Customers often highlight the portability, size, and overall performance of the My Passport 1TB External USB Type-C Portable SSD, with many praising its compact design and fast speeds. Positive feedback also mentions the ample storage capacity and convenient connectivity options. However, some users have noted concerns regarding heat generation and occasional compatibility issues with certain systems. A shorter-than-ideal cable length was also mentioned as a minor drawback.

purchased this to back up a new MacBook air with USB-C ports. This is very light weight and compact, the transfer is much, much faster than my previous USB-A external drive. Highly recommend if your computer has USB-C ports.

So small and so fast! Love the USB 2.0 to 3.0 converter. Makes it easy to find a port! Using USB 3.0, this little thing is like lightning! It does get a little warm, although I was using it to store a live SQL database!!

It is very fast and works well. It does get a bit hot to the touch when doing large transfers, but I don't think that is a problem. I like how much faster it is than regular hard disk based external drives

Good grief! I've been using WD My Passport hard drives for a decade. This is my first external SSD. I moved my Apple Photos library onto it and had the immediate reaction of "where have you been all my life?" The speed difference the added bandwidth provides is kind of unreal. And this drive doesn't even take full advantage of the Thunderbolt speeds my new Mac Mini is capable of. These little drives are great! It looks like WD may be discontinuing them in lieu of their SanDisk SSD drives. I got this one for less than $100 and at that price, it was a steal!

So far this drive is working great. Backing up my computers was much faster than the standard platter drive I had before.

Bought for my college daughter to run Time Machine backup on her MacBook Air. Fully compatible with Mac. Easy to connect and format. Older daughter has been using the same SSD for two years without any issues.
