I love plug-n-play external drives, and this is easy and has 4 T so I can put tons of RAW photos on it. I've got my fingers crossed that it holds up. I've had a couple passports in the past that just quit working. That's really frustrating. So I'm using this as a back up and then backing everything up onto a larger WD 4T drive too.

Used this to back up a failing back up drive. Took nearly 12hrs to back up a 2 TB drive with room to spare! Love the size and capacity.

Bought my first Passport for Mac (4TB) when my wife had major issues with her Macbook HD and we needed a quick solution to try and rescue her files. It worked great and we were able to retrieve her files before having to reformt her Macbook. Since that time, we have bought a second one for myself to use as a time machine for my iMac. The Passport comes with a lot of additional utilities that you may or may not use, but overall it is a nice HD for use with an Apple computer.

I use this as an extra drive for my PS4 putting many games on it since the ps4 hdd is only 1 TB. I don't notice any issues with game play when playing games that are on this drive even with VR games. So needless to say drive is fast enough and has a good amount of storage.

I was surprised at how small and compact the unit is for an external hard drive back-up. It is very small and fits in a case for easy transport. It is quick, easy to install and does a great job with Apple Time Machine backups or to backup other information. The capacity of the unit lets you not only do Time Machine backups, but also lets you store large volumes of photographs and other information. It is a very good value for what you pay for this unit.

It has great build quality, size and performance. Huge space saver digitally and physically.

This is my second one of these. My wife fills them with her photography. They come formatted for Mac and have good read and write speeds. Best bargain for the price.

Western Digital's My Passport Portable HD is a great option for tremendous storage capacity at a budget-friendly price. This is certainly not the top-of-the-line of WD's drives, so the speed isn't always the best when reading/writing files, especially when transferring a lot of files. But so far, no major problems after some heavy usage for a few weeks. The design itself isn't the most attractive either, but unless you really care about a stylish exterior - this little gadget will suffice.

This is the 5th one that I’ve purchased. I use it to store 4K video files. It is simple to set-up and use and it is reliable. I have never had a problem using any of the external hard drives. They have all worked perfectly. If I need additional storage space I will not hesitate to purchase this again.

I have purchased several Western Digital external hard drives over the years for backing up files from my mac computers and have always found them thoroughly reliable. I buy the drives already formatted for macs and sometimes have to spend a few extra dollars for that. Although I've had friends tell me they buy the regular WD drives and format them themselves quite easily. Great product for the price!

Perfect for all my photos. I take a ton of pictures of my children. Hopefully I’ll never run out of room.

Our Seagate portable hard drive was good while it lasted which I’ve never had great luck with seagate for some reason. Western Digital has always been our go to and when they had this in stock this time it was a no brainer. This item is amazing with a good amount of storage too!

I've used Western Digital drives for many years and have become a fan favorite of their MAC External Hard Drives. I am primarily a Apple Mac products user (iMac & PowerBooks) and I take a lot of sports photography. Storage and editing is a big activity for me, so having durable external hard drives makes flexibility and storage a must. My experience has been great with these drives along with the backup feature.

Transfers and downloads quickly. Lots of storage. Nice to have everything on one device.

The external hard was very easy to set up, is small and doesn't take up much room. It performs flawlessly for me. It is an absolute necessity in backing up my large photo files as well as my other documents and music that I compose. Highly recommended.

I've owned many Western Digital external USB powered drives over the years. As bigger size drives have been created I buy new ones. I've never had one fail. They work great. I'm using this new 4TB one as part of my data backup scheme. I create one huge almost 4TB VeraCrypt file as an encrypted disk partition. I then mount it as a drive letter and copy all my data to it. I keep this drive in a desk at work. The encryption means that if the drive is stolen I don't have to worry about anyone having access to all my data. Even with the overhead of the encrypt/decrypt of VeraCrypt the Western Digital drive is still plenty fast. I've played movies off the encrypted drive and it easily handles the speed.

Just wanted something to work right away with my Mac and be quietly reliable.
