I've had a Mac since 1985. I can't believe the number of files I've lost in the interim. No more. This portable hard drive sets up easy, works with Time Machine, and truly is portable when you need everything with you on the go.

Good product. Easy to use and transfer files right into. I was able to split drive in 2 parts via my Mac. I didn't have any issues once I separated data everything was stored and complete. It's small enough to travel with. But I was advised not to move it around to much because it is light weight. Good back up to leave at home or office and use when needed.

The reason I bought this one was two fold. First, it was sized perfect to stow anywhere because is compact and second, I have a mac and I always try to get hardware that will handshake well. It did just that. No drivers need be installed and it worked flawlessly!

My previous hard drive quit working and was causing problems with my computer so I decided to purchase this WD drive although I had not used this brand previously. It installed easily and began working immediately. It has proven to be a very fine unit so far.

This is the second one of these HD's that I have purchased in the last fews months. One for MAC Timer Machine and the other to store all my photos on. So far no problems, Highly recommend this HD and it is a nice small size and looks good too,

This is a very easy to use back up. The fact that it’s already designed for Mac makes it even easier. Just plug in and turn on the Time Machine and let it begin. Very easy to use and comes with downloadable apps to assist with other things.

I've bought WD's Passport drives before, and even though this one is an updated version, I've never had any problems with them. They work for years (in my experience) and are almost idiot-proof.

A Best Buy employee recommended this small portable external hard drive. For the size , it works well to back up all of your information. It also automatically recognizes changes to your computer and does automatic updates every 24 hours. The only recommendation I would give is if you are going to encrypt your hard drive do this first before you back up your data. I did it the other way around. The encryption then took approximately two days to finish.

The "My Passport for Mac 1TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Black" is a great value. Worked out-of-the-box with my older Macbook Pro. Great for as a source drive for film editing or Time Machine back-ups. Highly recommended.

I needed a portable drive for my Macbook and saw this one at a discount. So far, I didn't encounter any problems with usage, form factor could be improved, however the storage and speed is sufficient enough to justify the price.

I love that this device will automatically delete the oldest backup when it gets full.... I do not have to go back and figure out what to delete. The storage is large enough to have several back up on the device to keep all data safe and secure.

Best Buy also matched the price with another model so that was good to go. Was made aware of some additional feartures to retrieve data from External Portable Hard Drive by Apple Support. Note! See above the photo of the product I reviewed.

I read a lot of reviews before choosing this hard drive. I bought it in order to back up my Mac before updating the operating system because I was afraid of some disaster that would cause all my photos and important files to be lost. It worked flawlessly with Time machine, even for a newbie like myself. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I have not had to use it to restore anything yet so I cannot comment on that.

I needed to back up my Macbook Pro and chose this to do it. I was able to easily move my pictures to the storage drive. I haven't tried going the opposite direction and moving pictures from the storage drive back to my mac. So far, I like it.

This is a handy little item to carry with you as back-up for your computer. I have traveled with this small but efficient device all over the world. It hardly takes up any space and it weighs practically nothing. I say.....get it!

Small, light, portable external HD & 1TB is Awesome

My Passport is great to back up files to an extended hard drive and is easy to use to update back up weekly or monthly. No hassle. There are specific MyPassport for Windows or Mac so be sure to get the correct MyPassport for your computer.

Very convenient, pre-formatted for Mac disc drive. Setup was extremely easy, and easily encrypted with the included software. USB Powered, Plug and play, no additional power supply necessary at an extremely affordable price.

I've always trusted WD hard drives above the rest. They have never let me down. Purchased this one for my sisters mac back up, worked great. Have the pc equivalent working with my Xbox one. Great speeds, loads quick. Would recommend.

I had to buy a new external hard drive when my computer crashed and it was necessary to back up all my data, but I was thinking about getting another one anyway. I was surprised how small it is--about the size of a smart phone.
