1TB is okay, it was just the boot sector that got corrupted, so I can't boot from it, but put it in a USB case and can access it fine. This new 2TB drive was easy to install and seems to be running faster than the 1TB did—or maybe it's just because of the clean install of Windows 10.

Best value/reliablility per dollar hands down. I always buy WD Black...always for game data drives and I keep reading new reviews about these new wd blue 7200 1tb drives. I rarely stray from proven tech but for $48.00 each delivered I had to try I mean what is the worst that can happen??? lose $100 bucks. I totally redo my whole system 250gb ssd with windows 10 pro installed on it,128 m.2 ssd empty. and 2 of these wd blue 1tb in raid 0 for my steam library and games 1.8tb total. Drives are amazing... numbers and everything everyone else says they are is dead on and I could not be happier. Anyone on the fence on game drives for a raid should not even think twice on buying these drives. Will update down the road if any issues but do not expect any with WD quality.
I had to edit and put this in..... I have my tower on my desk 3 feet from me with 2 27" inch monitors. I have been on my computer 10+ hours a day sense buying these drives and I can not even hear them running/spinning up. Anyone saying they vibrate or are loud or any other crap like that have them in place with 1 screw and it most likely is not the only screw loose. :)

I recently purchased this drive for more storage, my other (same model) is 4 years old and still going strong. It’s quiet, and is plenty fast enough for things like music and movies. I also keep the majority of my games on this drive. Loading times are longer compared to games installed on my SSD (still not bad,) but it’s to be expected. I have no complaints.

I have owned other WD drives and have always been impressed by their quality and ability to store my digital information. I create videos from my vacation pictures and from my family celebrations . I needed the larger capacity and the speed to keep hours of these videos for sharing with friends and family. This product works very well for that purpose.

Bought this to add more storage to my desktop. Easy to install with little to no effort needed. Getting Windows 10 to recognize it took a little effort but very easy to do if you know what settings you need to adjust, Excellent price for the drive. Looking to purchase a few more.

This is the recommended replacement drive for my security system and was easy to install and is able to handle the 16 cameras around my home. It has no trouble recording all the video from each camera and reviewing times or events has been easy. My original drive failed after eight years, I'm hoping this one does as well.

Pros,
I got on sale and use 500 rewards points for gift cards so I didn't pay much.
At current price of 50 it's a great deal for the amount of data it can store.
It's quiet and doesn't use as much power as 7200RPM drive.
It has a 256MB drive cache.
It's fast at reading and writing data.
It's a great drive for achieving data that you want to keep for a while and don't tend to access as much. I could see using this in a RAID 1 configuration as well.
It has a lower average failure rate than Seagate.
Cons,
It's not a good OS, gaming or regular use drive.
This is the AZ series which is a SMR drive which only write data to empty tracks instead of overwriting existing tracks which don't become open until the drive goes into idle state and then the drive will delete that data. This isn't good if you're constantly writing data. If this is the case go with the RZ series because it may have only a 64MB drive cache, but it a PMR drive which is much better for writing and rewriting data constantly.
Since this is a SMR drive it wouldn't be ideal for a RAID 0 at all.
Not the best warranty of only two years, the Black series has a 5 year warranty if your worried about longevity.
It's still prone to drive failure, remember to go online and register your drive with Western Digital just in case, for as inexpensive as this drive is I'd buy a second one as a backup or have another backup source like a cloud service, Blu-ray burner or an external HDD.

I purchased a new computer recently with a solid state hard drive which was smaller than I needed for the files and pictures on my old PC. I purchased this Western Didital 2TB hard drive for a 2nd internal HD to have access to the files without overloading the main HD. The new WD hard drive has worked flawlessly since I installed it. The only downside was it didn't come preformatted for Windows 11 which would have been nice but wasn't that difficult to do.

Bought the drive and installed it myself. No problem. Getting it to work with the software provided turned out to be a bit harder. Probably just me. I've never been the sharpest tool in the shed, but finally used
Geek support (which I had already purchased a year's worth). They had a bit of a problem too, or at least it appeared they did. Once it was running it has been working without a flaw.

when needing to add storage for backups and data, there was no doubt that I would choose a Western Digital drive based on many past experiences with them. This Drive has and is continuing to live up to WD's reputation for durability and dependable performance. installation is simple and straight forward, definitely a bargain for the price.

My son needed more storage space on his gaming machine. Not super fast space (he has a SSD for that), just regular space. We wanted something reliable and affordable. The Western Digital Drive fits the bill perfectly. Easy to install and configure (on Windows 10). Great value.

Got this for my surveillance camera system. Works great and was very easy to install in just a few minutes. Will buy another for my second house surveillance camera system. The one that came with the system had little room to record. This one has enough memory for what I need. Great price and was on sale too :)
