The new version of the hard drive has a new Sleek look and is pretty fast it also comes with a little bit longer cable than the previous version and it's usb 3.0.. transfer speeds are very fast... I love this drive

I finally listened to everyone who told me to get an external hard-drive for routine daily back-ups, and bought this model as recommended by the salesman. I panicked when there seemed to be no paper instructions and plugged it in. Couldn't be simpler. Other reviews can go into the technical comparisons of the included software, but l can vouch that it does the job and easily walks you through set-up.

After having a hard drive failure on my desktop computer (first time having one go bad in 20 years), I decided it would be a good idea to regularly back up my laptop as well. I purchased the My Passport unit at my local Best Buy, using some of my Rewards points. It installed quickly and easily. I set up a backup day and time, though I usually plug it in at odd times. I've never had a problem with running the backups and they rarely take more than 20 minutes or so.

It is nice to have an extra one terabyte storage quick convenient an easy to use. Just plug in play USB fast access to data.
