This hard drive is small but powerful. It holds way more data than my old one, which was the size of a paperback.

Five TB for under a hundred bucks?! The storage capacity was great, even though 1 TB for backup goes a long way. What I was looking at was the 3.0 USB speed. The external drive that I'd been using was 2.0 and it just took too long to transfer data. This has been a nice improvement. I also suspect that it's a good idea to replace old hard drives after a number of years BEFORE they fail. And this one really is "plug and play".

Huge capacity is perfect for heavy photo and video storage. The auto-backup software, however, failed to download and install. We weren't depending on that, but it's disappointing.

I got the WD Easystore 5TB portable HD to backup my PC. As a screenwriter, I need to have access to all my work. A computer crash could wipe my hard drive. I plugged in the WD drive and it was immediately recognized. I set the automatic back for the time I wanted and the data I needed backed up. It works great. I also recently had to back up my entire PC because I was upgrading the memory and hard drive. The 5TB was more than enough space to accomplish this. And I was glad that I did because things didn't go well with copying to the new drive and the only way I got it to work was by doing a restore from the Easystore drive. It really saved me several more hours of frustration. I highly recommend this drive.
