I recently upgraded to a 50" smart-TV and after reading reviews on BestBuy.com purchased the Westinghouse for under $300. The TV was easy to set up, good instruction book mapping out everything on TV. Picture is beautiful, sound is excellent (I rarely turn it higher than a "20"). I watched the "Hamilton" musical movie on this TV and I felt like I was back in the theatre, the picture was so clear and showed the actors, set, and lighting to best advantage. I am very please with this purchase and very pleased with the price I paid!

TV has been in use for about 5 weeks now. For its cost ($170 black friday deal), this TV is fantastic. Obviously the TV isn't as good as ones that cost more than 4x as much. If you're considering buying this TV at full list price, you'd probably be better off going with a bargain name-brand model. The backlight is adequate, I still close the blinds for some dark scenes during bright daylight, but most scenes are just fine in direct sunlight on brightest backlight setting. Not a big difference between different backlight strengths, so I just leave it on the brightest even in a dark room. The out of the box image settings are atrocious - took a fair bit of work getting them adjusted given how far off they all were by default, but image quality is good after that. Once you get good settings, take a picture of the numbers- you have to adjust the settings separately for each different input. Speakers aren't any better or worse than built-in speakers in any other TV I've owned. The bezel/frame is a very cheap plastic that will scratch/skuff easily, and is clearly one of the places where they cut costs to offer such a cheap TV. The infrared sensor for the remote is a sizable ugly box crudely affixed near the bottom left. The legs are just little plastic V's that get screwed into the bottom; it works, but is fairly wobbly if touched and I wouldn't recommend having this TV on its legs (as opposed to wall mounting) if you have any children or pets that may bump into it. The remote is another place where they cut costs - it's a tiny cheap remote that fits in the palm of your hand and only has a few buttons based on the roku app's buttons. You must also point the remote exactly at the infrared sensor on the TV, as bad or worse than remotes from 20-30 years ago. Thankfully, as it is a Roku TV, you can simply download the Roku app and use a smartphone as a remote. If you're willing to overlook the cheap frame, legs, and remote, this TV is a perfect buy with solid image that won't be beat at its price point.

When it comes to owning or buying materialistic items and belongings, especially in the 21st century, most people or rather most advertisers flood all of us daily. And though I don't have anything against anyone or anything, but because advertiser's don't want to get hit with a suit for discrimination or for advertising false information and gimmicks that many of their blinded & all so consumed with interest tech savvy customers will pay any amount of $ for whatever reason. Idk if maybe or (whether they be blinded by the brand name or latest technology thats available to the public or not) but they know they have thousands if not millions of consumers waiting, wanting and willing to pay any $ number they choose for the so called next "best" & believein the false quote "guaranteed to last you a lifetime" which btw, (how long is this per se lifetime anyways)? Anyways my point is, while I've been around and have had the opportunity to see in person all the varieties that is out there these days, and with many boredom nights that turned into research (in which i recommend highly for anyone and those specific but not all tech savvy consumers whom are so careful with checking out the price tag let alone the specs). To maybe, idk save some $$$ to buy or try out other tech or food or maybe a book, a few books by impulsively paying for an advertising companies debt to those they speak so highly of... And with that said, though this may be my first brand new out of the box and smart tv purchase, it surpasses my step fathers 2000$ 60'in LG and Samsung tv with the same "tech & specs"... and though not a smart tv, Westinghouse basic 50 in tv is almost as comparable and of high quality as everything else thats new in 2020. My point? Save yourself some money, tv is supposed to be a time to enjoy and relax not a time to scan and nitpick details that are 99% similar. :)

I bought is on Black Friday. At this price point, it wad a great purchase. At 50", the 4K resolution might not affect the picture quality that much but the HDR does. Color is good but not great (picture setting is easy enough). Audio is good to watch the news but not for the movies. Roku user interface is simple yet sufficient. The mute button is on the side of the remote (has pros and cons) It has ARC HDMI. Did not try the wifi connection because I use a Amazon TV 4K TV stick. At regular price? I woulf look for something else.

Excellent TV. I was first worried why a 50inch TV would be so cheap, but don’t be scared, this tv is great. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s only 60hz refresh rate, so it’s not the best on the market by far, but if your looking for a VERY simple to use smart tv, this is the TV for u. The Roku set up was easy, and I love it, the remote is small and easy to use, and the speakers are surprisingly very loud. Have this in our living room, and it’s the perfect size and looks really great. Westinghouse is the way to go!

The shipping was super fast, the price was great, the set up was easy, and the quality is great. I saw reviews about the volume controls on the side of the remote, but it's not an issue and is the same for any Roku remote. We've had the TV for about a month and love how easy it is to switch between streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, DirectTV, etc.) and dvd/blu rays. We've very happy with our purchase and would recommend it to others who are looking for a good TV for a good price.

Nice size with a great picture. Have used Roku for many years. The last Roku we had didn't require the remote to be pointed at the device. This one does (just like a regular tv remote). Would prefer this remote to work the same way (not required to aim it at the device) but that's the only downfall to this unit and I'll get used to it.

Only been in use a few weeks but so far it’s been a great purchase. The built in Roku is a way better system than on other TVs that I’ve owned, including LG. I think the picture is more than acceptable, especially for the price. I’m not one of those people who has to have the latest and greatest (like the people who fell for 3D TV and curved screens) so whether it’s 1080 or 4K is irrelevant to me. Give me a decent picture, enough HDMI ports and reasonable quality for the price and I’m set.

This was a great TV at an affordable price. I wanted one in my office for both entertainment and business purposes. Since it is a smart TV, it will allow me to watch content/tutorials from the internet. We’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, but it’s been great so far. Easy to install, and use. Delivered straight to my front door in perfect condition.

TV broken under 2 years, Best Buy Protection helps

I really loved this TV! I bought it Nov 2020 with a really good deal and bought the 5 year protection plan. I am writing this review Oct 2022 and the LCD screen of the TV is broken and unrepairable. Horizontal lines and flashing LEDs! Luckily I contacted the geek squad 1-800 number and they put in a work order for it to be replaced and gave me the number for the replacement department. They are replacing my TV with one of similar value. Today is Thursday and my new TV is coming on Monday, plus they said that they take the broken one away all in one delivery trip. I still give a good 4 stars because this tv worked really well, the sound was great even at low number it was loud, the picture quality was perfect and all the settings were easily customizable. One star off for the defect in the LCD panel that caused it to break. Short story- buying the 5 year protection plan is always worth it, especially when the tv is already on a deal it felt like I paid nothing for the protection plan. I also bought a 5 year protection plan for the new replacement TV.

Very simple and effective 4K television. The remote is minimalistic but functional. Very easy setup and ROKU feature is easy to use. I am sure televisions at a higher price point would outduel this Westinghouse but, no complaints with this set. The price was very reasonable for the quality and features. ++ Mounting very easy. ++ Clear Picture + Decent Sound, can get VERY loud (I have it set to Vol 4-5 max)

I was very pleased of the quality of this TV. I mainly purchased it for the price, but the picture quality and Roku features made it seem like I took advantage of Best Buy! This is my first Westinghouse TV. I had considered purchasing this brand before but was dissuaded by some reviews. To put it simply, this 50" Westinghouse TV is a very fine set and I'm very happy that I made this purchase and the set up is very easy!

This is a very good value for the price. The integrated Roku makes streaming very simple, especially since I already had a Roku account. Picture quality is very good, but not great. I find the color and brightness a bit less vivid than the 13 year old plasma screen that it is replacing. However it runs much cooler, and provides a picture quality that is very satisfying.
