Bought 3 times, each time the product was dented. Maybe if I had an opportunity to install a brand new unblemished product, I would be able to give an opinion on how it actually works.

Purchased in January of 2014. Two years later in February of 2016 it had to be replaced. The one they sent didnt work so they had to send out another one. In May of 2016 it had to be repaired. It is now December of 2016 and I have to contact whirlpool because once again it is not working. Dont buy a microwave with the electronics in the door.

Wish I could write a review on the function of the machine but it arrived damaged. Packing material was intact so it looks like it was damaged before or during boxing. Very disappointed. Waited 5 days for arrival now they want me to wait another 5+ for a replacement. No thanks. I'll buy elsewhere and a different manufacturer.

Have always wanted a convection microwave and this really fits the bill. Not only is it absolutely beautiful but it also has a multiple of useful functions. I'm "still learning" but, so far, this appliance has been a joy.

Great Sensing Feature and Options

An electrical surge took out GE Profile microwave so had to replace it. After looking at many of the latest models, we chose the Whirlpool for it's large 1.9 cu. ft. size and the addition of the convection feature. For a little more money, this turned out to be a really convenient option as it gives us an extra oven for baking, etc. The sensing feature is very nice as well, allowing you to reheat your dinner plate, beverage, casserole, etc. and determining time automatically. It does a very good job of heating, but not overheating. Much better than the "try 30 seconds, try another 30 seconds" method. The only slight negative (for some) is that the door is quite large and swings wide when you open it. This is probably because most microwaves have the control panel to the right of the door handle while this one integrates it into the door itself, allowing the door to span the full width of the unit. Not a big deal, but noticeable if you are upgrading from the more conventional design.

Extremely dissappointed

Bought in October 2014. Died December 2015. The previous Whirlpool microwave this unit replaced was 10 years old and carried a 5 year warranty on the magnetron. Imagine my dismay to find out this unit carried only a 1 year warranty on the magnetron. So 2 months past warranty expiration I'm left with a dead unit. I performed elementary troubleshooting. The unit has a fuse on the 120 Volt input. But the unit must be disassembled to gain access to the fuse. So what SHOULD be a five minute job turned into an hour and a half. The fuse wasn't the problem - replacement fuses blew like popcorn. Fuse placement within the unit without regard for service considerations is a poor design.
To their credit, Whirlpool agreed to cover the cost of repairs if I would pay for labor. I agreed. A tech came out and looked at the unit . He said that he would have to order a bunch of parts and that he would be back in contact by the end of the week. Three weeks went by. There was no call from the tech; my messages on his voicemail generated no response. So a couple of days later I purchased a replacement from a competing manufacturer. No more Whirlpool purchases by me!

So we inherited the house we are living in and the kitchen was recently updated with all whirlpool gold series appliances within a year prior to us moving in. I have a large family and the only appliance left to update was the microwave which was very small. I decided to follow suit with what my in laws had already put in the kitchen and go with the matching whirlpool microwave. Do to having a large family I figured that going with the large convection microwave oven was the proper choice plus it had positive reviews. I ordered the microwave from Best Buy because they did have the best price and all in all I have had good experience with Best Buy. That was until now. I bought this microwave in March 2016 and by August I started having problems with the microwave. It started not recognizing that the door was shut. You would shut the door and press start to heat food and it would display that the door needed to be closed. After I would open and shut the door, it would eventually recognize that the door was shut and work. About 2 weeks ago it finally completely quit working. It showed no power at all, nothing on the display and no lights. I checked and the outlet has power that it is plugged into. So I contacted Best Buy, they quickly found my account and found where I purchased the microwave. Due to it being still under warranty, they transferred my call to Whirlpool and I again had to explain my problem and give them my Microwave information. They advised that they would contact an authorized service tech and they would be contacting me shortly. Approximately 24hrs later a gentleman contacted me and again needed all the microwave identification information. I provided the information and he advised it would be over a week before he could come out to look at the microwave. On the date he was supposed to be here which was today, he called and advised that it would be a couple more days before he could come. I found that his company is a couple hours away. You would think that Whirlpool would have someone closer. It would have been easier if I would have taken the thing down and drove it to Best Buy and returned it, then ordered a new one. I have not been very pleased with any of the Whirlpool products in my kitchen as each one has something that I don't like. The refrigerator has a drawer that broke and I had to glue it. To me it was made a little cheap. The dishwasher takes forever to clean and most of the time I have dishes that has to be rewashed. The oven has a very loud fan that runs at least an hour after you turn it off. I may be a little picky with this review but when you spend thousands of dollars on appliances they should hold up to everyday use without issue for a while. I do believe that the microwave had great features but by having a large cooking area caused the design to put all the buttons on the door which in turn makes it heavy and that is the reason the door started having issues with recognizing the door was shut. When the door is opened you can see it drop down from the latch. There is considerable play in the door hinge, at least a half of an inch play. My question is why Best Buy didn't handle the repair using their advertised Geek Squad. Thought that was what they did. I know they are quick to try and sell you extended service utilizing their Geek Squad. Not happy at all with this purchase and may change my decision to purchase form Best Buy in the future.

Looks OK but hard to get a good one

I had to order this unit 3 times to try to get a good one!!! The first was dented on the back of the case to the point where a screw popped out that I could not find. I let the store manager know and they ordered another one but that one had dents on the door at the top corners. So back to the store for another one... I just received the 3rd one and once again the back was dented at the bottom of the unit. I decided to keep this one and did my best to straighten it out since the dented part is not visible once it's installed. Also this one does not have the package of hardware that is shown to be included so now I have to provide these myself.
The unit appears to be packaged well so I blame the problem on handling. It's a very heavy microwave so I think that once the handler tries to pick it up and realizes how heavy it is they just drop it.
I still have not installed it yet to see how it performs but will update my review based on that. Still it will not be more than a 3 at the most. It either needs more durable packing material or special instructions on handling the package. And the hardware...

Doesn't Heat / Do Not Buy Whirlpool

Bought model WMH76718AW on 2/19/13. Stopped heating on 1/25/15.
Whirlpool will not replace or repair because extended warranty is over. Whirlpool does not stand behind their products. They recommend repairing it and purchasing an extended warranty for the repair. That will make this a $1000 piece of garbage. I will never buy another Whirlpool (Maytag, Amana, etc.) product again. Also, my Whirlpool dishwasher doesn't clean dishes. Stay away from Whirlpool products. Quality, durability, and follow up service are terrible.

We replaced our 15 year old GE with this microwave, We loved its functionality from the beginning. It did everything we needed it to do. The convection feature was a definite bonus. The first time I used it to bake cookies, all was right with the world.
I usually use the power control setting when cooking. I believe the microwave cycles between on and off full power to reach the desired cooking setting. Maybe this was too hard on it. A few years of this and it is no longer working. When it broke, it smoked and we smelled burnt plastic. So, I had to break out my 28 year old (smaller) GE microwave from college (lives in the basement) as a back-up until we can find another over-the-range microwave. It still works perfectly; it's just small.
Needless to say, I am disappointed that this microwave did not stand the test of time. Of course, it is out of warranty, and repairing it would cost almost as much as a new one. That's two strikes on Whirlpool for me. We had problems with our clothes dryer as well. We will probably not purchase any Whirlpool products going forward. We need appliances that can handle 'family' duty and it seems that they are not up to the task, in our experience.

Magnetron not very powerful and failing

I have had this unit for a while, and while I appreciate the features, I noted that the microwave power when new was not on par with the 10 year old 900W Sharp microwave it replaced. Since that time I have noticed a drop off microwave power from it's new state. I regret that I did not establish a "time to boil" water when I first purchased as a baseline. Nonetheless, this is a disappointment and I don't think that I would recommend this unit.
