This is a great external drive. I use it for secondary backup activities, including the drive and system restoration settings of a WIN 10 Pro system (I also use a cloud service). This drive is very large by capacity but small in size. It is fast, as well, so make sure you plug it into a USB 3.x port. It also works fine in USB 2 mode. It runs silently. At least I haven't heard any whirrings yet. Probably never will.

As with all WD external hard drives. The performance is great and capacity is large, but the best thing of all the price is just right!!!

These storage drives never cease to amaze me. They are strictly for storage and viewing, I recently had a huge project which was 7.8 terabytes. I backed up my entire project to this drive. It's trusted and reliable.

This external HD is exactly what I needed to handle storage for some massive datasets that I've been processing lately. It was quick to set up, has a stable connection, and is reliable. Would definitely recommend and am contemplating getting additionals for the office!

I have 3 4TB my book external hard drives. One Is used on my pc for plex movie and music server. I added this 8TB easystore drive so that I will not have to worry about running out of space for movies. I should be able to get roughly 1500 bluray movies on this drive alone. I couldn't pass up the great deal on black Friday $129 for 8tb is awesome.

Lots of space for an excellent price. Came formatted for windows which is fine. Some may complain about speed but it’s a backup drive in my use case so that’s not a negative for me. You can’t expect spinning media to transfer as fast as an SSD.

8TB of storage is impressive and can be used to transfer data from multiple computers and still have plenty of space left over. I purchased this when it was on sale for less than $200 as I was running out of space on my internal HDD of my desktop. The external HDD uses USB 3.0, so the data transfer rates are much faster than USB 2.0 devices.

Product was easy to use and is wort the price. I do a lot of editing and video work ao I neec a lot of space and memory. It is great product to use.

I love Western Digital external drives. I have 3 of them and they have been very reliable. Back up ALL your files to stay safe!

Excellent external drive. Came with all the items. Easy to setup and start using. Just plug in the cable and power supply then you're good to go. Formatted in NTFS so if you're using Windows and Linux, this I great. If you're using Mac, the format is read-only. You need to reformat it to an Apple-supported system or download some software to access it. The one thing I didn't like is the temperature on the hard drive. If you're using it for an extended period, it's best to add some sort of cooling to it. Otherwise, the drive will go very hot, which isn't good for its life.

I had two externals die within a week of each other and scrambling to get a large format external to create backups of those. It's no the fastest external I have had, but the price was right for a quick off the shelf purchase to start the recovery process. Compatible with my WD NAS, I can plug this to give added storage capacity.

Have you ever had a hard drive failure? If so you can appreciate the need for routine backup of your files. We purchased the Western Digital easystore 8TB from Best Buy and now have routine backup for our PC's. The particular model we purchased is 8TB allowing for worry free, regular backups. It is very easy to use and instantly gets you backing up your data. It also makes for an excellent addition to storage space expansion. Get a WD easystore and stop worrying about backups.

The HDs in this unit are the white label red drives. Cache and rpms, speed test - everything confirms red drives. The enclosures are very easy to shuck, and if you are careful and make sure to keep the parts, you can reuse the enclosures for other drives. Have two of these running in a Synology 418play and no issues with setup or configuration. Great drives for use in a NAS, or for use in the case as an external HD, and hard to beat 8 TB for the sale price.

I have bought several of these and am amazed with how well the drives performed. I have tons of data and needed the space. These drives perform the same for me internally or externally. That is just amazing. They are not designed to be used internally in theory but they are internal drives in an external enclosure. Highly recommended. I bought the drives made in Thailand and each as the 256mb cache. They are all so far the RED NAS drives.

Excellent for the storage of Raw photo files and the edited product. Easy to install and very quite.
