After recovering data from external hard drive, the data was restored to new backup. Was advised that you need a backup to the backup, which is this 5 TB drive. It has been working like a champ.

Very pleased with the WD-Easystore 5TB External hard drive. I purchased it at a great price and it's very easy to use and store. Highly recommend to anyone needing to back up their computer content with plenty of room to spare.

Works great as external drive for PS5. Plays PS4 games and stores PS5 games. Large storage capacity (I bought the 5TB version). I bought this on sale and it was the best price for a 5TB drive anywhere. Thanks Best Buy

This external hard drive is a great resource and 5 TB is a lot of storage that can be used for all of your files, photos, videos, and memories on your computer. I bought it on sale, so I got the device for a fair price and it has some directions that go with it. The main reason I gave this product a 3 was because of the challenges I had to go through to be able to get this product to be compatible with my MacBook Pro. The product labels that it is equally compatible with OS X and Windows, but the device would only allow me to back up my entire Mac through Time Machine and not select specific photo and video files. Photography was the reason for my purchase of this device. I am fairly tech savvy, so with a bit of research I was able to get the device into the format I desired, however someone that isn’t really knowledgeable with this terminology would have trouble using this on Mac. In order to get the device to work on my Mac the way I needed, I had to partition the external hard drive through my Mac and rewrite it with APFS file format to be compatible with the files on my Mac. There are tons of other options you can select, but APFS works best for me. Luckily with a bit of research through Google, I learned how to do this through programs built in my computer, but I could just imagine 75% of other Mac users not being able to figure that out. This was the only device of WD that I could find that was supposedly compatible with Mac, but being only able to use this device to back up my entire computer is very limited. If you are a Mac user, beware that this device only lets you back up your device through TimeMachine unless you modify the format of the device to do otherwise. It is a good device in all, but just know the challenges that are entailed if you intend to use this device for other purposes. Also another thing to note is the attachment to connect to your computer is through a USB-A connection. So in order to connect it to a newer computer, you will need an adapter to connect USB-A to USB-C.

Fast and easy!! Needed a new drive as my old 3 tb was slowing down, heating up and showing errors. This one is fast as can be and was a cinch to set up. It was HARD not to go go the 12 tb but this 5 tb for the money is amazing.

The external hard drive is easy to use. Plugs in with no trouble. The capacity of the hard drive allows me to record movies and full games. Easy to transfer to other media sources.

This is my third Easystore drive. I have never had an issue with them! I will continue to choose these when I need to upgrade!

So far this storage device has performed perfectly. Fingers crossed that it continues this way for a few years at least. The size with 5TB capacity is very impressive. I haven't noticed any hiccups or errors. It is very fast and doesn't produce any heat.

Compact footprint and large capacity with good performance

Great sale price! Works perfectly with the Xbox Series X for storing and playing previous generation games. Connected and within seconds the console did it's thing with formatting and it's now half full of games. Great for Game Pass and Games with Gold collection.

I love it, it is exactly what I was looking for. I use it for extra memory in my Xbox and I have a tons of games installed on it due to the high capacity of 5TB im extremely happy with my purchase, specially because I bought it super cheap.

I have been using these WD external drives for several years now for both off-computer storage, and periodic archive of nearly 300,000 photos and a bunch of archive documents I wouldn't want to lose if my computer suddenly fails. So far, these drives have not failed me and allowed me to recover from archives after several years hiding on my dusty cabinet shelves behind other things I have squirrelled away. I have had poor experiences with other manufacturers, but so far so good with this product. I should warn buyers that when using it as primary storage, it may take a bit longer to open files than when those files are stored on the main computer. Got to be patient.

Easy to format on my M1 iMac, very useful as I own 3 hard drives from WD that I use mainly to store my edited videos and photos. Very useful for backing up Macs too!

Nicely build, easy to connect and configure, fast speed. Also size is good, you can take it with you in a pocket.

Nearly prefect size - both in terms of disk space and the drive's phyiscal size. Used for local backup of all the photos/videos. Still recommended storing a copies of those valuable files on one of the cloud provider though.

This hard drive has worked great so far. Easy to use - just plug it in, wait for it to be detected and you are off. I'm using this as a backup drive for all of the internal drives in my tower pc. I'm considering purchasing another to use as off-site storage.

I've had this external harddrive for a while now, and it has served me wonderfully. That being said, I don't use it frequently, but when I do, it is very easy. First, I do use icloud to backup my immediate computer items. I also backup my laptop info on to this easystore about once a month. I've lost all of my info before, so maybe I'm a little overboard. That aside, this device is very easy and intuitive to use. I plug it in, and I am immediately prompted to do the time machine backup, which is great.

I’ve used these since the beginning of my photography career about 4 years ago and have never had anything go wrong. Great hard drives for the price!

This WD Easystore 5 TB external portable hard drive works great. I carry it with me all the time and it is a great way to store all the stuff you use daily. Very easy to use and is small and light weight.
