The WD - D30 1TB USB Type-C has done very well for our Xbox.

birthday gift for my grandson. needs it for his playstation.

Works great. I saved alot of money getting this instead of a new gaming system.

Great option for ps4 games so you can save console space for ps5 games.

love how small and compact this is. we are using it with a ps5. downside is that you can not play ps5 games with it. it says that so that is not an issue but just wanting to remind this. what you can do though, is download ps4 games onto it and play those. so if you do play ps4 games on a ps5 or ps4, you can download them onto this SSD and play them and not use up your hard drive inside the console. you can also download ps5 games onto it. just cant play them. this benefit is if you have games that you are always deleting, reinstalling to make room, this goes a lot faster then having to redownload from the internet. this is great especially if you have games that do not require internet to play. and if your internet is down, or you go someplace and internet is slow or not working you can then transfer those games and play. and like I said, even if you have internet, transferring from the SSD from the console to this SSD and back is faster. I love how small it is. it comes with a little stand as well. overall nice to have for consoles as well as a pc.

Not fast enough write time to store Xbox X/S games. But great for games that run on a slower speed

I’ve used this drive to add storage to a PlayStation 4. It works great. Speeds are more than adequate and to me there seems to be no difference in running a game off of this drive or internal storage. The design is very industrial and the stand keeps it in place. The included usb type c cable is a little short, but it is nice that it is included. This is a great way to add a lot of fast storage to a game console or PC.

In the box is the SSD drive, USB-B to USB-C cord, a stand and an instruction manual. Right out of the box, I am impressed with the design and look of the SSD drive. I like that it looks like an industrial storage container and it is small enough that is easy to travel with. It literally fits in the palm of my hand. Functionality - In my instance, I am using with a PlayStation 4, so I had to format it first before using but it only took less than one minute. Once that was done, it was usable. I was able to transfer over 300gb (2 games) of data within two minutes. I was also able to play the games from the storage with no latency and the games actually loaded faster from the SSD drive. Overall I would have like to see the SSD drive be able to attach it to my PlayStation console but I do use the stand which is sufficient. This is definitely a 4.5 rating and I do see myself purchasing another one in the near future and I will definitely recommend to friends and family.

I finally had a chance to install this drive recently after getting it a few weeks ago. The installation was very easy and as explained for my Xbox-X and easy to use. I hope to use it to keep my xbox storage available for new games moving the older & less used to the drive. It's fast and easy to use with the Xbox. I have only started to load items to it so I am not sure how well it will perform as it is filled up but do not expect any issues.(or it to fill very quickly for my use) It doesn't take up much space. As stated it works for Xbox & Playstation, but I have not tested for Playstation-only Xbox. it uses the newer type C USB and a type C to type A cable is included with the drive and manual in the box

The Western Digital D30 is a really nice SSD drive. It has an industrial type look. Even though it has a metal type appearance, it’s actually made of plastic. The stand is removable, so you can use it with or without the included stand. I connected it with no problem to an Xbox and PlayStation. I was also connect it to my MacBook Pro. It’s plenty fast. It’s much faster than other external drives I have. With support of gaming, I hope to get years of great speed and service from this device.

Does not save ps5 games. Will save all ur pa4 games.

This is a fast SSD and easy way to add space to your new Series X Xbox. This drive is compatible with other Xbox models but my review focuses on the Series X. In the box you get the drive, a plastic clip to hold the drive in and a usb A to usb C cable. Plugging in the drive to the xbox you are prompted to format it and off you go. I found the load and transfer speeds blazing fast. Note you will only want to store older gen games on this and leave anything series x upgraded on the actual Xbox drive. Moving games back and forth between the drives was very quick. I was pleasantly surprised how easy this was use. Highly recommend, it's worth noting this particular model is compatible with either Xbox, PC, or PS5.

If you need more hard drive space for the ps5 and something that is affordable than look no further. Games work its fast. Definitely easy to install and use

Works fine, but at first, I had an issue with setting up for the PS5. It wouldn’t work with the drive unless it’s connected with the front USB-C, but after some more attempts, it finally worked with the other USB ports and has been working fine since. No issue playing games directly from the drive. One note, PS5 games can’t be played directly from the drive. You’ll still need to transfer it back to the internal storage.

One of the big issues facing the next-gen gaming consoles is storage capacity. Even with the 1TB PS5, these new games can eat up memory quickly. If you are looking for a way to free up some necessary disc space, the WD Black D30 1TB Game Drive may be what you are looking for. For the purposes of this review, I used this device on the PlayStation 5 console. The documentation provided indicates it works with the Xbox next-gen series, but I did not try this on that device. The device can also be used with a PC, but once I formatted it to be used with the PS5, I stayed with that hardware. The WD Black D30 is a Solid-State Drive, so it is smaller than some other drives. It is about 2.5 inches by 2 inches and looks stylish and hi-tech. It comes with a small stand which it snaps into and a short USB cable to plug into the system. The directions that come with the drive are a bit incorrect. The directions tell you to plug the drive into the front of the PS5. This is not right. You will need to plug the device into one of the rear USB ports. You then need to go into the PS5 settings and select STORAGE. From there, you select the External Storage and format the drive. When I went to format the drive, I got an error message that prevented me from completing this. If this happens, unplug the USB, plug it back in, and retry the format. This worked for me. PS5s can be a little tricky. You can store PS5 games on the D30 drive; however, you will not be able to play the game from there. In case you don’t know, there is no way to play a PS5 specific game from an external drive. Though you can play PS4 games directly from the external drive. Therefore, I transferred all my PS4 games to the external drive and left the PS5 games on the internal storage. The transfer is easy. Just select the games to move to the external drive and hit go. Being a SSD, this thing is fast too. I transferred roughly 100 GB in a little over 5 minutes. If you want to store a PS5 game on the external drive, you can do that. This can be good if you know you will play a game in the future but want to free up space in the meantime. The reason to do this is it will be much faster to transfer the game back to the PS5 than it will to download it again. If you go this route, you will have some choreography to go through. For example, you may need to move 100GB from the PS5 to the D30 before transferring the other game from the D30 to the PS5. IT just means you lose out on having this space to use for storing games. In any case, the drive works extremely well. You can store PS4 games on the PS5 system, remove the external drive, plug into the PS4 and you play games immediately. It is a nice feature to be able to jump between systems and not have to load games on each. In the end, I really like the WD Black D30 SSD gaming drive. It frees up necessary space on my PS5 and runs externally stored PS4 games perfectly. You don’t even notice that PS4 games are stored on the other drive. If you need to free up space on the PS5, I recommend this drive for your needs.
