If you take thousands of photos and need extra room on your hard drive,you will love this one. I will probably not need another one,since this has so much room on it!

very large hard drive at a good price, the only problem is my computer doesn't boot up if it's plugged in, have to plug it in after start up. for some reason my mother board won't start up with larger hard drives than 2 gb

I was in need of having one place to keep all my pictures and documents. I had over 15 thumb drives until I made this purchase, now everything is in one secure place.

I bought this hard drive for use with my Playstation4. For the price, I couldn't go wrong. Installed very easily and creates a ton of extra storage on my console.

Got it for my son to use with his Xbox. This drive has been hauled from house to house hanging out with his friends. Bounced around on the back floorboard and used, connected to power inverters, WHILE we took vacations. My son has since moved in with his girlfriend, then girlfriend, then girlfriend... you see where I'm going. He might not be making me proud but the durability of this external drive is! He turns 19 in a few months. I'm hoping it's a breakthrough year! All you can do is laugh and shake you're head. But this drive hasn't let me down. And better yet! There's no chance this drive will show up and tell me it needs to move back in with a sketchy girl because I'm gonna be a Grandpa! *sigh*

If you need extra hard drive space, for desktop, or even for laptops. However this isn't intended to be a mobile device. For performance and value, it can't be beat. Buy this product with confidence. You'll be happy with the added hard drive space, and even happier when you consider the money you've saved! I highly recommend this product! It's also great for backing up data, or your entire PC!

I have a great deal of music that I converted to mp3 format. I need an external hard drive to store it. The WD My Book 4TB gave me the ability to do that and it works perfectly! Plus, the WD product is a product I trust. A must-have for music or anything you need to store safely and securely!

Product works good. It's nice to be able to set a password on the device to protect stored information. I've always had good luck with Western Digital drives compared to other drives. I had to restore my laptop from a prior WD Acronis True Image backup from an older 5 year old WD My Book drive. The restore went flawless and brought my laptop back to life. I bought this drive to extend the WD Acronis True Image license for another 5 years and to add more storage. Apparently the WD Acronis True Image software only has a 5 year license.

I bought two of these with one being used as a backup for the other. I am using them to store still pictures and videos including videos made with a Canon VIXIA HF R800 Camcorder. I am connecting one to an Xbox One X to display the pictures and videos on my HD TV. Before I bought these, I had an external hard drive connected to USB port 1 on the back of the Xbox for games and apps and a Kinect connected to port 2 on the back, and a USB dongle connected to the front USB port for a keyboard. At first, I tried to connect a hub to the front port and connect this drive and the dongle to the hub, but the Xbox could not see this drive in that configuration. I called Western Digital and they told me that the drive was not intended to work with a hub. I called Best Buy Geek squad and we figured out to connect the hub to port 2 on the back and connect the dongle and the Kinect to the hub, and then connect this drive directly to the front USB port. The equipment is working perfectly that way.

Western Digital drives have always been my goto, I've never had problems with the drives I've had over the years. I got this due to the cost at the time being well within my budget. I had initially told myself I had no need for that much space, but I figured I might as well get myself something ahead of time and I'm glad I did. I only use about a 1/4 of the drive right now and use it as my Time Machine backup location. With the data I have and the TM backup, I'm still well under 1TB. It is pretty durable as well, I accidentally knocked it over and thought I just killed the drive, but I picked it up and set it back on the desk, and it works without any issues, other than a few scratches on the plastic. Granted I don't recommend dropping it but I'm surprised it came through it without any issue.

I am currently using this drive for the new PS4 patch which allows external storage to be used to install PS4 games. I am over a TB without any issue, and it runs smooth and silent. I will update if I encounter any issues but it has been fine for over a week. I have 3 previous gen WD 4 TB's for my PC and XB1 respectively for going on 2 years and have yet to encounter a single issue.

Easy to set up and is working just fine. Using Windows 10 file history backup instead of the WD software - by choice. Did not try the WD software.

I purchased this about a month ago. Have been using it nearly everyday. Have had zero problems with it. No freeze ups when sending numerous videos to it all at once, along with large amounts of documents at the same time. Been trying to get all the info off main drive on the computer since it's nearly full along with stuff off a couple old 500 Gig drives.

I had to make a quick choice because my old back up died. This product was recommended at Best Buy and it works great. Easy to use and set up.

This really increases my storage. Easy to use. Capacious. Quiet.

I've only had this drive for a little over a month but so far no issues. It has a 5400 RPM drive in it, WD could have used a 7200 RPM in it like the 8TB and 14TB My Book versions. Read/Write speeds are nothing to write home about, then again it's a mechanical drive not a SSD. Overall, it serves it's purpose for backups and storage.

This is my 5th WD My Book purchased because they are reliable and so simple to use. I prepare many income tax returns and I use them to rotate backups of sensitive, important information. I also have two that have over 20,000 songs on for my listening pleasure. I buy no other brand of back up units because of the confidence I have in these...

The hard drive was easy to install and use. No problem at all. It is a little slow when opening up the drive from windows (i.e. you can fill the wait), but in general, working as expected.
