I bought this to replace the original one that came in my son's laptop. It installed with no problem and runs perfectly.

I had an old windows 7 laptop that wasn't working good great, so I tested the drive and it failed. I went online to see what BestBuy had for replacement drives. The drive size that I needed was on sale for a good price so I stopped by to pick one up. I installed the new drive and used the cloning software and cable I got at BestBuy, everything worked great and I was able to do the free upgrade to windows 10. Now I have a like new up to date laptop for the price of a new drive.

Great quality HD. Easy to install. I've always liked WD over their competitors due to their lower fail rates.

1st one I bought was a failure. Tried to install the firmware on the PS3 system and would not recognize the files. Actually called Sony and they said the system was the issue and it needed to be replaced. Uninstalled it and replace the old hard drive (120gig) and the system fired right up and didn't show any issues. Returned it with no problems and got a new one. Installed the 2nd one and the firmware with no issue . Since then I have downloaded several big games and all is good.

I have an extensive collection of cat pictures and this hard drive is able to store nearly all of them. The pictures are mostly of the cat star, but there are a few close ups of paws and other mighty fine feline parts. All very hi res images of at least 10 megapixel. You can really zoom in on the cat tongue doing its thing and the starry night with various asteroids. I figure I will need a 1 TB drive in the next couple of years because the cats expire after a long life and are replaced with new ones anc then the whole photo series has to start all over again.

Easy to use and very portable! We like how fast and the speed of the device.

And to upgrade from Vista to Windows 10. I got speed and much quieter than my old Seagate.

I have a macbook from early 2008 , it was slowing down and my memory filled up. I didnt want to back everythin up on an external hard drive & have to deal with that every time I needed an old file. So I was so excited when I found out I could install a larger internal hard drive. The process was easy. I backed everything up on my external hard drive, used the removal/installation procedures I found online, reinstalled my OS & then with a click of a few buttons put all my data, photos, docs & applications back on my computer. My computer is faster now & I wont have to worry about space again for years, I was so excited my computer will last me a few more years and it was such a cheap easy solution. I definitely recommend it, I had no problems at all.

This 500gb Hard drive saved a 2 year old laptop from the junk pile and provided a cheaper way for a college bound student to have access to a laptop than to buy a new one. I personally feel Western Digital makes one of the most dependable hard drives on the market. I have purchased more than 1000 hard drives in the course of my 20 years as an IT Professional and I would estimate at least half of them were Western Digital and I can remember about 8 or 9 times I had to return one within the first year because an issue caused by a straight up drive failure or manufacturer defect.

At the price, this Hard drive is a great choice for budget conscious consumers. It will help you revive an aging laptop with hard drive issues.

Overall a good drive for the price. The hight seem to be a bit thinner than previous older models, so it did take a little finagling to match up the sata connections inside the laptop. Other than that its pretty much plug it in, install your OS, and you're good to go.
