I like to document work from my tree care business and also from all my other activities I enjoy. The WD Easystore 14TB external drive gives me massive storage and it is so easy to use. I have a couple others I have already filled over the past 10+ years. It's a great option if you want a lot of video/photo/document storage that is easy to access. Of course being able to get one on a really good sale makes it even better.
I highly recommend the WD Easystore drives!

This should be a no brainer, at $309 its a little high if your building a home media server as newer movies and TV Shows take up more and more space so multiple drives are recommended.
At $259 this starts to sound pretty good, just think about it, for just a nudge over a grand you can have 4 drives totaling 50.8 TB (that's formatted, because lets face it, if you don't know that you are not going to get a full 14 TB from a 14 TB drive then you need to do some reading up on hard drives and formatting, but still, that's an awful lot of storage and for $2,000 you can have 8 of these and either break 100 TB of storage OR do what i do and have every other drive sync'd so that you have a duplicate of all your information, thus if a drive fails, which they inevitably do, you will still have a backup.
Now if you were forward thinking enough, and were able to get these on the 2020 Black Friday sale when tese 14TB easystores where $189.99 then your a smart shopper with a lot of storage.
Warranty is easy, WD includes a link to its software which can quickly run a test on any or all of your WD drives and report back if the drive is healthy, has some issues, or is in immanent failure position, which makes RMA's fairly quick and easy so if you need storage, and who doesn't, then these are great, affordable drives with everything you need to add more storage to your Desktop, Laptop, NAS, Home Media Server and even many new TV's can play your content right off the drive as most, like my LG C865OLED UHD 4k TV have Alpha 9 or Aplha 9II processors and USB ports right on the TV making everything extremely easy, because you need to remember, most "Smart" TV's are basically TV's with a computer inside.
As for these, its a win-win at almost any price point, also keep in mind that these are NOT the dreaded SMP drives so that is comforting and being USB 3.0 they are fairly quick and easy to use.
One last tip, when transporting to a friends house or even from one room to another, I highly recommend unplugging the USB cable from the back of the drive and putting the drive in a carry case or laptop bag as most defects are caused by drops, even when the drive in powered off, and when those drops occur, if you left that thin USB cable plugged in, there is a good chance it will break the internal connector causing physical damage which is not covered under warranty, so treat your drives with care when moving them, and keep them in a well ventilated spot when they are in use.
I give these an excellant score on just about everything but i must knock quality down a notch to just "Good" as the type of USB connector that plugs into the back of the drives is very sensitive, i would have preferred one of the sturdier USB 3.0 connectors or perhaps even a USB-C connector, however that comes with its own problems as USB-C is fairly new and not on most desktops, laptops, TV's or Blu Ray players that are older then 2 years, and even many brand new players running $500+ dont have USB-C so just use caution when moving the drives, but with that said, this is typical of almost all brands, not just WD, and your going to pay a lot more for a USB-C based drive and with that out of the way, i say these are my tech tips on the WD easystore 14TB External, Enjoy.

These work and have been very reliable for my large storage capacity needs. They are also a more budget friendly option than their internal counterparts.

Have had this drive for over a year now, and it has knocked it out of the park. I have been unable to scratch the storage amount, and speeds are good.

Extremely large drive for holding lots and lots of media. Currently hooked up to wireless router so any TV in house can have access to the library. Have had no issues with. Bonus that it was on deep discount and got it for a very reasonable price point for such a large drive. Does take auxiliary power to use so it will be on at all times with no internal sleep function that I know of. Initially was constantly spinning and making hard drive noise however found router function which puts it to sleep when not in use so problem solved. Would highly recommend.

I'm just using this for doing backups of my main NAS every 3 months for offline storage. My NAS got hacked and encrypted last year and fortunately I had another backup but having dodged the bullet I wanted another backup stored offline just in case they got past my other backups and security. I've used several 8TB units as NAS drives by shucking them. I've got a few that have been running several years full-time although mostly for media and home so the duty cycle isn't that oppressive.

These days you really need loads of memories and its is getting more expensive with many brands, so i am thankful to WD for making its good product still affordable (not cheap), and bec so many corporations disallow installation of one-touch sync softwares due to security, this affordable EXT HDD totally works for me to keep my work safe just in case.

This is a really good value for storage. 14TB is more than I could fill in a couple years, but it's good to have the storage.
The physical product is great, but the software included as well as the updated and recommended versions of the backup software are horrible. They are incredibly slow and bring my very high end PC to a crawl (R9 5900x, 64GB RAM, RTX 3080 and the OS on an NVME SSD). I ended up using an open source backup software that works much better than anything Western Digital provides.
I have one other major issue with this product, which may be down to Windows 10 itself, but also the slow 5400rpm drive used inside this device. My bootup time is multiplied when having this drive connected. My PC typically boots in under 30 seconds, startup programs all launched and ready to use with no lag. When the drive is connected, my PC can take up to 5 mins to boot. No program is launchable, nothing is interactable and my wallpaper doesn't even fully load for those 5 mins. This may be because Windows has to scan and load the whole 14TB available before the PC is useable, but also because this drive isn't very quick. I have to keep this drive unplugged, until I have some file ready to move over or a backup scheduled, so my PC will boot in a reasonable amount of time.
I definitely recommend this drive for storing large, or a lot of, files that only need to occasionally be stored or backed up. The amount of storage you get for the money is great.
This drive isn't such a great option for constant access to files. It takes such a heavy toll on your PC every time you boot up. For more constant access, maybe the wifi/NAS version would be better as that is treated as a network drive and wont slow your PCs boot time, but requires a little more initial setup.

This drive has excellent read/write speeds and tons of capacity. It's also easily shucked if you're familiar with how these cases go together. The only downside is that this particular kind of drive is a helium drive, so it has to wave the heads around when idle, meaning it will made "disk access noises" when not in use and not yet asleep. It can get a little annoying if it's close to you or on top of a surface that amplifies the otherwise quiet thunking.

FOURTEEN tb.! Plug and play. Free backup software with reverse incremental saves. Quiet, nice case, cords were quality and long enough. This is my third WD easystore, I'll be buying more I'm sure.
Highly recommend you get one and backup daily and never worry about being ransomed again. No more backing off older data onto DVDs, you can store so much on these, you may not need another drive for a while. I've never had an error or a faiure with WD easystore. Nice support team too. Highly recommended!

Drive Size Does Matter

When it comes to back up drives, or external drives in general, larger is better. This 14TB Western Digital EasyStore definitely fits that description. It made it to my desktop with its USB connection without prodding. I was also able to copy my 18,000 photos to it without any hitch. The only comment that I would make is that it makes a faint "knocking sound" when not writing data. Is it a concern? Don't know. I have had it now for 21 days, and other than the sounds, it has worked well. I may check with the Geek Squad just to be sure and report back.

Pros:
1. There is tremendous amount of space on this drive
2. The transfer speed is amazing. Around 200MB/s which can even rival some earlier low end sata ssd with speed.
3. It's very much possible to play games from it with a very nice reduction to the loading time.
4. Very portable
Cons:
1. power supply needed, so cannot be used without an outlet nearby. problem can be resolved with a usb c to 12v barrel connector (5.5x2.5mm) and a powerbank
2. makes some noise, but that is actually good thing, as it implies that this is helium filled enterprise hard drive.
overall this is wonderful value, compared to those so called gaming hard drives, because it provides the same performance with a fraction of their price.

Huge storage! Got an amazing price on this during Black Friday. Also, at the time Western Digital was offering an additional discount when you recycled an old drive. My only complaint is it makes loud clicking noises. I thought it was defective at first and exchanged it. The new drive does the same thing. After some research, I found it is normal for drives with large storage capacities like this one.

Purchased two of these drives during the Black Friday sale for $190 each which comes out to $13.57 per TB. Prior to this, the cheapest I had seen any Western Digital external HDD was $15 per TB (an 8 TB drive for $120), so the value prospect was already there. Thus far, this drive reaches 155 MB/s when transferring large files (> 5 GB) with about 90% of all transfers in the 110 to 160 MB/s range from either an internal SATAIII HDD. If you're in the market for a high capacity, reliable hard drive, this is a prime candidate.

Nice USB 3.0 external storage. Easystore is a Best Buy exclusive. Manufactured by Western digital. This model is 14TB, a LOT of storage. The USB 3.0 provides decent speed, a LOT faster than USB 2.0. Decent warranty. The drive inside in the one I purchased is a Western Digital Enterprise type drive (white label WD red.) so a high quality drive. And it is CMR not SMR which is important for many applications. Great deal, especially at the price I paid ;)
