Perfect hard drive it does take up a spot on the power strip tho. But it beats having to uninstall a different game every night

I bought this hard drive to finally condense all of the data I've amassed on multiple drives in to one unit. The read and write speeds were pretty decent especially for a spin drive. It's nice that it's rated at 7200 rpms, as more often you see 5400 rpm drives at similar price points that perform slower. The extra USB charging ports in the back are a nice touch as well, adding more functionality. It also doesn't come with any bloatware or files that try to get you to sign up for all sorts of things. Once you plug it in, it's just a blank drive ready for whatever you want to put on it. It does make some clicking noises when under heavy load, but honestly I was pretty surprised how quiet it was during general use. Many of the drives I was transferring data from made all sorts of noises, but the WD black was pretty tame. The only thing that made me sad was the case. In the pictures it looks like it could be made of metal, where it is actually plastic. This wasn't a dealbreaker for me as the build quality is still great, but may be a bit misleading for some.

Fantastic drive as extra storage for my PS5. I use it to store all of my PS4 games on and they load fast. I had used a slow 5400 rpm hard drive for a long time for console storage and a lot of games had problems loading in assets. But this hard drive being a separately powered 7200 rpm hard drive makes a world of difference and haven't had any problems with any games

For PS4 games the speed compares favorably to the internal SSD, I loaded a Witcher 3 save in Novigrad which took 1:06 versus :53 on internal which is roughly only a 20% difference meaning that it’s read speed isn’t that far off from whatever the limit they’ve put in place when playing PS4 games on PS5. Given that you can now archive PS5 games to external storage having a huge fast drive like this is a good investment.

The hard drive has worked for me in uploading my games from the PS5 drive to this drive. The main feature is its capacity which is 8 TB. The time it took to transfer the files was hardly less than 5 minutes. The total space all files combined occupied was around 600 GB.
