As a hard drive itself, it presents itself as very reliable. However, if I had one problem with it, it would be that it goes to sleep too quickly, and comes out of sleep too slow. This is in comparison to other hard drives that I've had in the past. Other hard drives I've used 10 to start up from sleep in about 5 to 10 seconds, whereas this one is somewhere between 15 and 30, although, at 14 terabytes, I might expect to trade some access speed for reliability. As such, it's only a minor inconvenience. I tried connecting it to my Netgear router via the USB 3.0, and it crashed my internet connection on my phone and PC; my smart TVs remained up for some reason but I couldn't get the drive to reliably connect to either of them. But while connected to the computer itself, there is no interruption of service until it goes to sleep. Overall, very good for the price.

I've been running 4x of these for about a year at this point, 24/7, without issues. They operate as server storage and the only thing I've done is add some small fans above the drives to move air into the drives better. Easily worth the money.

Got this at a steal for $199. Had been hoping it would drop to tht price. Been using it for a couple of weeks and so far so good. It is. Little loud sometimes and it vibrates and shakes my desk. Not all the time but periodically.

Works great. Excellent capacity. Fast transfers with USB-3. Quiet. Compact. Replaced a bunch of old 200-500 GB drives I was keeping around. I also had some old PATA drives so I used an adapter and transferred all my stuff and got rid of them. Got it on sale on Black Friday.

This hard drive was on sale and a good value. I had to reformat it for use with my MacBook Pro, but now it is plug and play when I use it. I use this for photo storage so the extra storage space is welcome.

Best Buy WD Easystore External HDD - The Best Buy

Best Buy had a terrific discount sale on this Western Digital (WD) 14 TB external hard drive over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The Easystore brand name is exclusive to Best Buy. They are nearly identical to the WD Elements brand name external HDD, but Best Buy typically sells their Easystore at significant discounts during various online sales events. I use drives of this size for three purposes: regular background system backups, online additional storage for rarely accessed archived folders, and for offsite storage as opposed to cloud storage. I have been a big fan of WD storage, both internal and external for more than 20 years, and do not recall ever having a WD drive failure.

Personally I don't buy HDD larger than 8TB just because I fear that the more storage I get the more unreliable it can be, however not only has it been reliable but the speed is quicker than I had imagined. Normally with 8TB, I achieve 150-180mbs of write speed. I had expectations of it being the same, but once I had copied into a 14TB I easily achieved over 200mbs. I love these Hard drives and have always bought them since 2020, none have failed on me and i have over 20.

Excellent 14TB Hard Drive. You can shuck these and put them inside a desktop/server. If you plan on running them inside their enclosure you should get a fan to circulate air, otherwise they will run way too hot right around 50C while under use.

Tons of storage at a good price. This is slower than most Hard Drives and is a little noisy when accessed. This is perfect for storage and for backup. Not recommended for running software programs that need a fast response like gaming. Good for everything else.

Excellent price to capacity ratio (purchased as Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal. Hoping this will last a few years, my now-full 5TB WD drive has been going for 6 years or so without an issue, so I've got faith in the WD brand.

Got this on sale during the 2020 holiday to replace two of my old hard drives and move all my backed up pictures and videos. I've always had a good experience with the WD easystore models (old one is going on 6+ years) and will continue to use them moving forward.

I have been using this drive every single day for just under 2 years to store all of my backups for all of my computers (which is a lot). It is nearly full now and I will probably be replacing it soon with another easystore in higher capacity. It has never let me down. The CMR drive inside is much more consistent in write speeds than the old SMR seagate I had before it. WD drive utility lets you turn off the status light if you want to. All things considered a pretty quiet drive as well.

Holy cow, what a deal this was. I have a NAS where I store all my personal media, photos, work files and backups for me and my family members as a safety net in addition to cloud backup. I was looking for a good deal on larger drives and when these went on sale I couldn't pass it up. It's way more storage than I need, but also means I don't have to expand for a long time. For those of you unaware, these contain White Label Western Digital Red drives in them which are perfect for NAS devices.

These Easystore drives are the cheapest way to populate your NAS or media server. They contain standard SATA drives made by HGST that are almost half the cost of the same drive when you buy it as a bare drive. For removal instructions, look up "shucking."

This is a replacement for the 10tb Easystore that I was using with the NVidia Shield TV, that one filled up very quickly with digital copies of my blu ray movies, so I looked for a larger capacity drive, this was the biggest external storage that Best Buy had at the time I went to the store, I was glad I got it, right now I have about 3tb left and so far it is doing what its supposed to do, and again it is easily recognized by NVidia Shield, hopefully it does not fill up too quickly. I like that it is very quiet and does not really get hot, I had not had a drive failed on me yet…knock on wood.. so we shall see, otherwise I would recommend it with confidence…

I was lucky enough to pick up this drive while on sale. Lots of storage space for your files and excellent build quality. I'm using this as a back up drive for my video files and it has worked flawlessly since purchase.
