I have used this 4 months now. I want to give it 4.5 stars, but I have been able to work around its smaller capacity. And the benefits of meeting our city’s building code to have enough clearance between the microwave & the oven far outweigh the fact that I can’t stand up my 90 second rice packages (see photos) but they cook fine on their side! It has a quick defrost feature (and other defrost settings for casserole, poultry, etc) but it only goes up to 4 minutes at a time for random things that need defrosting. My old microwave I could set it forever and it would beep when I had to turn/stir halfway through. Not a big deal.

Love this microwave. Very high tech and super sleek. The open button is freaking awesome! Buttons are a little smaller and on the inside so gotta get use to that setup. Leaves plenty of space over stove.

I have a small kitchen and this microwave fits perfect over the range. It cooks evenly. Exhaust fan is awesome. I don't have one single complaint about it and enjoying my purchase!

I pulled it out of the box and one of the sides is damaged. The mounting will cover most of it. I’m debating on whether or not to have it replaced. I’m knee deep in the install since I’ve removed the old microwave. I will update after the install is completed

I love that the height gives me more access to my cooktop burners. There is plenty of space inside. The only negative for me is the control panel is on the inside of the door.

It’s fit very nicely up under my stove and it matches. This was a great choice. Very happy with the performance of it.

We just moved into our new house and there was no over the range microwave due to the area being smaller than usual. I did some research and found this microwave and i LOVE IT! Can’t wait to change my stove to match this thing!

I've been waiting for this low profile Over the range microwave for a few years already. They used to make these more often but then every company went the bigger is better way and I was stock with an Whirlpool unit that hung only 15 inches above the stove. Not a good thing if you wanna keep your microwave free from grease and have proper venting while cooking. This 7011 unit is great, low profile that now sits whole 20 inches above the stove. Planty room to pull in the cooking steams and remain clean from oil and grease. The install was a little tricky for me as the cabinet mounting holes required a minimum 12 inches distance away from the back wall but my old cabinets are only 12 inches away so the drilled holes ended up being right next to the end rim of the cabinet and prevented me from easily using the provided washers. I ended up cutting into the cabinet rim to be able to slide the washer into it and aligning the whole with the mounting bolt. In the end its a very strong hold. Another problem with the install was that the none of the wall mounting holes aligned with the studs in the wall and I didnt wanna use the ankers if I didn't have to so I decided not to use any of the pre-drilled mounting holes and drilled 4 holes through the metal mounting bracket directly into the studs, two at the top of the bracket and two at the bottom. In the end much stronger install then using the wall ankers in my opinion. I love this microwave. It looks great giving an updated look to an outdated kitchen, lol, and prevented me from cutting down the cabinets to be able to fit regular size microwave. p.s. Just be ready to do something with the extra space on the back wall that is left under the microwave . Mine left a bare wall so before installing the new unit I had to place some stone tiles where the regular tiles were missing, just an extra time spent but make sure to plan for that when replacing a larger unit with this one. I purchase this microwave for about two weeks ago. The microwave looks great in my kitchen. It fit in my kitchen very well for the little cabinet space we had. It’s easy to clean. The instructions were a little difficult to understand. My husband was able to get the microwave install in a day, with a little help of YouTube. I wish the display would show the microwaves functions before purchasing the microwave at Best Buy. There are a few things that are negative about the microwave. First of all the light is not very bright. The light is to dim for the two selections on it. If I do not have my kitchen lights on I would not be able to see what I’m cooking. My old hood had a better light. The vent hood does not pull out all the smoke out. I tried it with the carbon filters in and without the carbon filters my house was still full of smoke. The exhaust fan is very loud compared to my old vent hood. I read everyone’s review before I purchased it. The reviews were raving about it but I’m not too happy with it. I wish I went with a different system.

First the bad part. This was ordered in early November with an expected delivery date of 1/3/23 which was ok. We wanted the low profile microwave to replace a microwave that had died. First it was changed to 1/12/23, then to 2/26/23, then 2/27/23, then 3/7/23, then 3/8/23. Finally we found one in stock and picked it up on 3/10/23. Each time we were "guaranteed" it would be there on the promised date. We like the low profile, it gives better visibility to the cooktop below. I like the light and fan so it acts like a range hood as well. It lights up when you open the door and when food is cooking. On the negative side, it is loud for a microwave. Also, the buttons are mostly hidden behind the door which makes it look sleek, but hinders the usability. This means you must punch in the time with the door open, close the door then press start. I'm used to put something in the microwave, close the door then push all the required buttons. Also, this creates a very long door which can get in the way when open. The sensor reheat function is useless. There are many options to setup, but in all cases I've tried it takes way too long. We have a small Panasonic microwave that has sensor reheat. You press one button, then start. It doesn't care what is in the microwave, it figures it out and works much better. We used that function all the time when we had the counter space for it. We don't use it at all on the Whirlpool In the end we would probably buy it again simply due to the low profile. If there were other options in the desired color, we would strongly consider them.

Purchased this microwave because we did not have enough room for a full size microwave under our cabinets above the stove top. We previously had just a hood vent over the stove top and then a countertop microwave. I wanted to free up some countertop space and get rid of our ugly hood vent. This was the perfect solution. This is the best microwave I have owned and is the perfect size! I think its low profile size makes it really nice to look at and it microwaves everything that we need perfectly. I have not had a problem with trying to microwave something that would not fit in here. The microwave was a little expensive but Whirlpool is the only brand I could find with an over-the-range microwave hood combo in this compact size and in stainless steel. I would definitely buy this again and have no regrets.

I have standard kitchen cabinets and a high output gas range so I was concerned that a standard size microwave was going to be too close for comfort above the flames. Plus, I cook a lot and use taller cooking pots and wanted the extra clearance between the top of my range and the bottom of my microwave. I was considering raising the cabinets but did not want to do that if not necessary. I ran across this low profile microwave and have to say I am glad I did. It fits perfectly above my range and the bottom of the microwave is now 22" above the flames (versus the 15" +/- clearance before.) I have all the space I was looking for and more, I am 6' 1" in height and can easily see all the burners on the range without having to bend down to look under the microwave. Plus, have you ever noticed all of the wasted space in a standard microwave? Whirlpool has figured out how to eliminate the wasted space by fitting all of the necessary components in a microwave that is not as tall (measured from bottom to top) as a standard unit. Everything I have ever fit in a standard OTR microwave fits in this one perfectly. Dinner plates, tall and short glassware, etc fit with no problem. I highly recommend this low profile microwave and would buy it again without question.

Clean, modern, and minimalist design. For us this replaced an old standard height (16") over range microwave that was falling apart. This new one is only 10" high and creates more height and visual space above our range. The design minimizes buttons, which might means fewer bells and whistles that we probably wouldn't use anyway, but gives it a cleaner look. You have a few buttons on the door and another small button panel is accessible when you open the door. The difference between this and the model below it (same size) appears to be the upgrade from halogen to LED light inside and over the grill, and a better non-stick interior coating (vs powder coat on the lower model). The LED that shines on the grill is not as bright as I expected even on high, but it is still nice to have. Note that these over-range microwaves are more expensive because they include your exhaust vent blower built in, which is not something other microwaves need to have. Installation was not rocket science but I still hired someone experienced to ensure everything was cut/fit right on my cabinetry and vent hood.

This microwave is off. I bought the same type in Kitchen Aid, thought something was wrong with it, returned it, and bought this. The description of this microwave says it's 1000 watt but my microwave says on it 1800 watts. My microwave cycles on and off like the defrost setting does all the time. I put butter in once for 30 seconds and it was still solid at the end. It doesn't cook microwave popcorn unless it's in a regular store-bought bag, using my own paper bag as I do for my other microwave and every other microwave, it just burns horribly no matter what I do. I'm glad I got it because it was the only one that fit over the range and I have a small kitchen, but I keep my old one in the basement for popcorn. I thought I would have problems fitting things in it since it's short, and maybe I have once, but it's really not an issue.

Love it! Sleek design, easy to install, and operate!

Bought this to replace a much larger 20 year old GE Profile. The low profile is great. It frees up so much space over the range/stove top. It's also sleek, shiny and quiet. The modern chimes and touch screen are really nice. The only downside was the directions are very complicated and took multiple times reading to fully understand. It would have been easier if the instructions said simply use the template to drill holes and securely attach the mounting bracket so it is level front to back and side to side. As it is I didn't see anyplace it said to check level front to back, and since my cabinet has a slight lip on the front the microwave is a little lower in the front than in the back. It doesn't affect use so I'll probably leave it because it is a heavy job lifting it into the space. It fits perfectly and looks great!
