Open look with plenty of room for VCR, Blue Ray Player, Modem, Router, 4k Box if needed, gaming console, etc. The open look makes it easy to set to back cables, etc, Most important is the entire sides of the stand are metal laminated, and not wood or plastic. Very sturdy. I have 50" TV, but 55" would fit OK. I recommend paying the extra for them to install it.
