Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Blue 500GB Internal SSD SATA's performance, price, and ease of use, citing faster boot times and improved overall system responsiveness. Many appreciate the ample storage capacity for their files and the straightforward installation process. While some users experienced issues with the included software and warranty duration, the positive feedback on performance and value significantly outweighs these concerns. The drive is also praised for its quiet operation and reduced heat compared to traditional hard drives.

The Western Digital Blue 500 GB drive is a great addition or upgrade to your PC or laptop. I had mine installed in my PC in about 3 minutes. Once connected, Disk management had it initialized and formatted quickly. The response time on the SSD Drives is phenomenal. After installing and formatting the drive I downloaded and ran the UserBenchmark utility on the drive to test read write speed and was impressed to say the least. The overall score was “Outstanding”, and scored 115%. The read score was 502, Write 478 and mixed was 416 while transferring at 450 mb/s speeds. The 4K read scored 38.2, write 98.4 and mixed 49.4 at 62.2 mb /s. This is the drive you need to make your PC or laptop have lightning fast response times. The drive size is 2.5 inches so make sure before purchasing for a laptop that this will fit. This drive ships bare, there are no documents or cables included, should you need assistance, online quick videos would be a great place to start. This install/upgrade should only take you 10 minutes or less, depending on technical ability.

What was recommended didn’t work. I returned the seconded time and what was recommended did not fix the problem. I was told that tests had been run and the problem was resolved. After one use, the exact same problem exist.

Added New Life To An Older MacBook

As technology ages, things tend to slow down. Operating system updates, new applications, older equipment doesn't seem to function like it did when it was new. There are a few options. 1. Buy a new device - but that comes at a cost. You have to reinstall all your apps, copy your pictures, docs, videos over... 2. Add more memory. Most devices have a limit as to how much memory can be added. Either limitations on the number of slots available, DIMM sizes available or how much memory the BIOS can address. 3. If you have an older spindle drive - upgrading to a Solid State Drive. This is the 4th device I've upgraded and each time I'm just blown away by the performance improvement. Time to boot is significantly improved, app launch time is much faster. With the WD 500GB, you have plenty of room for storage. Earlier SSDs were much smaller so you didn't have as much room as you would with a typical spindle drive.

Western Digital as long been my go to brand for hard drives from the black series to the RE enterprise class drives, they have never failed on me so I'm glad to see they are finally getting into the SSD market. I hope their record for excellent service life continues on. This Blue series SSD came as a bare drive (no cables, adapters, mounts, screws) were included. Being a standard 2.5" size it was easy to install in my desktop system, I just used Velcro tape to attach it to free space. The rated speeds are 545 read/525 write and in my testing I exceeded these numbers with 562 read/534 write which was a pleasant surprise. The performance of the drive thus far has been good.

Wow! Just Wow! Goodbye to hard drives and hello to Solid State Drives. Everything that people said about this is true. I am very amazed by the performance of this SSD. It's very fast and very nice. I'm using it right now for my new PC. The uploads and downloads is fast too, and it's enough space for me to use Windows 10, and I was right.

    Good SSD for the price

My laptop has a 256GB SSD that's PCIe which is lightning fast but is really small. This is a 500GB SATA based SSD so read and write times will be slower but still considerably faster then HDD's will be. this 500GB is plenty for most people who aren't gamers and will easily have enough space to store photo's/videos and Windows on. The box says up to 545MB read and 525MB write speeds and I noticed it gets pretty close to it. For sure there is better products out there but if you just want a cheap SSD or have a laptop that doesn't support PCie SSD's because its old this is a great product.

Excellent Capacity and Performance for the Price

Pro -Above-average SSD speed -7mm Z-height for wide compatibility -Lots of capacity ( by SSD standards ) -Good price for the size -3-year warranty Con -Not PCIe-based -Less capacity than spindle drives Overall While you may run into a lot of so-called computer experts who want to tout on processors and graphics cards, upgrading to a solid-state drive is the best upgrade the average computer user can do to make their computer respond quicker and feel overall faster. CPUs and GPUs have their place of course, but unless you're running very demanding programs like big title games or professional content creation, you won't see a big difference in normal computer performance. A SSD can load data and feed instructions to your CPU faster, meaning it's more efficient with its time. A SSD will allow your computer to boot faster, load programs faster, apply updates faster, and shutdown faster. It just makes the machine feel quicker and more responsive. This WD drive uses reliable SanDisk flash in the drive and offers a large capacity for only $100. Even better, this is one of the faster SATA-based drives available. The drive is also 7mm thick, making it compatible with pretty much any 2.5" drive bay. The downsides, if there are any, is that this is only a SATA drive, which are much slower than PCIe drives. Still, even a slow SATA SSD is much, MUCH faster than even high-performance spindle drives. Also, while SSDs are getting larger in capacity, they still have less capacity and are much more expensive than regular spindle drives. While 500GB is enough for most people, those that want to store a lot of media, photos, video, music, etc on their local drive may find themselves running short. This is more an issue for laptops that only have single drives. For desktops, the preferred method is to use a fast SSD for the OS and key applications and then use a larger spindle drive to store documents and files. All in all, $100 for 500GB of flash storage is a great deal right now. It's even better when that drive is a stout performer. The WD Blue may not be quite as fast as premier products from Samsung, Crucial, or AData, but it's still plenty quick and you're unlikely to notice the difference in everyday use.
