8 months ago I bought and installed it. I was just using it yesterday. Today it is dead. As a doornail. All files on it are lost. Luckily I didn't lose anything because I expected this would happen. Western Digital was caught misleading customers on some of their products in 2021. They weren't caught doing it with this one but I'm not so naive as to not expect it from them. I did nothing demanding on the drive and kept nothing on it I didn't have backed up elsewhere. It was an unbelievable deal. I knew something had to be wrong with it. I was right.

I purchased the WD Blue SA510 to replace a bad hard drive. It's a Good SATA SSD drive.

Its not a fast SSD by any means but for mass storage and backup, it does the job.

I thought it was good at first especially for the price but I have not even had it a year and it already went out losing all of my data as it was on this drive which was my main very upsetting for this to have happened not satisfied even wasn’t used for a little while went to use it and found out the drive was no good

I purchased this SSD to be used a temp drive for a computer running surveillance camera software; heavy constant use. Formatted and configured it for the software and it worked great initially, but the next morning I was receiving errors that the HD wasn't available. Indeed in Windows Disk Management the drive said it was once again an unformatted drive. I reformatted and wrote a script to copy files to fill the disk, then empty. I was not able to successfully repeat this cycle more than two iterations before the disk would become unrecognizable again. I then repeated the test using a different computer and confirmed the result. I returned the drive and purchased one from a different manufacturer which has been going great for several weeks. Although I have always sworn by WD in the past, I would not trust this drive with any critical data. I'm sure I just got a dud, but it is pretty hard to get past a failure with a brand new drive.

working wonders so far...how long until it bogs down?

This was another Black Friday impulse purchase. This won't be a top contender on the speed charts but it's a decent choice where price/performance ratio is a high priority (and it still destroys even the fastest hard drives)
