This is a great drive! I have been using for a year now and never had any issues. The performance when running games on it is great. I would recommend this to anyone needing some extra storage or looking to clone their OS.

Solid SSD. Nothing special, but if you're upgrading from a spinning disk drive, this will be incredibly faster. It's worth the upgrade, especially for the price. You could even just set this as the primary boot drive and keep a spinning disk drive as a secondary data drive.

I have a computer that is a little over four years old and my hard drive went out. I got this SSD and after I installed it I couldn't believe how much my computer sped up. I've not had any trouble out of it and my boot times are like a new computer.

Was able to clone over my HDD including Windows OS in a breeze with a simple YouTube video tutorial and free third party software. Big upgrade over regular HDD type hard drives. Boot time went from a few minutes to less than a minute after.

If you're using this to upgrade from a spinning HD, then you'll find your PC runs lightning fast. It's big enough to fit a few games, but you can always go with more storage if you need. Nothing really to say about an SSD, especially coming from WD. They have always been reliable.

This is the single most impactful/affordable performance upgrade you can make to a computer if you have an older style mechanical hard drive! I've installed on very old Windows 7 computers and they run like they are brand new now and very fast considering how old they are!

I bought this solid state drive to replace an old hard drive. Installation was pretty simple, and set up with the included software was very easy. The drive runs great, is super quiet and efficient and amazingly fast! I would highly recommend performing this upgrade to any system with an older IDE Drive.

I used this first as a back up to my C: drive before I reinstalled Windows and my programs on the old SSD drive. After a few weeks I cloned my mechanical data drive to it and it has enough storage and is much faster loading some of my larger data files.

Very nice SSD, I haven’t had any issues with it. May not be the fastest thing on the market but it definitely will improve your loading times if you’re coming from a normal hard drive. Easy and cheap way to expand storage for gaming!

This gave new life to an old Toshiba laptop that had a regular HD. Noticed an improvement in performance, and it fit nicely in the replacement location. As 1TB drives are only $20 more in some cases, it would be nice to start to see this price point go down for 500GB.

Great hard drive for the money it’s solid state what more can I say very fast the Samsung is going to be the better drive but it is also more expensive if you just need a good solid-state drive I think this would be one of the better ones that you can choose

Drive itself worked like a charm; made my desktop significantly faster, even with the SATA connection. Only qualm is the software that comes with the drive; no matter what i did I could not get it to recognize that I had a WD drive connected, so it would not activate. Had to track down a 3rd party software to clone the original drive. Since it came with the drive, I took off one star, but the drive itself has been great so far.

I've been using these to upgrade desktops and laptops with failing hard drives for about 2 years. Not one has failed yet. Great alternative to buying a new computer, as your machine will run faster than it ever was new.

Installed in my daughter's computer and the boot time and shutdown times alone were reduced by an order of magnitude. Speeds also increased for opening files and programs after booting.

Needed a small drive for old Win XP works great ! And its small enough to copy to another drive slightly bigger . XP has its limits ,but i use it for many projects here . The 500GB drive is fast and inexpensive ,i use it to drive my radio astronomy project .

As the price of SSDs drop, I'm switching to SSD almost exclusively. So far the western digital drives have been solid and reliable. The price is really good too. Oh... and the compatibility with certain servers has also been good too, something I can't say for other brands.

This drive is absolutely wonderful. It is a snap to install, and very easy to transfer your entire system to. This really has helped to revitalize in order computer. Things really run much faster and I very much recommended it.

As usual WD is a great brand to buy. It was super easy to install this and using a few extra accessories I had at home cloning the existing hard drive over to this was a breeze. Much better performance and speed than the stock SSD.

This product was to replace an outdated and obsolete hard disc drive in a laptop. The result was an incredible increase in responsiveness and performance! Great size and quality for the price, with no hassles. *Note: Not plug-and-play. Be sure to understand hardware and software requirements before purchasing.

Did just as advertised. Really improved the performance of my desktop computer which was probably on its last legs.
