Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the Blue 4TB PC Internal Hard Drive's large storage capacity, reliability, and ease of installation. Many appreciate its affordable price and quiet operation. A small number of customers noted the lack of an included SATA cable and expressed some concerns about the warranty length. Not CMR
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got cheesed with an SMR drive instead of a CMR drive like a lot of the other reviewers got. This ones not as good as an CMR drive, but I have a SMR drive from Seagate that is terrible when updating games from my steam library, Its a shame I got the 256mb cache (SMR) drive when the 64mb (CRM) drive is what was advertised, but still a good drive for the price

Pre-owned?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very upset with this purchase. The drive itself looks like it's perfectly fine, however when I received the drive it was in a box that had been pre-opened and the static bag that The Drive comes in was also opened. This was supposed to be brand new. Not pre-used, pre-owned. NEW. I will be returning this product immediately, because there isn't even a card inside that showcases that this has been checked by quality control and assured that this Drive is fully functional without errors. If I wanted to buy pre-owned I would go to Craigslist.

My Go-To Spinning Hard Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute best bang for your buck. I own dozens of these. I have yet had one fail on me, (however, I have had problems with some of their other hard drives like the very over-hyped WD Black.) What makes this drive so great is the design and the price per GB. First, the platters inside rotate at 5400 RPM unlike some drives that rotate at 7200 RPM. Why is this good? Well, since a hard drive is often active the slower rotation speed causes less wear and tear on the internal mechanisms unlike the faster 7200 RPM. Some might say a 5400 RPM drive is so much slower than a 7200 RPM. That is nonsense because data shows the speed is really not noticeable for almost all users. Another great feature about the 5400 RPMs is that this hard drive will be a lot quieter than a 7200 RPM drive. It is important to note a common hard drive that is used in servers that run all day, 365 days per year, 24 hours per day spins at 5900 RPM. This drive can essentially be used as a cheap in-home server drive. The WD Blue HDD is my go to drive if I want to archive or store data and not have to worry about the drive failing. The only bad thing I will say about this product is not the product itself but WD's warrant and customer support. They are the worst! I have had to return several of their WD Black drives and it was one of the worst experiences I ever had in over 30 years. Their warranty is essentially worthless because after all the work to get a drive replaced they will not replace it with a new drive but rather a refurbished drive. That is their policy. Buy this drive knowing that returning it or getting WD to honor their warranty is not going to happen.

Great Storage Upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded my desktop with this 4TB Blue drive and it’s been great so far. Installation was simple, and it was recognized right away without issues. The speed is solid for everyday use—loading files, running programs, and storing large amounts of data without lag. It’s very quiet while running, and the storage space is more than enough for my needs. A reliable and affordable choice if you’re looking to expand your PC’s storage.

DOA
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Git hone ready to install new HDD. Opened the box and the first thing I see is the seal is torn open (the plastic bag tge dive is in.) I have attached a pic). Installed anyways just because I had day off and was ready to get things re-installed. Hard drive not recognized. You can see it in device manager but does not show details as far as size etc.. just says unable to.. Yada yada.. I double checked disk management and it does not show up. You can feel the drive has power but that's it. I swapped out cables with my working secondary drive (even though the cables I was using work fine and this drive is replacing the one I just took off of these cables) and still dead. Pretty disappointed in getting a drive that was clearly used before. Will be taking back in AM and hopefully they have another one.

Great dependable product for backups.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this to use as a backup drive for all my media. I use both ssd and mechanical drives, but this is solely for backup. The drive is simple to install, and works as expected. I bought this WD drive for its quality and dependability, I am not using it for performance, so I won't grade performance. Im happy with this drive and glad I was able to purchase it on sale. I would recommend this for backup storage.

Lots of storage for videos and music
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whatever the reason you need lots of storage, from games to videos, to music you can trust Western Digital to keep your data safe. I've been using WD storage for over 30 years and they've never let me down as other hard drive manufacturers have. I remember when WD floppy discs were the main storage media. Back then a hard drive with a 40GB capacity would cost a customer over two hundred dollars! Now we can buy a 4TB HD for less than $100. That's progress! Nothing else seems to go down in price as technology does. Believe me, 30 years from now you'll look back and wonder how you survived with just 4 terabytes capacity and your kids will wonder what the heck a disk drive was...

Great Data Backup option!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Big decisions on going all non-spinning or spinning... WD hard drives have always been very reliable. This 4Tb is replacing a 2Tb dated from 2012 that is still running. Obviously, non-spinning are a "million times" faster and are the best for running an operating systems, games and apps, but there is something to say about the good ole tried and true WD blue hard drives. In my case, I am using this as storage for backup data so there is no constant usage day-to-day. These are SMR drives but my usage works well with that writing technology as opposed to CMR. And the price is right! Also, no issues about noise, pretty quiet. I also just read where spinning hard drives can be more power efficient than ssd. Anyway, until I can figure out a better long term solution to backup data, these drives are a great value.

Working well as a back-up drive.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drive is working as expected. At first, I bought an enclosed 2.5" drive from Western Digital but returned it in favor of this drive. I put this drive in an external enclosure and use it for doing backups when I need to and don't let it run all the time that the computer is on. It is working great so far. I am, however, very unhappy with the new versions of drives from major manufacturers of pre-enclosed drives because of the new technique of attaching the interface directly to the drive, eliminating the possibility of replacing the case and interface due to a future interface problem. In my experience, the drives are much less likely to fail compared to the interface. But when the interface does fail, you can't replace it because of the directly soldered connections to the drive. The data is what is valuable, the warranty means nothing other than the confidence of the manufacturer of how long they think the drive might last. My opinion born out by involvement in the computer business since 1978.
