Got a great price on this during Black Friday. It's a fast drive with ample storage space. It makes loud clicking sounds. I've heard this is common with drives of this size. I find it annoying.

Pros: At the time of purchase this external 8TB drive what $40 cheaper than the same drive internal drive. It's fast, but not as fast as my Seagate Barracuda Pro 4TB external drive. Given it's twice the size for the same price it more than make up for the few seconds I have to wait to load games. Cons: It's a bit on the loud side and despite having the same cache size and RPM as my Seagate Barracuda Pro it's noticeably slower. My Seagate feels snappy, this drive to be honest feels like a fast 5400 RPM drive instead of 7200. However when you benchmark this drive it says 240 MBps read and 190 MBps write while my Seagate is 230 MBps read and write.

Fast and Works With Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.11.6

Transfers data fast the the default formatting works with both Windows 7 (work computer) and 2009 vintage Mac Pro running OS 10.11.6. This is a feature that I will need as I will likely be replacing the Mac Pro with a high end Windows box as the new Mac Pros are WAY too expensive. I have TB of photo, video, and document data to migrate. Well constructed. I have not had any issues to date, although my usage has been admittedly rather light to date. Powered by USB 3 w/o separate power cord/brick is a huge plus.

Super excited to have a huge external hard drive that can back up not only my files/pictures, etc. but also the entire laptop system. No more struggling with deciding which things I can back up. Now I back EVERYTHING! Had too many laptop failures/crashes. The struggle is real! Never again. It was easy to set up, reformat for Windows and back up. Very happy with the price point and large storage of 8TB. Since I am a very heavy user and have large amounts of data, this is very important to me. After eldercare for multiple family members since 2016, I had to manage everyone's finances, utilities, insurance, day to day expenses, subscriptions, cable, medical, taxes, on and on. I was buried in data and had to maintain that data for 7 years. Needless to say my drives were bulging. So glad to have found this huge drive.

Great unit to storage PS4 games on your ps5. Compact, quiet and overall a good product! Just remember if you need more storage on your PS5, for ps5 games, this harddrive wont help with storing those games! You will need a SSD. Overall good product!

This external hard drive offers reliable storage for digital files and works with both Windows and Mac systems. Transferring files is quick and easy, and its durable build ensures data safety. However, it requires an external power source and lacks bundled backup software. Overall, it's a practical solution for expanding storage, despite these drawbacks.

I have 2 of these. First off, I don't use these for a playstation externsl hd. I use one for my Shield Pro to store my digital movies as well as to store roms for my emulators. I use the other as a backup storage unit for my laptop. I absolutely love the size and speed of these! The 7200rpm makes a huge difference. Definitely pricey, but it works great. Will be buying another since my 8tb one is full now.

I bought a few of these to shuck and use inside a PC for gaming, due to them being 7200rpm drives. They are very fast, definitely worth the purchase. They run slightly hotter than I would prefer, even when not in use or idle, but still worth it due to their performance level. Again, these are running hot while shucked and inside my PC....temps inside the stock case with it's tiny fan were even worse.

feel like this drive offers a good cost to speed compromise. Regular external HD's are slower but slightly cheaper, solid state drives are faster but WAY more expensive for comparable space and have a caveat that they can only be written to so many times.

I purchased this external hard drive when the PS5 came out, since the small solid state drives makes it pretty much a requirement to have external storage. The unit reads and writes very quickly, is good looking, and is easy to set upland format. The downside is that it's loud, however for the amount of storage it provides, it's worth ignoring the background noise. I did purchase the unit on discount, and I think its retail value is too steep for what it does. With that said, anything above a 10% discount makes this a worthwhile investment to your PS4 game saves to and leave more onboard storage for your newer PS5 games that can’t be transferred to external.

This drive surprised me with it's speed, being a USB external drive. The size is big enough to store all my installed 580 games on Steam with tons of room to spare. Just over half full with all of them. Bought it after a price drop ($179.00), and well worth the price. It's also compatible with Xbox One, and thinking of getting a second drive just for that machine. Can't comment on the drives longevity as I've only had it a couple weeks at this point. If any problems occur, I will edit this review, but so far, so good!

I would give this 5 stars, but I can't find a Windows property to prevent this drive from falling asleep after several minutes of being idle. This is important to me, because I am using it as my main drive for my Plex Server. When it is spinning, the performance is great and the streaming of my blu-rays is fantastic. I have to believe it would be great for X-Box gaming as well, which is its primary purpose. The noise and pulse of the drive is noticeable in a quiet room, but where I keep it, it isn't a problem.

This is one of the best drive I have gotten in years, with 8 TB and a 7200RPM drive along with active cooling, it is fast and efficient. I have it partitioned with 4TB for Mac Time Machine backup and the other 4TB is for the Windows 10 backup on Bootcamp. Being the same price as a standard 8TB with only 5200RPM and no active cooling this is a better buy for the money!
