I am able to load images as my first backup and then still a second and third backups on other devices.

Bought this to combine 4 old external drives. Plenty of space to copy the drives and set-up a back-up of my internal drive. Easy. Quick. At a great price too.

Absolutely no problems, works fine with backups. Set timer to Back up every week, but mostly do it myself.

Was highly recommended by my tech-savvy son and his friends as a reliable vessel for back-up files. Just finished transferring everything a copy of everything from various and sundry devices, and barely scratched the surface of its capacity. I did make a slight noise during the process - sort of like a slow dripping noise. I moved it from the table-top to down behind my PC onto the carpet. No more noise...or at least I couldn't hear it any longer.

I bought this together with a new PC when the Windows 7 Armageddon arrived in January 2020. This seemed to be an easy way to move several TB of data from my old PC to the new one while maintaining a backup at the same time. It's done exactly what I needed, and it's a decent size that's relatively unobtrusive in my home office. Neither PC had any difficulty recognizing the device, either.

Great external storage device if you need a lot of extra files stored.

Working great for Time Machine backup. Had to reformat for Mac, which is easy with Disk Utility. It is a bit loud (you can hear the disk "thumping" like older hard drives) but it's not overwhelming. For the price, it's a lot of storage. Also bought a couple weeks later another WD 8TB drive called Easy Storage which is a bit less and not as noisy.

I was looking for a external harddrive to use to back up my main PC. I looked at several different drives and zeroed in on the WD- My Book 8TB external HD. It comes with a built in software to do the back up. I used the enclosed Windows file backup program and that work well with the external HD. I recommend it to anyone who needs to back up your data.

It works great and the capacity is very good when you have plenty of pictures.

Drive looks nice on the desk and 8TB for around 200 is a pretty good deal. I actually purchased this more for the internal drive, which I did remove to use in another system. The internal drive has a generic label, but based on performance and other reviews, it appears to be a WD Blue (the days of NAS or HGST He drives for $200 are over i'm afraid). Note that the SATA/USB adapter board will need to be modded if using the enclosure with any other drive besides the one included. If you're just looking for an external drive with high capacity, it's just fine- fairly quiet and a good price.

I love this this is my go to external hard drive! WD products in general is my favorite brand for external hard drives! Beyond capable of achieving my needs as a photographer who is constantly storing large file sizes and images! If you are looking for something that is to stay at home as a master storage this is it. You should also know it does need to be plugged in to an outlet as well as a usb to be used.

Easy set up... plenty of storage for backing up a full computer disk drive

I bought this for my HP computer equipped with Windows 10. I wanted desktop backup, in addition to cloud backup. This was exactly what I needed. Took about 2 minutes to hook up, and was automatic from then on. I love it.

I purchased this to use as an extended memory for my playstation 4, instead of replacing the internal hard drive. It works flawlessly and I have a ton of storage space for my games, the save data, apps and a lot more.

This HDD has lots of space for backup. Faster than I expect. Sometimes makes slight noise or clicking sound. But very reliable HDD.
