I bought this drive a couple years ago and it's worked great as additional storage for my photo libraries, music & video files, etc. Good deal for the price. ** This comes formatted as exFAT, which is technically compatible with both Windows and Mac, but at least with my iMac is is noticeably slower. If you are using a Mac, be sure to reformat it before you use it.

Bought this to replace an aging storage drive ready to give up the ghost. Plug and Play setup and was able to back up the old drive. USB3 didn't take forever and a day to copy over.

I needed to retire an old high performance gaming PC to build a home office. I was able to store all my old data with ease with plenty of room left over. This device was very easy to set up and set up for weekly backup of new PC. The additional utilities is a plus in case of need.

My family has years of pics and videos on their phones and as you can imagine, each one's free 5GB cloud space is maxed out. So I found this product and the price was awesome! So awesome that I decided to go with it, knowing I didn't necessarily need 4TB, instead of the 1TB. It is rock solid and I am happy I made the purchase. Definitely would recommend it to others, especially if you can find it on sale.

Bought for use on Xbox One X

I thought my older generation My Book 4TB had given up the ghost recently and I like to keep my games on my HDD so I can play them on a whim. My Xbox would not recognize the drive at all. So I went out and bought this version of the My Book to replace it and started downloading the games again to get back where I was before (took a week, ugh). Since I had my replacement, and my original drive was out of warranty, I decided to crack open the case on the old one and do some diagnostics using WD's tools to see what happened. The drive passed all tests...including the heavy duty (9 hours!) test. So I used the utility to perform a low level format, and when I plugged it back into the Xbox (without the enclosure) it was recognized and reformatted just fine. I believe something went wrong with the little controller board inside the enclosure, so now I am using it as my own backup of my games in case it happens again. Something to try before throwing it out! This drive seems to work fine, but I do miss the the activity light the old enclosure had.

Great Memory Upgrade for Low Price!

I have always suffered from some sort of memory loss. My first 1 TB Seagate died 2 years into it's life and my recent WD 2TB died 5 years into it's life. My grandfather had Alzheimer's and that's probably why I think I have major memory problems too. I'm not sure if it is hereditary or just bad luck on my part but I can't remember a dang thing, like my WD 2 TB drive is over 3 years old and needed to be replaced prior to failure. So in year 5 of my drive my 2 TB drive starts having problems remembering things, like how to boot up and I start to panic because I had forgotten to back up my data! 2 TB of data is a lot of stuff to back up. As a side note, I realize that my grandfather had Parkinson's not Alzheimer's and he was my grandmother's second husband so there is not blood relation nor hereditary traits passed on to me. I just forget things easily, most likely from my early childhood trauma. Regardless, I ordered this 4 TB hard drive the day the other one started failing, had my wife pick it up at Best Buy and by the skin of my teeth was able to connect my old 2 TB hard drive and have it boot up one last time so I could copy over all of my files onto my new hard drive. The only negative is that my computer only has USB 2.0 and not USB 3.0 so the transfer literally took 2 days! Overall, I'm impressed. I downloaded the security app that comes with the hard drive so one has to enter a username and password to access the data, or maybe just a password, I forget. I would highly recommend this television to anyone that has memory problems like me. Sorry, that was a bad joke, I recommend this hard drive.
