This was the only model that has the switch at the top instead of the. Ottom, which we prefer.

Unfortunately the warranty from manufacturers is 1 year. Mine broke exactly 13 months and 1 week later. Additionally, I tried to get a service person from whirlpool and they won't service in my location. this is an expensive machine to only get a little over a year of use out of. Im extremely disappointed. I Had to wait almost a month to get it in the first place, so technically I think I am within a year of owning it, but they dont care about that, only the purchase date. How it isn't functioning: After compacting, it won't shut off, starting thumping loudly, the whole machine jumps up and down, sounds like it is going to blow up, smells like it is going to combust in flames. sound safe for your family? I think not. ~Yours truly, and extremely disappointed customer. do yourself a favor and go to a local company and spend a little more money on a compactor, it will be worth it. (I just spent $100/month and now have to purchase another)

Bought this to replace my 17 yr old one. There are not a lot to chose from anymore. Didn't want to spend a lot. It works well. Fit in the spot perfectly. A little bit loud but not horrible.

This is a great trash compactor. It also has an on/off button to keep children from pushing it every time they pass.

Good but could be made a little tougher and not as flimsy but other than that it works good.

The compactor does not compact as well as my other one did. I like the appearance cosmetically.

The appliance is top notch and will last forever. The best part are the looks which are streamline. The compactor also does a pretty good job of not over crushing items which is nice.

Purchased this compactor for our newly renovated cabin in the woods! So far has met my expectations! Very easy install with direct plug in. Very quiet too!

Replaced old one of 25 years. Looks great and works fine.

We had this same compactor for 22 years. When the old required replacement we stayed with the same basic product. However, the newer model does not have a robust housing, which makes the entire product seem cheaper and have a tinny sound when opening, closing and compacting.

It’s works good. Not as quiet as my previous KitchenAid but couldn’t get any other for more than 6 months!!!!

This has worked out very well so far. Looks great.

The compactor looks good, controls are easy to operate, and it smashes the trash like it's supposed to but the drawer sticks when opening or closing. Upon close inspection inside you can see where the drawer scrapes the bottom surface of the compactor at the back. I've been told this is a design flaw so I certainly cannot recommend it. The repairman was unable to fix it so back it goes. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.

Trash compactors are expensive, but we really use it. Our last one lasted 35 years, So we hope this one will too

The material is Not sturdy. It feels like a tin . Maybe new x1 products are not very solid

The most inexpensive stainless steel model I could find.

I have had it about 3 weeks & so far I am pleased.

I bought this new Trash Compactor to replace one from the 70's. It works great but I noticed that it is not as well made as the one from the 70's. But nothing really is anymore.

Working fine so far. Easy to use and to empty when full.
