I'm disappointed on the backup software, it fails to backup on it's own unless you force it to backup.

Filled it up as my laptop was almost near failure. Easy to use, secure with password and easy to carry as well.

We buy this brand every time we or a family member needs additional storage. Easy to install, intuitive to use, never had a hardware failure.

I always use WD drives now, no failures! I have had 3 Seagates fail, so stay with WD!

I bought this disk after a series of computer failures convinced me of the need for more frequent backups. My system disk is 500 GB so now I can safely store a series of backups, not just one. I stayed with WD because I found it a safe, reliable brand.

I needed something that would work to transfer my documents when I bought a new computer. This has worked with PC as well as with my Mac book. I still use it to store my photos just incase my computer ever fails and lose all my photos.

What a way to cover your electronic six. I should have bought this back up drive a long time ago. A great back up buddy for your files such as email, pics, folders, Favorites, etc....driver info, copy of paid Ms Office suites, Antivirus sofware, etc.... the stuff you dont want to loose when your computer either crashes or have an upgrade failure where your system has to be re-established or reimaged.

Bought this drive in conjunction with data retrieval that Best Buy did for me after a high capacity flash drive I had for computer backup failed. They were able to retrieve all of my data. I would highly recommend their services for any similar problems you may experience where a backup device fails and you need the data recovered.

Have had two seagate externals fail on me so I switched to WD. So far not a single issue with Western Digital (knock on wood). I now have 5 of these.

Fantastic deal. Never buy another USB or SD card that fails again. I back up everything and don't worry about getting a virus and loosing my pictures, music, reports or anything.

Old laptop went down, saying there was a hard drive failure. Purchased this to try to salvage any files possible. I was able to recover about 90% of what I wanted, which still saved me months of work to recreate those documents, plus old tax returns and pictures.

if you can't put your data on a flash drive to work from, then this drive is a good value. its spin speed at 7200 makes it adequate for video editing. that's what i'm using it for via Premier Pro CC. and i've yet to have a WD drive fail; i've lost some LaCie drives otoh.

I have tons of these laying around everywhere. I use them to back up my photos for my photography business. I load them with photos from the previous 6 months then place them in a fire resistant safe. So for I havnt had any fail on me.

I bought this as an addition to my collection of external drives. I have a smaller capacity WD that is now full and a Toshiba drive that failed. I think all brands can fail at one time or another, so I don't fault Toshiba, but it makes me careful when looking for a new one. Good price too!

After having a hard drive failure on my desktop computer (first time having one go bad in 20 years), I decided it would be a good idea to regularly back up my laptop as well. I purchased the My Passport unit at my local Best Buy, using some of my Rewards points. It installed quickly and easily. I set up a backup day and time, though I usually plug it in at odd times. I've never had a problem with running the backups and they rarely take more than 20 minutes or so.
