Exceptional accuracy regarding the historical background provided for America’s involvement, after France realized it could no longer control its colony. In addition, the contrasting view-points regarding the validity of America’s involvement in the Vietnam Conflict/War, was highlighted with great precision.

Regardless of the opinions of many, this action did happen and unfortunately there was a great loss of life. To all who served I'm sure you don't have fond memories of your service time in Vietnam and other countries where we served. For me, this movie reminded me of why we served. To this day I will remember those who didn't survive. So let's not be so critical of the ways this action was portrayed but let's take a moment to remember the fallen.

For anyone who lived through the 1960s or for anyone who loves looking back on history, the movie We Were Soldiers will not disappoint. One of Mel Gibson's most memorable pictures for the story it tells and the human characteristics strung in unspeakable difficult circumstances. The film leaves all of us asking the same old questions: Why? Was it worth it? What happened?

I think that "We Were Soldiers" was one of the greatest historical films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite historical films of all-time. I have seen and enjoyed this film several times and I also think that "We Were Soldiers" had a lot of entertaining, exciting and enjoyable action, drama, mystery and suspense including an exciting and original storyline.

Finally, a film about Vietnam that focuses on the soldiers and their bond with one another. An incredibly American story, before the Vietnam war became so hated and complicated. Does not focus on the usual things most Vietnam war movies focus on! It tells a great story about some of the first american boots in Vietnam. Great performance by Gibson and company.

This movie shows how tough it was in the Vietnam war. The people of this country need to know how it was to be there. I hope everyone who watches this movie will now have respect for those American soldiers who died and those who came home and were not recognized for their efforts there. Great acting by Mel Gibson and Sam Elliott. Good action movie.

A fact-based tale of men under fire, their common acts of uncommon valor, and their loyalty to and love for one another during one of the most savage military battles in U.S. history. On November 14, 1965, in the Ia Drang Valley of Vietnam, in a small clearing called Landing Zone X-Ray, Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore and 400 troopers from the U.S. 7th Air Cavalry are surrounded by 2000 enemy soldiers in what would become the first, and perhaps the worst, major battle of the Vietnam War.

This may be my favorite war movie of all time, it really brings in the reality from the battlefield all the way back to the families. Some phenomenal actors who play their roles down to the tea.

The movie itself is the best dealing with the Vietnam era. Emotional and will impact any veteran no matter the generation. Mel Gibson and Sam Elliott deliver great performances.

Perhaps the best war movie ever. I have long-loved this movie, but seeing it in blu-ray on a big screen was great. This film portrayed the young men as real people as they lived and died in this first battle of the "helicopter soldiers" against tremendous odds.

Excellent adaptation and one of Mel Gibson’s best performances. Greg Kinnear and Barry Pepper in supporting roles are excellent. Historic accounts are well done and not candy coated. Highly recommended.

The movie is very powerful and moving. I cared about the characters and felt wholly engrossed in the plot. The fact this is a true story only made it all that more thrilling. Once of the best dramas I ever saw.

We Were Soldiers is an action packed war movie. What is really interesting is when the wives of the soldiers get notified of their husbands deaths.

Bought this for my son for Christmas. He said the movie was great and really enjoyed it.

Viet Nam 1965. This is based on an actual event and reveals true emotions both at home and in war. It actually opens up both sides of the enemies. Bravery--and stupidity-- are revealed throughout.

Great movie that is based in North Vietnam shows the story of US and Vietnam forces battling back and forth. A sad story but one that is probably common of the troops that fought in Vietnam War.

This movie is a true story about Lt. Col. Hal Moore and the Viet Nam war. If you like combat movies along the lines of Platoon, Apacolypse Now and Full Medal Jacket, you will enjoy this movie!

Incredible depiction of the 1st of the 7th Cavalry unit deployed as a combat unit first deployed in Vietnam against overwhelming numbers.

This movie steps out of the normal Vietnam movie and tells a story of events just before the start of the official war began. All the actors did a great job filling their roles. Sam Elliot plays a great Command Sergeant Major!

If you like war movies with a little history, this is a great movie. It is intense with action. Be mindful of the violence, but it is a war movie.
