Apple Products already come with excellent virus protection, therefore I never used this free trial product. I didn't want constant notifications to try to make me buy something later.

This is partially true.
All antivirus companies offer a subscription model. Once the free trial is over, you do need to purchase the full version.
Webroot has nothing to do with "not letting you online" once it is expired. Though it is advisable to not be online without an active AV product.

But I would say I am quite happy with Webroot from among the many choices.. It really protects the computer from the nasty viruses that are out there!!

This is relatively inexpensive and I've not had any problems since. Also, I've noticed no slow down with my internet. This is a great product.
