While it is true that Apple devices would be less susceptible to malware than computers using other operating systems, this is due to there being more malware in general written for the latter. As time passes, more and more malware programs will be written for Macs, so that comparative safety will not last forever. Having Webroot will keep you prepared for new malware as it is created.
As for slowing your computer down, our software is designed to run lightly and efficiently on your machine - including on Macs. If it does begin to cause problems with efficiency, that would be an issue that the support staff could take care of quickly at no extra cost.

I did not find it useful since Apple products tend NOT to get viruses. It also interfered with the smooth functioning of my Mac, and I eventually deleted it.

It won't let me enter the product key more than once, and when I try to get it set up on my phone and iPad Air 2 it gives me an error. Good thing it was free because I wouldn't pay anything for it unless it worked the way it says it does.
