Great option to Travel with to expand disk space
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The size of this drive is perfect for travelling. I loaded it up with all the trips I have taken for the last 10 years to have it with me when we do travel to expand my data on my small laptop and also bring up pictures of past trips for the last 10 years when someone asks 'What was your Ultimate Africa trip like'. I have a ton of pictures of all the camps and animals we saw and all the things we did. It also includes movies my wife takes. Still have lots of room on the drive 2+TB's to work with for another 6-8 years worth of pictures. This services as my backup to the sd cards that go through my camera and also pictures from my phone that I take every night while on a trip. Really like the size and the price for this great device.

Easystore 5TB USB drive works great.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received it and plugged it in, did not use any of the stuff that comes with it. Just did a quick format, checked the capacity and proceeded to load 1 terabyte of data on it with no issues. Seems to be a solid drive. Would definitely buy another in the future.

Western Digital 5tb portable drive
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very small and portable. It has approximately 4.87 tb, well within reason. It’s fast, it’s easy to carry though I highly recommend getting a carrying case. Cord length is enough to place it near your pc or game cousel, yes it’s usable in an xbox x or a ps4/5. Writing sped depends on your system, mine its very quick, if you need it longer, get a longer cable. It doesn’t come with is own power supply, it uses a usb 3.0 slot, its compatible with Windows 10/11 and MAC current versions, I didn’t have to reformat for my MacBook, it runs excellent. I would recommend.

How is this thing's price so low? It's a mystery!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a bigger hard drive for backups since my 2 TB one was almost full and I wanted to have more space for future data items. I have another external HD with a full size 3.5 drive inside that requires an external power supply, but I wanted something I could store and then pull out and use easily. I was shocked that on sale the Easystore 5TB costs under $100 even though it's small (2.5 drive internal) and USB-powered. The speed is fine; about what I'm used to for USB 3.0 physical magnetic drives. Maybe you can find cheaper drives with less storage, but per TB you really can't find a better deal than this as of 2021. It's been several months since I bought it, and so far I haven't had any problems. I use it for backups though, not daily use.

Best and Most Relieable Storage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would be lost without these handy, easy to store 5TB External USB drives. I keep a copy of all data as well as System backups on these. When I make changes to my computer hardware -- I NEVER lose anything. Also, when moving large amounts of data (such as videos, pictures, audo files, including Corel Paintier files from one computer to the other --so I have two identical working computers --- these are much faster and reliable than anything else I've found.

A YES! from a very clumsy person
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the past 5+ years, WD Easystore has developed into a brand I trust, and in particular, their portable external USB 3.0 drives. <3 I do seem to have, perhaps, hopelessly damaged one, I think it's my very first one: it is 4TB, After dropping it for the 5th or 6th (or 12th? 18th?) time--also, this damaging time, it was onto a quite hard surface--it would spin, but not read. but idk. I need to take it to a shop and see if the data can be recovered. If the data can be recovered after I stupidly kept plugging it in when it wouldn't read, all the more praise to WD. Even if the data is lost, am clumsy, and it had taken many falls before. Just never one on an uncarpeted, uncushioned, hard surface. My confidence is such I did not hesitate purchasing a 5TB WD easystore to shift the data to, if it can be recovered, and nevermind that, I'd already bought another 5TB WD easystore when the 4TB was half full. And I think I have one waiting in the wings for whenever. This just popped up for me to review it, so idk if it's the one I bought to shift my data to after the damage, or if it's the one that's currently attached to my laptop, or the one I still have sitting in its box, from when I saw it was on sale for $90 again, so why not have an extra 5TB just hanging around? I'm a pure fan of these WD easystore 5TB external portables. I've now taken measures to prevent untoward outcomes when I'm clumsy, since the one may be lost, but it took 3 years of clumsiness before I had to pay the reaper, which may sound like a short period of time--but I can be right clumsy. They are beautifully wee, and I haven't noticed any issue playing games I keep on the externals exclusively, so the games can be played on different computers in different places with the same data. Mind, am no playing intensely competitive FPS games with others online, like, but Witcher III, GalCivIII, Outer Wilds, KSP... provided the computer has the CPU to drive it, I can play all these from the external with zero issues. Likewise I keep all my video and music on the externals, and have never had any problem accessing those, but those really don't require much work from a drive. I mean, I'd expect that should go fine from any old 2.0 flash thumb drive. or even a legacy USB thumbdrive. Let me be clear: I am NOT advocating dropping these external portable hard drives. It should be avoided at all costs. It's the fact that whether it's luck or genuinely solid construction, for me, these things have proven capable of taking a bit of a beating, and since I *am* clumsy, I can be won over by what seems to be resilience in dire straits. Eventually, they do have their limits, but considering complaints I typically see by other consumers of other externals, touch wood, these things are the dug's baws :)

Highly Recommended
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Minus the problems getting it mounted to MacOS (which was user error and not the device), this is an excellent external drive. Can't beat the price for 5TB. Buy once and have so much space or keep paying for cloud storage forever... I choose to buy once! It will take me forever to fill this. And I've never had a WD external fail on me - this is not my first one...

Great for offsite backups
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like these drives because they are compact enough for easy portability and can power off USB, yet have better capacity (and seem more reliable) than USB flash drives. I bought a bunch of them to use for off-site backups, where I store them in places far from my home (my desk at work, a safe at my parents' house) for optimal disaster recovery. I've been using these for quite a few years, from when 2 TB was the largest available size, and I've never had any failures.

Bought for PlayStation and I give it an A+
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to add storage to my PlayStation. I've never needed external storage with the system before, but my boy is taking up more and more space, so it was time. I was a little worried that it wouldn't run smoothly during gameplay, but honestly, this thing has been almost completely seamless. I plugged it in and it was pretty much good to go. I haven't noticed any lag playing games that are stored on the external drive compared to that stored internally. Super slick!
