I use this external drive for my ps5 and it’s awesome. Even tho I can only store my ps5 on this drive and not play them yet until Sony unlocks it, it’s still a great drive for your ps5 and I will be buying another one for my ps4. Tons of space and it’s fast. Western digital did great with this one because the speeds are fast in load time.

great bang for the buck drive if you catch it on sale. The non WD_Black line is cheaper but you get a nice stand here with better cooling fans. I don't hear noise that often as some others have complained, the only loud part is the boot-up. Getting about 240MB/s transfer speed from internal drive to external drive on old gen 6 intel setup using 3.0 USB ports.

I bought this item to expand the hard drive on mine recently acquired Xbox series X. And it is working like a champ and I am stoked to have the extra eight gigs of storage. The speed is great for transferring the files back-and-forth between my console and this storage device. And playing the older games straight off the device is a nice perk too!

Super fast transfer speed. I’ve had it for several months now with zero issues. Also, it is a relatively small so it does not take up too much space next to my Ps5

I'm using it on a Tablo to record over air TV. So far it's recording and playing back video like a Pro. Honestly I didn't realize just how large 8T is, I think it will record a lifetime of movies at the present rate.

really great ssd and it runs pretty quiet I don't see where people say its loud I think they just set it up wrong somehow great storage have most of my games here like cold war, halo infinite and the master chief collection and keep most of my emulations on here as well great external hard drive.

WD hard drive 8GB, its a great addition to my Blue Iris system. I am able to store over a month worth of footage for 9 cameras,vits fast and reliable.

Best purchases made. I have the 2 tb wd black in the ps5 and I ran out of space and this made the big difference. Get one it’s worth it.

Great HDD, speed is great and it looks stealthy, but it’s loud and obnoxious. I use it as a storage back up. Only plug it up when I need it. Immediate unplug when done.

replaced 4tb wd external drive with this one for both ps4 and xbox. I didn't want to at first because the 4th drives don't require a separate power cable and things were nice and tidy, but I ran out of space on both with games. I purchased a 5tb wd black external first, but that was still not enough space. This was my final option and I am content. Don't like having a separate power cord for it, but it seems 5 tb is the highest for the usb powered ones so this has to do. Its 7.35tb as one would expect and it can hold plenty of games. over 119 ps4 games on it now, BUT I see a 12 tb wd black drive and I think i need that one. I have 90% of all my digital games for ps4 loaded and I am almost out of space again. I dont like to delete and download games over again, rather just have them all on the drive to play at any time. Good drive, not loud.

Got for some portable extra storage but for some reason the transfer rates are a little on the slower than advertised side. Moving files from an m.2 drive to this via USB 3.2 was hitting around 85-100mb/s and said transfer speeds upwards of 250mb/s. That was the only reason for the subtracted star. Other than that, a solid storage solution. Would buy again.

Choose your 2 favorites: Tons of storage / inexpensive / data transfer speed - this is hard to pick if money is something you don’t spend compulsively. Finding storage that is as fast as possible, and much as possible, for the price that fits your comfort budget. This external drive is it. So much storage that I don’t have to delete an old game that I never found time to play. I would delete this game for room for games to play with friends, and never look at the game again. Not anymore lol. 8TB will last a while I hope. I use with on a PC (obviously there isn’t any else to game on (jokes, jokes, jokes)). Buying a 4TB SSD was just too expensive for me. So I settled on this and it’s quite satisfying. Also know that WD_BLACK has external SSD’s that have data transfer rates at about 2000MB/s if more speed is needed.
