I wanted to wipe the old laptop clean before passing it along to my niece. I transferred all the files from my old laptop to the drive for safe keeping. Later I transferred only the items that I wanted from this hard drive to my new laptop. Was very easy to use and the 2TB pretty much guarantees that I will never run out of space.

Instead you get an arbitration agreement in a dozen different languages. But it also gives you a link a support page and instructions on how to format the drive for Mac, PC and for both Mac and PC. I did it for both and both computers the Mac and the PC can read and write from the drive. I am filling it up with stuff and it seems to work well. I am pleased with it.

I did not have any backup for it. The IT firm was able to save some of the data from it, but by no means all of it. The tech strongly urged me to get a backup device for my new computer. I found this unit on sale. It was easy to install and was up and running in minutes. Now I have a new back up once an hour, 24/7.

Great Drive at a better price

The WD - easystore® 2TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive, exclusive to Best Buy, is essentially the same drive without WD encryption and backup software. Seeing I don't need/use that extra software, I saved some bucks on this plainer drive. Works just as good as the MyPassport. Bonus is that it matches my older MyPassports in shape and size ... not the funky new squared off design.

Great game storage

Am able to download and play Steam games on it which saves space on my computer! I've bought one for each of my computers because switching one back and forth to move files caused it to become corrupted (I think because one computer is Windows 8 and the other is Windows 10) but there was an easy fix on Youtube to recover the files so it's all good.

We purchased an external hard drive for our computer. The experience took less than 20 minutes. We explained to the salesman what features we were looking for and he showed us several makes and models. He did not try to pressure us into one of the models. The price was reasonable and the service was amazing. I Recommend buying your next Computer or Storage hardware from Best Buy.
