Fast SSD

If you have a laptop with a HDD, do yourself a favor and upgrade to a SSD. You'll never go back. It's basically common knowledge at this point, but if you don't know, SSDs is the easiest and best thing you can do to speed up the performance of your computer. In most cases they are easy to install. In terms of describing the write/read speed (which is phenomenal in this bad boy) I think it's best to let you know what I used it the SSD for. I upgraded my 750 GB HD in my 2012 Macbook Pro to this WD Blue 500 GB SSD. I was willing to sacrifice some space for the speed. After mirroring the SSD from the HDD in my Macbook, I unscrewed the plate of the Macbook Pro, unhooked one cable, inserted some mounting pegs (that are originally attached to the Macbook HDD) and voila. The first boot up took a minute or so, but after that, it's like a brand new machine. I don't have Retina display, but man, the speeds in which the computer turns on and saving files and opening programs is fantastic. I'm not talking about small incremental improvements only noted by benchmark scores, I'm talking about the average person being able to notice a substantial increase in performance of the machine all around. It was the best thing I did to my Macbook and will extend its life and use for several more years.
While I can't speak to other brand of SSD's performance and whether it's comparable, I can say that if you need (and you'll definitely want to) to upgrade your old HDD this is a fantastic option and you can't go wrong. You will immediately notice the difference!

Snappy SSD, Perfect Upgrade from a HDD

SSD’s are one of the best upgrades you can make if you’re still running a slower SSD on your computer. Installing the operating system on this drive makes programs much more snappy and increases boot times significantly.
This WD SSD is no exception. Using the SATA interface, it’s highly compatible with most modern computers, and in 500GB capacity, would make for a great gaming, video editing, or movie drive.
I used this drive as an external backup drive for photos and videos to free up space from my main drive. The almost 100GB of family photos and videos only took a few minutes to back up and the external drive enclosure easily fits in my laptop bag and there when needed. The main upside to this is having a high speed drive, which unlike the cloud, works when you’re in airplane mode, or running on a slow or metered network.
Drive maintenance is very minimal, unlike defragging with HHDs, simply running the trim function, built into windows 10, will help keep the drive running at optimal performance. With WDs 3 year warranty on their SSDs, you’ll have piece of mind knowing it’ll last you at least that long with no worries, likely much longer. I have WD mechanical drives still chirping away nearly 10 years old.
I would recommend this drive for HHD replacement, high speed storage, console drive replacement, or fast external backups.

this being my first SSD drive I had no idea what to expect but I love what I got. I got a friend who was able to take out my hard disk drive and replace it with this new SSD drive and speed doesn't even begin to cover it. This thing loads fast downloads fast it's pure amazement. Do yourself a favor and get one fast.

Have a computer that you need to give some new life to? This may do the trick!
Although sold as a solid state drive (ssd) for laptops, it can be used in both laptops or desktops.
It has the form-factor of a laptop drive (2.5") - the only real requirements it has is a SATA drive connection (preferably SATA 3, but will work with SATA 2, just not as fast) and a SATA power connection. If you're replacing the old-fashioned hard drive in your laptop , you will most likely have both connections available.
Running a benchmark on my Lenovo Y700 resulted in the attached benchmarks, which is actually above the advertised speeds - VERY nice for the asking price!

Good SSD for intermediate system

The good ssd faster than traditional hard drive. Speeds up to 545 MB/s read, 525 MB/s write. Bought it on sale for $149.00 plus tax in stock at my local store. Very satisfied for the value size and speed of the drive. Cons it is not a M.2 NVMe drive. But the question you have to ask is on an intermediate system Ryzen 5 1400 cpu 16 GB's ram is my money beter spent on a larger SSD or a faster but smaller M.2 NVMe drive. In real world perfomance I decided to go with the 500 GB drive. It was also on sale and in stock when I had some money and time off. If you have a system that costs over $1500.00 then by all means go for the NVMe drives. If not a traditional SSD will serve you well.

I recently bought this 500 GB WD Blue SSD after my 1 TB Toshiba hard drive started responding a lot slower then normal when I received a major windows 10 update on my Dell Inspiron 3567 laptop. Since standard hard drives use spinning disk to write and rewrite data, the mechanical parts of the drive start to wear down over time causing the hard drive to eventually fail when it is trying to read the data stored on the drive. Solid State Drives however use several memory chips to store and move data around for faster loading and does not contain any moving parts. Because of the fact that there isn't any mechanical parts like a spinning disk, SSD's are extremely quiet and up to 10 times faster at loading data. this means that there is no more long waiting periods for windows to load or respond and no more loud grinding noises when it is trying to read a large amount of data.

This is the best product and the best buy representative helps me to make this decision and I am happy. I replace it with HDD and now my computer is super fast. Initially, I was thinking to buy a new laptop but when I replace HDD with this SSD, now there is no need to have a new laptop as my current one give me feel of new one.

I made a mistake getting this drive. My fault... I wanted to use it in addition to the drive that came with my laptop but unfortunately I didn't realize it didn't come with a bracket/screws and I don't want to pay an additional $20 for that. So though this may be a good drive, I can't say, because I'm not going to be able to use it.
