Can Really Boost Signal Over Small Distances

I have tested out the eqo weboost and have found that it significantly boosts my 4G LTE signal, but only in a very short distance from the booster. I already had a decent signal in the area that I tested. It was roughly -91 dBm 45 asu. To my understanding, the closer the dBm (decibel-milliwatts or the power ratio in decibels (dB) of the measured power referenced to one milliwatt (mW)) is to zero, the better. After setting up the eqo weboost, right near the booster my signal went to -67 dBm 73 asu. ASU stands for Active Set Updates or the rate at which your phone is able to update its location to the towers. So after connecting the eqo, the dBm got higher, which is good; and so did the asu, which I believe is also good.
The box claims that setup takes only five minutes, and that is pretty accurate. You have to have a window in the area that you want to use this, and the window should preferably slide open and have a screen on it. This is because there is an outside antenna that sits in between the outside of the window and the window screen. It has a flat wire that connects to it, which is good because you are able to close the window with the wire under it. The outside antenna connects to the inside antenna, which is pretty big in size (maybe half the size of an xbox one). The inside antenna must be plugged into an electrical outlet and also connects to the booster via a 25' supplied cable. I'm not a fan of running cables all over the house, which is why I didn't give this 5 stars. It really took only 5 minutes to set up and once it's plugged in, it works immediately - no programming or inputting passwords or anything.
Bottom line, if you have a workspace with bad cell signal or live in a remote location and need a good signal, this should do the trick. If you already have a decent signal and are just looking to top it out, this may be a bit of overkill.

I installed this in my 2 bedroom apartment where I get dropped calls and some of the worst reception. My apartment is shadowed by larger apartment complex around me so this causes terrible reception. The setup was very easy. it's basically plug everything together as per the instructions, you do have to hang the outdoor antenna outside your window facing outwards. Because of this you have to either place the main unit near a window or somewhat close. With my main unit placed near my window, placed the outdoor antenna right out side the window. The flat cable it came with was designed for the window to be closed on it so don't worry about damaging it. Now that the main unit and the outdoor unit were both mounted you have to mount the indoor antenna for the most effectiveness the indoor antenna should NOT be mounted close to each other so I opted to placed this near my entertainment area which was about 25 feet away. One thing to note though, both the eqo booster and the indoor antenna should be facing the same way and NOT towards each other.
With everything installed, the setup really didn't take much time. Figuring out the best way to sort and place the cables took the most amount of time which brings me to the CONS of this system, cables, lots and lots of cables. My home is somewhat wireless home. My TV cables are hidden behind the wall so the TV and most of my other electronics do not show any cables running to them. With the Eqo Boost unfortunately that is not the case. In this modern age where even my Arlo security system is wireless it doesn't make sense that this has a lot of cables you have to route. However, the Eqo Boost has dramatically improved my cellular reception, before installing the system I was consistently having dropped calls and toggled between 1 to 2 bars at most. I would have to go outside to make important phone calls which is really annoying. After installing the Eqo Boost system my phone easily gets 5 bars even in my bedroom which I really could not make a phone call at.
I would recommend this signal booster but be warned it does have a lot of cable you need to figure where and how to route.

Excellent option for boosting signal

I work from home several times a week – and my cell phone is crucial to being productive. I feel lucky that I get to sit on multiple 1-2 hour conference calls through my workday. Needless to say – being mobile within the house and still able to communicate is essential.
I live coincidentally (of course) equidistant from two cell phone towers, so it’s not surprising that my reception is the not best. After receiving the product, the first thing it had me do was to try to “measure” by reception by switching from the “antenna bars” display to a numerical dBm reading. The Decibel measurement helps to quantify the signal strength you are receiving – and of course you want to take before and after readings from various locations in your home.
Initial setup was easy enough – place the Outside Antenna unit near or in a window (I used the two sided tape to stick mine to the upper portion of a double hung window) and connect it via the supplied cable to the Booster unit. Then connect the internal antenna to the Booster unit and place as far away as possible yet facing in the same direction as the booster unit. Plug it in and BOOM – better signal!!?
In my case – the answer appears to be Yes, I have better signal. According to the chart in the weboost manual, the lower the decibels the better the reception. Without the weboost device, most of my in-home locations were scoring -110 to -118 dBm which is considered poor. After installing the weboost device, the signal generally improved to the good range scoring -95 to -108dBm.
I’ve been using the product about a week now, and can say I haven’t noticed as many static-ridden calls or dropped calls as I’ve had in the past – so I’m bullish on the product thus far!
In the next few weeks I’ll be playing around with the location and configuration to see if I can get in the upper end of the Good range or perhaps even to Excellent!
Give it a try and see if it helps – it can’t make it any worse that you already have, right?

Our family uses both AT&T and T-mobile and both of the carriers have had poor signal coverage for LTE. We receive only 1 bar and mostly rely on wifi calling at home.
I was really hoping that the Weboost would provide a better coverage and to my surprise it did. Initially it was a struggle to find an appropriate place for this and after some research I found that the best place is to keep it closest to the largest window in the house and the antenna facing inwards. The other antenna can be places hig up on the wall.
We are extremely pleased with this device as it provides really good boost of the weak provider signals for both the carriers. We have been using this for almost 3 weeks now and the signal in the house is usually around 4 to 5 bars and the call quality has been reliable. Also we have noticed significant improvement in LTE data speeds.
The box did seem a little big and I was worried it was going to be an eyesore, however it blended just fine. The box comes with everything you need and is easy to setup.
This is a must have device if you have poor provider signals in your house.

I live in an area where Sprint's data and voice signal quality is categorized as "fair," according to the manual of this product. Although this weBoost unit didn't blow my mind away with its improvements, it did bring about a decent boost to signal reception and data speeds in a couple known problem areas.
I get the best signal outside the house at my front porch, where the signal strength is -105 dBm with Speedtest speeds of ~15.5 Mbps DL and ~2 Mbps UL. This is on LTE Band 25 (1900). My Galaxy S7 Edge doesn't pick up Sprint's faster Band 41 (2500) from my house. Besides, this weBoost unit doesn't support signal boost coverage for Band 41 anyways.
I experience the worst signal quality inside my bathroom with a reading of -118 dBm. Second worst area is my bedroom with a reading of -114 dBm. Inside my bedroom, my average DL speed is ~13 Mbps and ~1.5 Mbps UL.
After installing the weBoost unit, the signal reading from inside my bathroom improved from -118 dBm to -109 dBm~! For my bedroom, it improved from -114 dBm to -110 dBm. My Speedtest speeds inside my bedroom still aren't as fast as my front porch area but the speeds have improved to ~14 Mbps DL and ~2 Mbps UL.
These aren't super fantastic gains but gains nonetheless.
As for voice calls, the number of bars being reported inside my bedroom went up from 1 bar to 2 bars. Not bad.
I think the weBoost is a neat little device that does really work but it would be more compelling if the price was lower.
With that said, I recommend it for those who experience inconsistent voice & data receptions.

Works great in my house

I live in a 2-floor house I get poor to fair signal throughout the house, signal strength ranges from two to three bar. My house is an Energy efficient home which has thick strong insulation and specialized windows, which weakens the strength of my cell phone with the tower. I got the weBoost to improve the signal.
The device is nicely packaged and simple to setup. The most time-consuming step was finding the window that has the best signal from the carrier. I had to try different rooms and windows to find the best signal. I used the external antenna that can be placed on the outside of the window with the best signal, between the screen and the window. This step is optional but I recommend it if possible. The wire for this antenna is flat to allow the window to close. After setting this antenna on your window, it gets connected to the a receiver device. Then connect receiver with the provided cable to the inside antenna. Make sure that the direction of these device are placed as instructed, if not, it will not work well.
Test: I first tried the room where the indoor antenna was located. It boosted the signal strength from 3 bars to full bars. The rooms next to this room also received a boost as well. I next tried the rooms on the first floor. The room underneath, the living room, has a signal strength from 2 bars to 4 bars, doubling the strength. The other rooms also receive some boost.
All the rooms in my house are close together, which is why I receive a boost in all rooms. If a house the rooms are spread out, you might get a different result. In my first attempt to setup the device, I received a great amount of boost. If it doesn’t work quite well, you might have to try other places.
I have included a few snapshots of my cell phone showing the signal strength/bars before and after the weBoost.

A good way to improve signal for cellular not data

This is a device that will help improve your phone reception and data speeds, but do not expect a miracle. It will help boost your signal strength, but do not expect that it will give your phone rocket speed for data or crystal clear reception. You would have to move a cell tower to your back yard for this too happen. The quality of your phone and the types of cellular radios they use will also affect your data speeds and voice clarity along with what network you are on and how far you are from that cell tower.
The best benefits I saw was that my reception improved from 112 dBm to 102 dBm. Web pages on my iPhone 7 plus loaded a little faster but the best improvement I had was when talking on my phone. I called a few people on both land lines and cell phones and they said that my voice sounded clearer than usual.
I liked how I only had to have about 6 feet between the receiver and the transmitter which helps if you are in a tight space. I highly recommend that you watch the video instructions for proper set up of the weBoost.
Other tips are to install an app like open signal to help you find where your provider's cell towers are. The weBoost will definitely work better if it is facing towards a cell tower.

While I thought this product would work in our house - it may have, however it is just too big and cumbersome for us. There are 2 large units that need to be placed on window ledges with cables attached to them. One being a 25' cable! Just too cumbersome for our taste. I don't have tons of living space and these units are an eye sore that I just don't want to have to look at. I could have placed them in another location that wasn't as open, but the signals were not very strong there. After reading some of the other reviews on this product, it seems as thought it is a very good product for some, it just isn't going to work for me aesthetically. For now, I will live with a mediocre signal while inside the house.
If these units could be made much smaller and be available as wireless, I would consider trying again.

Thank you for writing a review. We are very sorry to see that your experience was not better, and want to help improve your opinion. We utilize cabling on our systems to help signal travel through cabling, rather than through walls, floors, etc. This helps allow signal to bypass what generally makes signal impossible to capture. This is especially true for metal or concrete walls- as long as there is enough signal to boost. We would like to work with you directly to see if we can find a solution that best fits your needs. A rather expensive device - and if it were only for myself, I'd consider switching carriers since another cellphone carrier provides better service in the area.
For my particular application, I had to put the carrier antenna outside of the building, running the flat part of the cable through the door. Attaching the antenna to the window wasn't effective.
It DID improve coverage enough to allow me to use by cell phone & data plan (at a slow speed - shades of 56Kbps modems!) It also improved my friend's cell phone coverage (a different carrier) to almost normal service.
But I still experienced service drops - but only about 5% of the time (instead of 99% of the time.)
The components include a wall-wart power supply, a short and long co-ax cable, an carrier antenna, a room antenna, and a base unit. The base unit and the room antenna are rather large and oddly shaped, making them difficult to place.

I had little or no reception before. Now I get 1-2 bars in the room where the extended unit is placed. At least now I can have a conversation. I am a little disappointed that I can't leave the room and keep my connection. I am keeping the unit for the fact that some service is still better than none.

Thank you for your review! I'm sorry that it's taken a while for us to respond! However, we would like to offer a hand of help, if anything at this point to help you keep your connection secure with continuous signal inside your home. It's great that the booster is able to help you have conversations where you weren't able to before, but I am sorry that you cannot travel outside of the range of the room. Typically when this happens because the amplifier does not have enough signal where the booster is oriented or that the antennas are too close with this particular model. When the antennas are too close is indicated by a red and green blinking light that only appears when resetting the booster unit. You may also have to place the unit in a different window where there could be more signal if that wasn't done. Using an external antenna might be an option if that's possible since the higher the antenna would be, typically the antenna can receive better signal, thus making your coverage area larger as well. These are only things that may be the issue, however since the booster is working properly with a low coverage, I suspect that it's mostly going to be the signal that's in the window where the antennas is placed. We are happy to help as much as we can. Please give us a call at 866-294-1660 or contact our online support at: [email protected] if you have any other questions to address. Thank you again!

Maybe it's just me, but i had never heard of someone needing a cell phone booster before. Isn't that what wifi is for? I know a cell signal and wifi signal are 2 different things entirely, but if you have a wifi signal, why would you need a cell boost signal? Turns out, there is a certain market that does have needs for a cell signal booster. Think any type of company that does not have wifi, but wants to boost basic cell coverage in areas that have slim to no cell signal. This will help.
I set it up in my apartment. Installation is quick and easy. I did some research on other weboost products, and the general consensus is this 4g product is the easiest so far for setup. So that's a plus! I set it up in both the front of my apartment, and back, and noticed that the front gave me better cell signal. went from 2 bars to full. Back of my apartment only gave me 1 additional bar.
The bad thing about this is the size. It is quite an eyesore and large. Not something you can just casually place in a window. The design element of this definitely needs some improvement for future models.
Also, the cost. Really, for the price it does not have a huge range and only slightly increases your cell signal range. Maybe its just my location, but other reviewers also tend to notice the same issue.
I would not recommend this product.

Great product increased 4G/ LTE reception in home tremendously. Not able to get hi-speed internet on landline so this product was a great fix for increasing reliability of streaming videos. Probably used over 100 GB of internet over it already and it definitely worth the nearly $400 price tag.
