This is a no brainer! Hook it up and get all of those files backed up! when I did my course on DOS (oops! that's how old I am!) I will never forget the trainer saying Backup! Backup! Backup! You will never regret getting an external drive to copy all those precious memories and alllll that hard work you put into siting and working on the computer! What I do is make a directory using the date like this: "2021-06-15 BU" and straight copy of my data files as a good backup. in a couple of weeks time I do the same again, under a new date. This has enough space to do several rolling backups so an older version is always ready. So if the computer crashes for whatever reason those precious files are there. Phew! Just as well I backed up!

Great capacity, great price if it's on sale at 129.99 like mine was. It's the cheapest way to get a WD Red 8TB drive. The drive sticker is white but it's still a red drive.

Got this external drive to house photos, videos and music so that they would be backed up to the cloud. Found out the hard way that the cloud service would not back up drives formatted with exFAT. Had to reformat the drive to NTFS. Once that was done everything works fine.

I currently have 6 of these 8TB external hard drives which I've removed the drive from the enclosure and installed into my Synology 1817+ NAS server. The drives have white labels but are WD's red NAS drives which normally sell for over $300ea. Great buy!

I have had this external drive for a few months now and use it with my home theater pc setup. I have no complaints so far and I am totally happy with its performance. Right out of the box was a really easy plug and play setup for me and the extra software included is a plus.

This seems to be a good unit, it is a bit noisier than the 4TB My Books, you can hear it like clunking and clicking as others have reported too. And it looks like you can get rid of your password without having to wipe the drive. I just wish it didn't make the sounds it makes, but it seems to work great.

This has to be my tenth WD drive purchase in my life and became the third one added to my mac Mini. The oldest is 7 years old and still going strong. I use them for the majority of my file storage and for all Time Machine backups. Can't go wrong.

Replaced a failed Seagate 3TB drive, losing all data. Have a much older 500GB WD drive which is still working well, so decided to buy a new WD. Very satisfied so far - zero issues.

Have had several WD drives over the years, upgrading to larger as needed and have never had a problem. Some of the older drives less than 1TB are still working fine. This drive was simply plug and play. Connected to my router and I can see it anywhere in house.

Great piece of gear. Set up was easy, as was moving games, files, etc. to the device. This freed up much needed space (for more games, lol) and our gaming PC runs much better now.

While this drive has the capacity I was looking for, it is the loudest hard drive I have owned since the 1990's. I am using this on a MAC and with Carbon Cloner backup software. Although CC says there are read errors, MAC First Aid says the drive is fine. Time will tell. One of the reasons I bought this drive over the Seagate is I had two 4TB Seagates and one of the went bad right after the warranty was up and the other, while I have had issues on the MAC with it, is still working. Hope I made the right choice.

I like the ease of use of this drive and the 8 GB makes it easy to put larger files on. The only complaint I have is the charger (plug in wall portion) is separating somewhat. It has not been dropped or anything else so I don't know why this is happening.
