    Worst TV and frustrating

    |
    Posted .

I've only had this t.v for ten months, I did not buy a warranty because I've never had a problem with any other TV I've had from any brand. I'll turn the TV on and I can see the screen but shortly after it will turn completely back. Sound still works, blue power light for the tv is still on, but a black screen. I put two pictures below, one in the dark to show the backlight is still on. Sometimes the screen will come back but most of the time I have to turn the t.v. off then back on. Sometimes I have to do this twenty times until it will finally stop and it's very frustrating. My tv still has the plastic around the edges and no scratches, pretty much perfect condition, but it seemed like it was built to fail. I wish I could just exchange it and pay the difference for a name brand t.v. but Best Buy won't let me so I'll never buy from them again or this brand. Don't waste your money on this.

I am enjoying my tv and I gave a rating of 4 stars. I love the picture and the sound quality. I would have gave a 5 stars if the loading/turn on time was shorter

For the price is a good tv. I just have one thing I don't like it: sometimes when I turned off and I turned on I must connect to internet again

    Don't buy it!

When we first got the tv it worked well, had a great picture. In less than 20 days the picture or screen decided to get both horizontal and vertical lines and the screen was split in half. Due to the fact that I did not get the extended warranty Best Buy would not exchange it [past the 15 day window which I was 7 day past]. So I had to contact Westinghouse directly and that was seven days ago and I gave them all necessary information required and they replied by email that would be in contact shortly? They have yet to respond, NOT HAPPY!

All HDMI ports went in 7 months

    Posted .

I live by myself and am hardly home to watch television. I bought this television because I was low budget at the time of my separation. There was no abuse to the television and surge protectors were used on all attached equipment. One by one the hdmi ports went. One day apart for each. Had the two year warranty, but was forced to use the manufacturer warranty. Still no repaired or replaced television after one month of claim. I knew it when I bought I was heading for trouble. Don't let the price fool you as it did me. Not a quality backed television.

Best value. Excellent TV. Note quirks for gaming

    |
    Posted .

First of all, I got this TV for $250 on Thanksgiving, so this is a 5-star value for sure. The picture is excellent and Picture Mode presets are actually good. INPUT LAG FOR GAMING can, I repeat, CAN, be resolved by simply setting the Picture Mode to "Game". Here is the quirk - you cannot make adjustments in the picture menu after this. Any adjustments will cause the picture mode to change to "User" and will automatically remove the input/performance benefits of Game mode. Once you set game mode, leave it alone and there will be no input lag. PICTURE QUALITY - Did I say excellent yet? The picture is great, just as good as other televisions at higher prices. The only difference is (and why this TV is able to be cheaper) is that there are fewer adjustments that can be made. The only available adjustments are Bright/Contrast/Sharp/Tint/Color/Temperature and White Balance and Color Space. Motion Interpolation (MEMC, aka MotionPlus, aka TruMotion) - Yes, this TV has this feature, but it has it in two places, and it may actually have the nicest implementation of it I have yet experienced. There is a dedicated MEMC option (off/low/medium/high), but it seems that there's also a minor implementation built in to the Sharpness menu. This was hard to figure out at first, but I believe I'm right. I hate enhanced motion personally, so I almost always want it off. I turned off MEMC, but still noticed substantial motion smoothing. Finally figured out that it appears that the higher the sharpness setting, the higher the amount of motion smoothing, even with MEMC turned off. So now I leave Sharpness down to default or a bit lower, and I found that it is just right to leave natural motion for most cases, but some smoothing periodically. I know this sounds unlikely, but I swear that is the case. Either way, I have MEMC turned off and default sharpness (previously I kept manually adjusting it up to perfect the picture, but then I kept getting a stronger smoothing effect). I do recommend this TV. It is cheaper because it lacks certain pro tuning features for picture, but the default modes work very well. Also, the AC plug is not removable, and the bezel and overall construction seem basic, but the trade-off for price is well worth it.

    INCREDIBLY FANTASTIC PICTURE QUALITY

    Posted .

Most important, this is my 3rd 4K TV I have purchased in the past 9 months. Both other 4k's I own I spent $200 more and $900 more. This Westinghouse is the best TV I have ever had. It up-scales 1080p blurays to look 90% as good as a 4k disc. My 2 other 4k's don't do nearly as good. Everything picture wise is AMAZING. Cable TV, DVD's, Blu Rays and Streaming. Streamed a 1080p movie on it and I would have sworn it was a 4K disc. There are complaints on the sound and rightfully so. But I will now buy a nice quality soundbar and attach it and have the picture quality of a higher cost 4k TV. Honestly, this Westinghouse 4k has blown me away. I have spent 5 times more on a TV in the past that wasn't nearly as beautiful a picture. One of my neighbors with a more expensive 4K TV is buying one now that he saw mine. Get it...I promise you'll love it.

Color is great, remote is easy to use,TV is lightweight, doesn't get hot like other brands, sound is great, and like that they have manual controls on the TV when many brands don't - for times remote may not work or gets damaged

Great Deal for a High-End TV

    |
    Posted .

I got this TV as a Black Friday deal for $250 online. I was a little skeptical because the brand, and this was replacing my 40" 1080p Samsung TV that I spent about $800 5 years ago. After mounting on my wall I was amazed; the picture was incredible especially coming from a TV that I only spent $250 on. I watched a 4K action movie on Netflix which had even better picture being in UHD 4K, but there is a tiny bit of motion lag which you can barely even tell. Playing Call of Duty also surprised me. I was worried about the TV being 60hz for games, but I noticed no difference from the Samsung. If you're worried about this TV, don't be. It is a great deal for great performance. If you're going for Super Ultra High Def, then maybe you want to spend 4x the money on a Samsung. For me, this works for me with my Netflix and Video Games. As for the sound, I use a surround sound system, so I cannot really say, however, when watching a movie on Netflix (through the smart app), the sound was decent. Not grainy or horrible, it sounded like any other TV in my house. If you don't like it, then you can always buy a $70 sound bar.

Great picture, but motion blur is a little jarring

    |
    Posted .

I've purchased a 40" Westinghouse in 2013 and loved it. It was time to upgrade and I couldn't beat the deal on Black Friday for this 50" 4K TV. First off the picture quality is amazing. Very rich detail and it was instantly noticeable from 1080p, but I can see that some people (my wife) did not recognize the increase in clarity. The thing that is making me return this TV is the 60 Hz and Soap Opera effect. Its jarring to me and honestly gives me a bit of a headache. My wife notices it but it doesn't bother her as much. So I really think its just preference at this point. I tried to turn off the MEMC motion blurring, and tried lowering the sharpness as I've seen that has helped some others. None of that really helped and you start to close some clarity. One other drawback was playing Xbox. There was a very noticeable and frustrating lag.I know I have 4K compatible monster HDMI cables so that is not a reason. I had to mess with a decent amount of controller sensitivity setting to try and correct. I tried what I've seen online to correct but I did not help. Overall, if you are watching live TV like sporting events then this is a fantastic TV for you. It was stunning to watch football and the NBA on this the other day. Great for a sports den. If you do not care about motion blur, then get this TV. Great deal but just has a few drawbacks.

Great 4K TV for the price!

    |
    Posted .

I had misgivings about getting a Westinghouse TV, but I've been very pleased with my new 4K TV. It's not a high-end TV and doesn't perform like one, so if you want a very nice 4K TV, don't get this. But if you want a decent 4K display for a low price, this one is hard to beat. The update rate is a little slow and sometimes makes video seem "like a home video" but after awhile, you get used to it. It plays Netflix in 4K from a Roku beautifully. It also works great for hooking to a MacBook pro for hi-rez work or gaming, although slow update rate might be an issue. It works fine for World of Warcraft. The audio is not great, however, but it works. I have a LONG wifi code on my local network and the Westinghouse settings wouldn't let me set it up for the smart-TV features because it didn't allow for enough characters, but I use a Roku instead of the limited built-in smart-tv features, so I don't care.

    Great tv for the price

I bought this TV just after Black Friday originally I purchased the same brand TV that wasn't the 4K model then several days later this 4K mono went on sale for the same price as the first one I bought so I took that one back and exchanged for this and I got to say I'm glad that I did this TV has an amazing picture it's super clear and the colors are very vibrant you do have to play around with the settings to get the best picture out of it though it doesn't come preset for the best picture but after about 10 minutes of playing around with color brightness and a few other settings I was completely happy with the picture it's nice that the TV has Wi-Fi even though I don't use that feature or the included apps also a lot of reviews I read said this TV is no good for gaming and I just got to say I don't know what those people are talking about I have an Xbox one and PlayStation four hooked up to this TV and they look absolutely amazing there's no lag there's no delay the picture is crisp and sharp and looks absolutely amazing I've also played the Wii you want this TV and the PlayStation 3 with no problems whatsoever if you buy this TV and trying to compare it to a six or $700 samsung or lg then of course you're going to say this is in a great TV but for under $300 you can't go wrong beautiful picture great sound works great for gaming I would definitely buy this again

Lag when it comes to gaming.

    |

But other than that its pretty good TV. Don't expect the smart function of the tv to be like Chromecast or Roku because it comes with its own preloaded apps and no more can be installed on it so the ones on the box are the ones you get.

    Value TV

    |
    Posted .

Purchased this tv for 292 dollars due to a sale and reward points. This is my first Westinghouse product. I'm impressed with the clarity and picture of the tv and haven't noticed the motion blurring that others have mentioned. The Netflix app works great and it was a breeze to connect the tv to wifi. The only strange thing about this tv is that it does take a good 10 seconds to turn on once you hit the power button. There's a definite lag there as mentioned in other reviews. Overall, this TV is a great value to the casual tv watcher. It's a great size and quality for the price. I can't comment on the hardcore gaming situation but it does run a Nintendo 64 beautifully with no glitches.
