Customers are saying
Customers enjoy the 3-Way Light Switch for its ease of use, straightforward installation, and seamless compatibility with Apple HomeKit. The design is considered sleek and modern, and the app functionality is reliable. However, some customers have noted that the switch is a little bulky and requires a neutral wire, which may not be compatible with older wiring.

Works amazing but challenging set up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am all about how things look aesthetically and how well a product works while looking good! With all of the new smart home tech coming out, I have fun just looking at the box! Having a few weeks worth of use, here are my thoughts. Pros: Installation - This is where I had the most challenges that I was able to overcome. I will say that I am a novice and have really BASIC understanding of electricity set ups. After opening up the box and looking at the instructions, my heart just sank due to complexity because I didn't know what 3-way or single-pole meant. I required my dad (a retired electrical engineer) to help me understand the installation process. Once he walked me on basic installations I finally understood the instructions. The instructions ARE VERY EASY to follow and they provide step-by-step descriptions of what to do. Please remember to know which switches are on your circuit breaker in the house before installing. Set-up - Pretty self-explanatory once you download the app. I had no issues connecting it to my home WiFi and connecting it to my Echo and Google Home devices. Integrating both of those was straight forward and didn't take too long. Appearance - This looks amazing on the wall. My home has that nice minimalist look, almost futuristic now. The wemo looks as if it was built with the house and makes really smart and pleasing device. Manual touch - If you are having wifi issues, you still can refer back to manually pressing the light switch. Small things like that go a long way for me. Cons: Only 2 in this pack. I would have liked multiple devices to install because I was left thinking which areas in my home would be best places. Overall, this is a really solid and great looking device. My kids are enjoying this and are able to turn on/off lights from the comforts of the room. Once you get past the physical installation, the app set up was pretty easy. Great product!

Great switch if you understand your house's wiring
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, this switch is a breeze to install. It came with all the required wire nuts, screws, and plates. The instructions are step by step with photos for using this as a three way switch or a two way switch. However, this is where potential issues may arise. Not every house is wired the same and all smart switches require some power all the time to run. In some setups, you may be attempting to put a switch where you will not be able to have all the time power, which will make you rethink your placement choice. I'm sure in the future they'll get smarter and have a small battery like newer smart thermostats do, which charge when power is available to keep things flowing, but things are not there yet. As noted on the package, you only need one switch per circuit, but you can have two working together without issue. The switch and app are smart enough to show you when the light is on, no matter which switches may be flipped in the configuration. Connecting to WiFi was also a breeze, but it should be noted that the Works with Nest program ended in August 2019. It's now the Works with Google Assistant program, which does mean a few extra steps if you're hoping to tie this in with a Nest thermostat. Alexa and IFTTT are also supported. A few notes if you install this yourself: If you go for a different plate than what is provided, buy the larger ones. You'll need that extra lip to get over the switch. They do provide one sticker to mark your hot wire, but if you install these on separate circuits, you'll need to mark that wire with something else. The guide has the QR scan codes for the switches, but the app did not require them to set them up. The QR codes are also on the back of the switch body, and the number is printed on the switch front (though hidden under the plate when installed)

Clap on...for your Voice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoy all things "Smart". I have several home assistants in various rooms of the house, and although those smart home assistants are good on their own, when you start adding compatible smart devices, that is when the magic really starts happening. These Wemo 3 way smart switches are an excellent addition to any smart home. Imagine walking into your home with a handful of groceries and need to turn on the lights to see the stairs. "Turn on the lights" And Boom! Magic! Lights are on and you didn't drop a single item. Or let's say you are going on vacation and you want to give the appearance that someone is still in the home. You can schedule the lights to turn on and off at certain times. Internet not working? Unfortunate, but not the end of the world. These will still work like a regular switch when called upon. My favorite part of this 3 way switch kit? You only need one switch per circuit! That means with this kit you can make two different circuits smart. If you have ever replaced an outlet or switch, you can add these smart switches. Just label your wires and pay attention where they came from. Obviously, turn off power at the breaker for the circuit you are working on before hand. But if you are uncomfortable with electrical work, call your local reputable handyman and they will have it installed in a jiffy. The app itself makes programming pretty easy when it is working. I already had the WEMO app from smart plugs that I own, but whenever I tried to program the new switches, the app kept going haywire during the connecting to internet stage. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but no luck. I had to wait for an update for programming to work, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. But the switch is up and running now and works flawlessly. Ultimately, these switches will make your life easier, home safer, and look good doing it.

Works but wifi is difficult
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The light would not connect to wifi. The fact that it’s preferred to be with Apple home pod makes it difficult, especially since I have an iPhone. The app recognizes the Apple device and expect a home pod app, when I would prefer to use wifi and use amazon or google home.

Don’t waste your money
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The app never works properly. The switches are always disconnecting. And this is for all Wemo products. I tried to give them another chance but once again disappointed. Just Buy the Kasa ones. I’ve had zero issues with them and they are half the price.

I wish I can return them
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got 4 of these and I wish I can return them. They do not stay connected to the wifi (my wifi is not the problem), many times start blinking red, and even when they seem to be connected, they ignore requests to turn on/off. Sometimes randomly turn themselves on/off. I was hoping firmware updates will fix the issues, but no luck. Did some searching online and looks like others have experienced the same issues. Unfortunately by the time I realized there is no solution, I couldn't return them. Do not buy - look for a different product.

Simple, easy install, work as described
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second set of Wemo switches, but our first of the updated version that works with Nest/Siri/Alexa etc etc etc. I knew right away that as long as they worked as well as those 1st Gen models did I'd be happy, anything after that would be a perk. Install is a breeze, follow the instructions and you're fine. Takes 5-10 minutes tops, even for a novice. Don't let installation on something like this deter you from purchasing them, they really are extremely easy to install. Setup took slightly longer than I remember the 1st Gen models taking, but I'm going to chalk that up to the fact these have a lot more going on as far as what they connect to, are capable of, so on and so forth...so again, they likely required a little more install time. This was nothing extreme; I didn't need to leave them overnight, or even for a few hours. It was about ~15 minutes after installing them before they were operational. (whereas with the 1st Gen they were ready to go in about 90 seconds) Aside from that, they're light switches. They turn them on and off. And they work as described; they're smart, you can program them, set them to timers, talk to whatever connected devices you have throughout your home to turn them on/off, etc etc. On top of all that, they're very subtle in design so they likely won't clash with whatever design language you have going on in your home. Very clean and simple with a touch of modern. Easy recommendation for yet another awesome product from Wemo.

Great option for smart homes
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These WeMo light switches are great additions for smart homes. They are very easy to set up and use for anyone who has a little knowledge of how to wire and connect them via your smart device. They are compatible for both single and triple pole switches. I used the dual pack to add options for automatic lighting for my outdoor patio areas by using the smart phone application features to set rules for when they turn on and off when it gets dark. It's also a great feature if you have smart speakers in your house to operate them however it would have been nice if the voice activation was integrated into the switches themselves. You just need to link your free Wemo account to your smart speaker's skills. Although these switches are not the models with the touch panel dimmer, they still serve a good purpose for lights that you may not need dimming for and at this price point are a great option. The Wemo application is very simple to use and has other great features such as vacation modes to where you can set the lights they are connected to to randomly turn on/off.

Pain in the...switch
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First set up took over half an hour with the app. The app just kept failing to see the switch and I had to repeat the steps. It finally found the switch and allowed set up to continue. Here is the best part, All Wemo/Belkin switches, plugs at my house constantly lost connection to the app with no change in my network setting. Think about spending hours trying to reconnect them on the app. I have other smart devices from other companies and they work great. Do not buy Wemo/Belkin switches no matter how cheap they are.

Every Modern Home Needs These Wemo Switches!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used many Wemo products in the past because they always managed to exceed my expectations. I have come to associate their products with quality, and reliability. They just work. Does this 2 pack of Wemo 3 way light switches continue the trend? Absolutely. I already had a few Wemo switches throughout my house. I have enjoyed them so much I am continuing to replace all of the switches in my house with these. The are very convenient. I had an electrician friend of mine do the installation on these. I cannot attest to the difficulty of the install myself, but my friend says that it was very simple. Just like the switches I had bought previously these are high quality, and work exactly as I expected them to. Control through the app is a breeze, and very welcome when I am away from the house. I was also able to connect it to my Echo Show, and I can control my lights with my voice using Alexa. Fantastic. Overall I would definitely give this a five star review, and fully recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade. You will wish you had done it sooner!

Easy to setup and use. Does it's job!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first experience with a smart light switch. I was pretty impressed with how easy everything was to install and get running. When our budget allows it, I'll probably slowly buy more to handle more rooms in our house. Installation was pretty easy. We just bought our first house last year and I ended up replacing all of the outlets and switches in the house, including some 3-way switches, so the electronics wasn't foreign to me. I still ended up connecting this switch wrong just because the other switch I removed wasn't labeled super well so I just mixed up 2 of the wires. It was definitely my fault. It honestly took me longer to figure out which switch in the breaker box turned off the lights than it did to finish installing (if you ignore the first wiring mistake I made). The included instructions are pretty good at talking you through it. Oddly, the instruction book comes with a single sticker to label your line/load wire... but the pack contained 2 switches so I was a little baffled about that. If you aren't comfortable messing with electronics, you can probably hire someone to install these on the cheap as they won't take any time at all. Then there's the setup. Setup was even faster than the already quick install. I installed the WeMo app on my phone and the first thing that popped up was "Add new device". No registration I had to sit through. No tutorial popups. Nothing. The app opened for the first time and it offered to setup a new device. I can't speak enough about how refreshing that was since every single app for every single device wants you to create an account immediately now a days. After I selected the option to add my new device, I was instructed to connect to my local wifi and hit continue to search for the switch. It told me at that point that the switch will use a 2.4Ghz band but I kind of ignored it, thinking I could just select a wifi network when the time came. This isn't the case. My first setup failed because my phone was connected to a 5Ghz network. I reconnected to my 2.4Ghz network and did the setup again and it worked right away. Gave the app access to HomeKit and it set that up for me as well. That was it. Physical operation of the switch is probably the only thing I'd speak a little poorly about. It will probably be easy enough to get used to but obviously something you need to "get used to" isn't necessarily the best thing in the world. The switch can be physically activated by pressing the bottom half (where the light is) in. This hasn't proved to be 100% of the time, though. It seems if you press too quickly, you USUALLY won't activate the light. And if you press and hold for a half second you'll USUALLY activate the light. The usually's are important because it feels like it's about 90% of the time. So you need to get used to pressing and holding the button for just a really breif time. Barely consider it a hold. But if you just tap it really quick, there's a good chance it won't do anything. That said, digital operation seems pretty good. The app turns the lights on and off pretty consistently. There's a very short delay sometimes. Less than a second. But the only thing you can't really do is a rapid fire on and off thing. This won't work on the physical switch or from the app. Not really something people need when looking for a light switch. The WeMo app offers the ability to setup "rules" so you can turn your lights on and off based on various conditions you set. For some reason, whenever I go to the rules tab of the app, it takes an incredibly long time to load, though. Like a couple of minutes. The things you can create rules for are setting up a schedule, long pressing the actual switch, auto-off timer or setting up an "away mode". I'd like to say more but this is the one part of the WeMo app that was so frustrating I stopped exploring it. Literally every time you tap into a rule and then tap the back button, you need to wait for 2 or 3 minutes for it to finish "refreshing rules". I'm probably going to stick with Apple HomeKit for my automation needs. The WeMo app even warns you about unpredictable outcomes if you create rules in both Apple Home and WeMo so keep it in one place. So that's about it. That feels like an incredibly long review for a light switch. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm going to install the second switch when I have some time and I'll probably look into buying more of these in the future. I would recommend them to anyone who's looking for a pretty simple smart switch that will connect with their Apple Home or their Google... whatever Google's thing is called.

Works great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t know who designed my house but the light switch for the basement is in the back of the basement so I have to walk through the dark to get to the switch. BUT, not anymore. I have this connected to Alexa, on my way to the basement I tell her to turn the lights on and no more blindly tripping over or stepping on the dog or toys to get to the switch. You do need a basic knowledge of how to change a switch, but it really is pretty basic. Turn off the breaker! When done, it easily connects to the Wemo app and just follow the directions. Super easy. No connectivity issues so far. They also look sleek too. Much better than my old knobby switched. Very happy

Easy installation and setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation: Let me begin by saying that the wiring in our home was recently updated by a meticulous professional electrician. Consequently, the wiring diagrams in the Wemo installation guide were spot on and very easy to follow. I installed the switch in under 15min and it works perfectly. I can attest from installing a previous Wemo switch (before my home rewiring), this is not always the case. If you have any doubts about the wiring in your switchbox (even if it works), call a licensed electrician to help with the installation. The 3-way Wemo light switch can be used on a single-pole or 3-way circuit. If you are installing on a 3-way circuit, you only need to install the Wemo smart switch at one of the two switch locations. I replaced a single-pole switch that operates a strip under-counter LED lights. The Wemo app was already installed on my phone and adding the new switch was incredibly easy using the QR code in the installation guide. If you have purchased a 2-pack of switches, there will be two QR codes in the guide. Be sure to select the QR code that matches the one on the back of the switch you are adding. If you have already installed the switch, there is a corresponding serial number at the front of the switch (under the switch plate). You can use this number to pick the correct QR code in the user’s guide. Immediately after installation, the WeMo app alerted me that a firmware update was needed for my new switch. After selecting the update option, the switch was back online in 5-10 minutes without any additional intervention. Functionality: We are using the new WeMo switch to allow us use the under-counter lights as a nightlight. The Wemo app is vastly improved since its introduction over two years ago. You can choose specific times for the light to go on and off or (with location information) you can schedule lights to come on and go off within a selection offsets from sunset and sunrise. A random offset has not been implemented in the software (my only complaint on the app functionality). The Wemo switches can be linked with certain smart-home networks, but do not require a hub of their own. As a consequence, each switch will occupy a 2.4GHz slot on your home WiFi network. This could be an issue if your home WiFi network has a limit to the number of simultaneously connected wireless devices.

Easy to install and works as advertised
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got a few of these because my kids can't figure out that lights don't turn themselves off and I am tired of yelling at them to go back upstairs and turn them off. I installed one in my kids bathroom which is the furthest room upstairs so I wanted to be able to turn them off without going back upstairs every time! Planning to put the other one in their hallway since they can't seem to remember to turn those ones off either. Installation was pretty straightforward and the instructions were easy enough to follow as long as you have the necessary wiring. My house is only about 6 years old so all the wiring is new and aside from the fight to get everything to fit in the gang box it was pretty easy. Overall installation took about 20 mins to remove the old light switch and install the new one then configure via the Wemo app. Once powered on and done booting up it was pretty easy to download and setup the switch via the app. I then went into Google Home and was able to quickly link it via the Wemo app and then went into my Alexa app and linked it to the Wemo app as well. Now I can tell any of my Google Home Devices or Amazon Echo devices to turn the lights off whenever they come downstairs and they left the lights on. Overall very happy with how they work and how easy they were to install and setup. I will definitely be getting more to put in other rooms that either my kids or wife can't remember to turn lights off!!!

A Great Addition For Your Smart Home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had originally picked these up to use as a three-way switch in our basement. When it came time to install them, I didn't have the correct wiring in place so I opted to install them to control an outdoor light. I have to commend Wemo on putting together the BEST instructions I've ever seen for any electrical component. They were extremely detailed and covered most installation scenarios. Setup was easy. The only issue I had is I initially had my phone connected to my 5GHz wireless network during setup. The Wemo utilizes 2.4GHz and takes the connection information from your phone during setup. Even after switching over to 2.4GHz, I was still getting errors. I tried killing the app, "rebooting" the switch, etc. The only thing that fixed it was restarting my phone. Once I did that, setup was a breeze. The feel of the switch is very nice, as it should be for the price. Some light switches have a flimsy feeling, but the Wemo feels solid. The only complaint and this isn't just a ding on Wemo, but standard switch boxes are pretty small. A typical 3-way switch requires 4 wires that generally connect to the switch with screw terminals. The Wemo requires 5 and they all use wire nuts to secure them. This takes up a lot more space in the box and can make installation difficult. I'm in the middle of a remodel, so I'll be installing a deep box to accommodate the additional wiring.
