This replaced a 5-year old backup drive. I usually replace my internal HDD and external backup drives whenever I buy a new PC. I historically purchased systems with Seagate drives. But after a couple catastrophic failures with Seagate, I switched to Western Digital and haven't had any problems since (15+ years). This backup drive is a newer version of what I used on my previous system with some new features. I purchased this during a sale and got a great price. I'm going to watch to see if the price drops more before Christmas.

Purchased this external hard drive to expand storage capabilities on an Xbox One. Plugged the drive in to one of the three Xbox USB 3.0 ports, followed the prompt to format the drive to store game data, and was ready to go. It was easy to move existing game data from the internal drive to the external drive. Note: You will need space on your power strip or electrical outlet to plug in the power adapter. If you are using this drive with the Xbox One and use a lot of accessories that also need USB ports, you may want to buy a 4-port USB hub. I wasn't thinking about that when I bought this and had to pick one up later.

After having checked multiple reviews for various external hard drives I have decided on this Western Digital product as the best combo between performance, reliability and price for my needs. I have a smaller WD external drive (1TB) that I have been using for about five years now with no issues. I hope the recent 4TB I purchased will provide the same reliability.

Easy to get up and running, tons of space for photos and videos.

I am the go-to tech guy for my friends. I always backup their systems before I do anything (lesson learned). Having 4 TB's on a single out-boarded drive makes things so much easier. I can retain their backup for several months while helping other friends and not have to worry about the drive filling up. Also, having the throughput of USB3 allows less time waiting for the backup to complete. This is a solid workhorse. You will not be disappointed.

I was looking for a large capacity backup drive for a relative, compatible with Apple Time Machine. This drive didn't have a lot of extraneous features, like internet-accessibility, and other potential security risks or points of failure. It was priced well, and was plug and play out of the box with an iMac needing a Time Machine drive. I recommend this drive as a backup drive for your purposes, PC or Mac.

Got this on sale over the holidays due to my old 1TB WD External Hard Drive finally ran out of empty space. Installed this hard drive and everything has been running smooth whenever I use it. The WD software installation was different from the older software that came with the 1TB drive, so that took a little getting used to in the beginning. Next time I have to get another external hard drive it will be from the WD brand.

Our "old" MyBook was over 11 years old - still performing just fine. Decided it was time for a "non-panic" transition. Simple to install - works out of the box - powered via our UPS so it is always available and reliable. Was in stock - great price. Highly recommend for home back-up and piece of mind.

Plenty of space for a digital packrat like me. I bought this to help me organize my photos and videos. Well now I need another because I have filled this one to the brim and need to add more files. I don't know how I got this way. Some of us are hoarders. At least my hoard is contained in a a neat little unassuming box.

I purchased this as an external storage device for my PS4 it works well although there is a bit of lag before playing a game it takes 25 seconds or so to start

This is a perfect addition to your PS4 for storage. You can use up to 8TB external for your PS4, but 4 is plenty for me. No lags or hiccups.

This was a graduation gift for my nephew. His reason why this works for him? This was the best option for external storage for his X Box 1. Quiet and fast. Formatting is easy and straightforward. There you have it. He got what he wanted/needed and I've secured my position as the best Auntie ever. He recommends this wholeheartedly.

This external is one of the more reliable ones i have found, easy setup and fast delivery. In this instant it was also better deal than amazon and was delivered faster also. Comes with software but i use windows file history which is built in to windows 10.

Works great. No real additional setup needed. Plug and play. If you have a large library I would recommend a 8tb but this works great for the casual gamer.

I have all of my Xbox One X games on my WD My Book 4 TB external storage and they play great directly from the My Book. Load times are as fast as the Xbox One X and I can't tell any difference in the way the games play or look when playing from the internal or external hard drives. The My Book has 4 TB of storage that should handle my game library for a long time. I currently have 30 games (11 of them Xbox One X Enhanced) and have 80% of the storage space still available. The unit is quiet, relatively small in physical size, and looks good next to the Xbox. I picked this up based on positive reviews that indicated it was good for gaming, and the reviews were right.

Good hard disk drive. It is easy to load docs or other things on the drive. Easy to install and hooks up. The larger terabyte helps with large files.

I use this terabyte drive to store more video for my security cameras. it has been dependable and instead of storing one week on my computer I can store up to 28 days with this hard drive. Easy to set up easy to use.

After filling up the 2TB drive I put in my PS4, I thought things were going downhill fast until the recent update that allows games to be on external drives. Have similar MyBooks on my XB1 and WiiU; performance, size, reliability, and price have all been great.

Worked great for backing up my laptop. I've only used it twice but no issues.
